How do I change the saved entry on the "Ping" page of Network Utility?

Whenever I open Network Utility and go to the "Ping" tab I see this:
support.apple.com was one of the first addresses I used on my new MacBook Pro. Is there a way to clear this or change it to something else?

The reason I need to change the file name is we want the breadcrumbing name to change and the breadcrumbing is linked to the file name.
I don't understand this reason. How would changing the file extension solve your breadcrumb issue? Why don't you explain the issue in more detail.

How can I change the default page for a book?

I have a book that contains six pages. One of the pages contains the login portlet while the others contain account specific information that a user can only see if they are logged in. Currently, I have the default page set to the login page.
I am attempting to write a backing file for the book that will esentially change the default page for the book to be one of the other pages if the user is already logged in. In effect showing a logged in user their account summary page instead of the login portlet.
I can't seem to find a way to change what page the user is shown with the book and page context classes. I can hide the login page, but this leaves the user looking at a blank page. Unfortunately I can't use entitlements, otherwise this would be easy.
Does anyone know how to "forward" to another page from a backing file?

How do i change the default Page Setup settings?

I have a recurring "bug" - whenever i open a PDF - and usually when i create new files (in any program), the default setting is to have it print horizontally at 65%.
to be more concise, if i open a blank document in "Text Edit" as an example and go to Page Setup - its already set to 65%, rotated horizontal - - instead of vertical orientation at 100%.....
This is frustrating, as I often forget this - go to print a PDF - and it comes out very small and rotated 90 degrees.
This even happened when i recently got a new printer and had to install / setup a new driver.
I was able to get it to stop a long time ago by deleting all of my printers and starting over from scratch - but the problem quickly resurfaced.
(I think it may have something to do with receiving a PDF from a third party that had this setting to allow me to print a larger drawing onto letter sized paper - - but it seems to overtake all of my files as default.)
I hope i explained this clearly.....what i would like to do is know how to definitively change this "default" setting.....

Anyway, have you tried File>Page Setup..., then setting the Scale, Size, & Orientation, then same Window>Settiungs>Page Attributes>Save as Default... or even the Restore Original Defaults there?

Hello, I use Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard. I work in the construction industry, so it is important drawings are printed to scale. when I go to print an A3 landscape pdf the page handling > page scaling settings automatically default to 'Fit to Printer Margins' - which then throws out the scale of the drawing content. I can manually change this setting to 'None' each time I print, but this is not fool proof as I sometimes forget.
Is there a way to change the default setting for this property? Any help is appreciated.

I downloaded a program (Babylon) to translate text. After trying it out, I removed the program using their uninstall and then the add/remove functionality within windows. Nevertheless, remnants remain. When I attempt to open a new tab in Firefox (and IE for that matter), I get the Babylon Search page. In Chrome, when I changed the homepage, it eliminated the issue when opening a new tab. How do I establish a new default page when I open a new tab?

Try double clicking the Home button to bring up the Multitasking toolbar. Press and hold an app and hit the little red circle with the minus sign to close out the Messages app.

It all began inside the settings of my Sanyo VPC-HD2000A when somehow the selection got switched from 1280 x 720 to that other setting with so-called 25fps. Also, I don't know whether the mishap occurred before or after I took my new footage.
I edited the clips last night and now they are on my blog and channel and they seem ok but slightly fuzzy.
I used a Sanyo VPC-HD2000A .7x wide angle lens with macro and I notice that when I zoomed in to the little sun conure, the picture blurred. I think that might be something that happens when one zooms the focus.
Also, I was born and raised to a teenager in Hawaii, but now Southern California has me in its grip.

A search, in these forums, using "bing" as your criteria, will reveal a wealth of data...nevertheless.
VZW indeed seems to be pushing out bing as the sole available search engine for the BB browser. If, when you received the Bing icon from VZW, you clicked on it and followed it through, it likely changed your search engine to bing and offers no alternatives. This is what I recall others having reported (not having clicked that icon myself, I have no personal experience -- and do not intend to have such).
From within your Browser app, do this:
> Options > Browser Configuration
On that screen is a "Default Search Provider" setting...if you can change it from Bing, then you can do as you please. If it only offers you Bing, then you have already become VZWs victim and, so far, I've seen no recourse to change it.

How do I change the name of my network?

I know this has been answered before, but I get to a certain point and am stuck.
I click on the airport, go to wireless, put in the new name, then I get this message:
This AirPort base station is set up to allow SNMP on the Ethernet WAN port, which decreases network security.
I can click ignore the problem or revise settings. I have no idea what to do for option 2. If I ignore the problem, I have to click this twice and then I get a message that if I make these changes, the wireless connection will be lost, so I cancel the whole thing.

Open Airport Utility in your Utilities folder. Click on your Base Station icon. Click on the Edit button. Click on the Wireless tab in the AU window. Setup is:
The selected item above is the Network Name you can change. Note that this is the Network name, not the name of your Base Station which is configured under the Base Station tab. This is also where you set the option to Allow setup over WAN.
Whenever you make a change like this, after you click on the Update button the router is taken offline to process the change which is why you get the warning that communication will be lost. This is normal. It will return when the router comes back online.

How can you change the primary partition in Disk Utility?

I have made another partition using Disk Utility to install Snow Leopard. On my main partition Lion is installed but when i boot into Snow Leopard and try to delete the Lion partition it comes with an error "This operation requires a newer version of Mac OS X for this disk". I tried deleting the partition from Recovery HD but it says it couldn't unmount the disk.
Is this because Lion is the main partition, can you even delete the main partition?
And if I do delete the main partition will i be able to move the Snow Leopard partition "upwards" in Disk Utility?

No, you need something to boot off of and remove all data off the internal drive that's going to be reformatted with a new parttion, that's why you use the free Carbon Copy Cloner, it does both in one shot and it "blesses" the drive to make it bootable.

It copies everything in your Snow Leopard partition to the external drive, files, programs the OS everything except whats in the Trash.

Both drives, the internal and the external clone in Disk Utility (ignore the long list that appears)
It's a safety check to make sure your permissions are set back to original settings, I think the newer version of CCC now does this, but I havent' checked, doesn't hurt to do it again.
5) If you still feel like typing can you tell me how long this whole process might take?
Formatting a external drive
You should Erase with Zero option first, that will take a hour per 500GB
Formatting shoud be rather fast, a few minutes.
Cloning Snow Leopard to the external drive should take about a hour per 500GB
Formatting the internal drive a zero erase first for safety should take another hour per 500GB
Reverse cloning Snow Leopard back onto the internal drive should take another hour per 500GB
Good thing about it, it's pretty much all ciick and go watch TV while it works.
I was actually planning to make a Genius Bar appointment to fix it, by the way does that cost much?
No idea, but you don't have to pay if you get a external drive for $70 or so, CCC is free.
You get to keep the external drive and use it later for cloning as hard drives die all the time, the clone would get you back to using the computer.

This will print 5 on your first page.

Even when a report has more than one page the print dialog produced by the .net version of CrystalReportViewer sets the default page range to 1 of 1.Is it possible to change that to default to All? Cheers Mike

Yes you can do this. I've done it but cannot remember exactly what page I had to modify. I think it was in the aspnet_client\system_web\2_0_50727\crystalreportviewers115\js\export.js file. In one of the functions you need to swap the ALL and PAGES variables. Hope this helps.
