How do I change the phone number in the setup of my keychain?

I put the wrong phone number in my keychain at setup and need to change it. I am fairly new to MAC and need help with this issue,PLEASE!

I was simply going to write that you were incorrect and there are no plus signs either, but I was certian you knew what was supposed to happen, and that I wasn't going soft either. So after staring at it for a while it just came to me: the file was full! I deleted just one favorite and both the plus and the Add to Favorites button appeared where you described.

When I am using my iPad for iMessages and FaceTime, it displays a different cell number than my own. How can I change this number to my cell phone? When I log using my Apple ID, it shows the other number and will not let you change it. Is there a way to change it?

I found the answer. You can do this by:
For iMessage-
Settings>Message>Send & Receive>Log into your Apple account
For FaceTime-
Settings>FaceTime>Log into your Apple account
Once in, you can select the phone number you want to use. After completing this task, you can then go to Settings on your iPad and select iMessage and FaceTime. Preform the same steps as above and the phone number will be changed.

Do you have the iPhone that has the number that is currently Listed in Messages on the Mac ?
If so then go to Settings > Messages > Send and Receive and remove the Apple ID.
Restart Messages on the Mac.
IS the Number still there ?
If so then in the Finder > Go Menu > Go to Folder type ~/Library/Preferences in the dialogue box that appears.
In the Preferences find com.apple.imservice.iMessages.plist and com.apple.imessages.bag.plist and drag both to the Trash
Restart Messages.
These two .plists hold the Server Login info and the "Aliases" IDs (Emails and iPhone Numbers)
Restart Messages (Again).
Now on the new iPhone Add the Apple ID you are using in Messages on the Mac ? (In the Send and Receive spot)
Allow a few minutes and Restart Messages if it does not show an Alert type message from the iMessage Server saying the iPhone is using the Apple ID and phone Number.

I moved to a new city and would like to get a phone# with my new area code.
If I try this online I get to 'change phone number' page which only allows me to select exchanges in my current area code.
Do I really have to drive to a store to do this?
I cannot for the life of me find an 800# or any contact info on the vzw website,
and if I try 'send an email', after selecting that I get a bill it instead goes to a support forum page, not send email page!
Is this just poor website design or is verizon trying to hide contact phone#s to reduce support costs?

You may need to change your primary usage address to your new address in the new city. Once that change has been completed, then maybe the the online change phone number system will select exchanges from the new area code.
You can also call customer service from a different phone at 1-800-922-0204.

This is a VERY difficult process!
On requesting to transfer my BT account to my partner BT assured me of the following:
1. It would be quick and easy. (Yeah right)
2. We would keep the same number.
3. Our third party provided internet will not be affected. (Didn't believe that from the start)
4. it would be a short down time, less than a day to switch over.
Are your call centre people trained to lie to your customers?
So a date was for the switch over.
On the switch over date the line went dead and stayed dead for 2 days.
After complaining it eventually came back it had a different number.
So we called to have it changed to the old number. After another period of dead line we called again.
This time restored with yet another random number.
Called a number of times since but not fixed.
Latest is they will fix, will take 48hours and will be charged £25 for the privaledge their F..Up.
Still waiting......... Oh yes, our given switch over date was the 11th April, it's now the 26th.
So remember BT, some of your home customers are in the position where they decide at work on where they will place many thousands of pounds of telephone business.
Given your rubbish service at home (and at work, but don't have the time to list all) where should this business go?

Welcome to the forum. It's not just a difficult process but an impossible one as far as I know. BT do not usually transfer accounts from one person to another, the main exception being for bereavement. It sounds as though you've been led right up the garden path.
If today's events don't reach a satisfactory conclusion I would contact the BT Care Team. They are the moderators who oversee this forum and will be able to look into this for you. They may take a few days to respond but you will get an immediate nline acknowledgement with a reference number to note in case you need to follow up.

If you can remember them their current answers you can login here and change them : https://appleid.apple.com , click on 'Manage your Apple ID' and then 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of your account's page
If you can't remember their answers and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

Only by getting a different iPhone and using your Apple ID for Messages/FaceTime on your iPod. The iPod (and iPad) only have a phone number for Messages and FaceTimeT if the Apple ID used for those services on the iPad is also used on a Phone witrh iOS 6 or later.
