How do I change the preview cache disk?

I keep seeing statements such as "there is nothing to stop
you from locating the preview cache on another disk". Um.. there is a problem.
I find no option to do it anywhere. In catalog settings it only "Shows" the location and does not allow changing it.  Am I missing something? I have looked and looked and the process is described nowhere. It is very frustrating because I can find these things on my own quite readily and in LR its totally buried if its possible at all.
Also;
How can I change the default camera calibration from the ACR 4.4 to Adobe standard ?  The first thing I have to do after every import is go back and sync to a different camera profile.
Thanks in advance for any help

In order that you can change the camera default profile you must be in the Develop module then change the profile to Adobe Standard. Next, choose Default Settings from Develop module. When the dialog appears you should click on Update to Current Settings...
It's not possible to change the location of the library preview cache because it must be in the same folder as the catalog. However, changing the Camera Raw preview cache (used by Develop module) location is done through Preferences. The following screen shot shows you where to make the change.

how can I change the preview in imessage on a mac, when notifing me?
I want it not to preview, just to show me the name of the person sending me the message, not the name of the person sending the message and the message they wrote.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use iMessage. There's an iMessage Support Community where everybody uses iMessage. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • How do I change the preview file location?

I have a SSD "C:" drive which is filling up, and I have other drives with lots of space and performance, so I'd like to move where SB stores the preview files (currently in  "Adobe Soundbooth Preview Files") to a different drive.
I haven't seen anything in the SB config which allows me to do this, is there a way, and if so - what is it?
    Thx!

    (1) Open a new tab to about:config (type about:config in the Awesomebar and tap the go arrow or tap Enter)
    (2) In the search box, type down and tap Enter
    (3) Scroll down to browser.download.folderList and tap Modify, then change the value from 1 to 2 (from default always to last used folder). The change should appear after a few seconds.
    (3) Scroll back up and tap the "Add a New Setting" button
    (A) String is the correct type, so OK that
    (B) The name of the preference should be browser.download.dir (this stores the last used directory)
    (C) The value should be /sdcard/ followed by the folder name you want to use, for example, /sdcard/FxDown

  • How  do I change the Win7 boot disk under BootCamp?

I have been getting warnings that my Window7Pro64 hard disk may crash.  I bought a new disk.  Installed it in my Mac Pro. Set up the partitions and cloned my boot disk to the new disk.  At the end of the process of creating the clone, the software will shut the computer down.  I am instructed to enter the Bios in order to assign the Clone disk as the new 'boot' disk.
Since I am running under Boot Camp I am wondering if I need to follow another procedure?  I am inquiring before the cloning process has completed, so I haven't tried rebooting into Bios...
    Thanks for any insight...!
    Jim

    So, Mr. Hatter...
You have raised some additional questions:
    1.  Will Boot Camp now support Windows 8?
    2.  On the Windows side of Boot Camp I have installed Acronis software to clone my old boot disk (500GB) to a new clone disk (1TB).  That cloning process worked.  I rebooted to the Mac side.  I chose Boot Camp and chose to reboot into Windows 7 using the new clone disk.  Windows booted up.  It appears to me that I now have two Windows bootable disks.  Is this correct?  Does this create any potential problems?
    3. On the Mac side of Boot Camp, I have installed Carbon Copy to clone my old boot disk (500GB) to a new Clone disk (1TB).  That cloning also appears to have worked.  It appears I now have two bootable disks on the Mac side, too.  Any problems with that?
    4. Inside my MacPro my 4 drive bays are currently assigned disks in the following order (reading from the left side of the compartment): Drive Bay 1: MacBoot (500GB); Drive Bay 2: WinClone (1TB); Drive Bay 3: MacClone (1TB); Drive Bay 4: WinBoot (500GB).  The reason I ask is because when I go into Acronis / Carbon Copy they report the disks as Primary Master / Primary Slave; and Secondary Master / Secondary Slave without regard to their physical locations.  This is suggesting the master / slave relationship may need to be maintained physically - in which case my allocation of disks to bays would be incorrect.  Any insight on this topic may reduce my anxiety that I could be causing a disk failure (I had a new 1TB disk indicate a mechanical failure and replaced it with the current, new MacClone (1TB) disk.  It is in the same bay relationship.  This got me thinking... is it possible to have a Mac disk as Primary Master and a Win disk as its Primary Slave?  If so, what damage might result).
In any case, at the moment, everything seems to be functional on both sides (Mac & Win).  However, I rarely come out of these exercises with a complete sense of security that I have done everthing correctly...
    5.  Should I still run CHKDSK?  How do I invoke it?
    6.  What is NVRAM and how do I invoke it?  Does it apply to both Win & Mac?
    7.  Still boot from Win7 DVD and run system repairs?
Sorry to burn your ears, but its on my mind and since you guys have sooo... many 'help' points I figured I tapped into serious capabilities I should not pass up!
    Thanks, again
    Jim

  • How do I change the preview mode background from black to white?

I am sure it is really simple but the solution seems to be totally eluding me.....

Can't find it in the Preferences? It should be under "Guides and Pasteboard", aptly called "Preview Background":
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/indesign/cs/using/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-714ba.h tml
Changing it only affects the current active document. If it's "doing it" for any new documents, then something caused it to be a global setting. Close all of your documents, then change the setting.

  • How can I change the java cache path - jre v. 1.6.0_03 ?

    Hello,
Computer with OS Windows Vista Pro & JRE v. 1.6.0_03.
Standard path for the "java cache" is: c:\users\PCV\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Deployement\cache
    Is it possible change it?
    Many thanks for your feedback

The General tab, Temporary Internet Files, of the Java Control Panel allows this to be set.
I suspect that Vista's Security/ALC will be upset if you mode it to a different security zone, however.

  • How do I change the InDesign scratch disk?

I have InDesign installed on an SSD with an HDD for data. My Windows 8 page file is on my HDD. I've changed the document recovery folder in InDesign to the HDD, but whenever I try to export a complex indd to make a print PDF it fills my SSD and crashes. I do NOT want InDesign constantly writing to my SSD, but I can't seem to find an option to move the scratch disk location. Help?

    See http://forums.adobe.com/message/4705644#4705644
There are two different discussions entwined, but one of them involves a small ssd and moving the user profile. ID uses the temp file in your user profile for scratch and as far as I know you cannot specify a new location for that the same way you can for recovery. The usual method of changing the environment variable does not work.

  • How do I change the highlight in Preview "search" function?

I find Preview is a great app for reading PDF documents, I prefer it to Adobe Acrobat most of the time. It also has a useful and fast Search, but .... the highlighting of found Search items in the document is USELESS!!! It is pale grey, which - when most documents are black text on white background, and with a lot of text crammed on a page - is almost impossible to see!
I have tried Preview Preferences. I have tried System Preferences (but Preview, sadly, doesn't use SysPrefs highlight colour). How can I change the Preview highlight colour so that Search becomes a useful function instead of causing me eyestrain?

Thank you for the quick reply, however, if I understand correctly your link is helpful for Character Fill Color, not highlights.
Please find the quote below in this link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH15379?viewlocale=en_US
"Note:   Text that you highlight by adding a color behind it (in the Format inspector) isn’t tracked in the review toolbar."

How do you change the default location address (in my pictures) of the IPOD Photo Cache ?

You do no specifically. It sounds like you are syncing a folder to the iPod. In that case:
From a Folder on Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
The iPod Photo Cache will be located in the folder you selected to sync with.
Thus, you have to change the location of the folder you sync with.
