How do I change the Username of a User?

I'm handing off my 24" iMac to my dad and I want to change the Username that appears in Finder - Places (on left side of window. I try to edit, but it will not let me. I have changed the System Pref to reflect his name and make him the the Admin for the computer. Now I want to change this part. I can't find any info on this subject. Anyone have an answer? Thanks!

Control-click that account, choose Advanced Options, change the home folder name, restart, and move everything from the old home folder to the new one.

    My iCloud on my iPad is in my ex partners name and I don't no his password . How can I change the username in 2 my name ?

    iCloud from an account perspective is associated with the AppleID. Unless you have the password, there's nothing you can do to modify it.
    As suggested, you just want to create your own and reassocited the iPad with your new one. You will lose data and purchased apps, however. Basically, you will be starting from scratch.

  • How do I change the password of a user in a group?

    I've forgotten the password of a user that is located in a group on my computer. How can I change the password or delete the user?

    Hi, depends what OSX version, but...
    Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock...
    Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock...
    There you can delete a user by highlighting it, or Rest the Password if you have an admin account.

    Colin,
    You may substitute any text you like for the "Placeholder Text", as it is called, in Pages. Click on the existing placeholder text and type something more to your liking. Do this in as many places as your particular template of interest demands. Then, Format > Advanced > Define as Placeholder Text. Lastly, File > Save as Template.
    Now that you have defined a Custom Template to your liking, you can go to Pages Preferences and under the General tab's first section, define the new custom template as your default for each new document.

  • I bought a pre-configured MBPro. How do I change the username?

    I bought a computer that was on display and thus already configured to the store's settings (i.e. username, Mail, etc.). I've managed to change every setting to my liking except the username that appears on Terminal and the one on Sharing & Permissions; I keep getting the store's username on those fields.
    I changed the home folder's name using a tutorial on YouTube but that change does not affect Terminal or Sharing & Permissions!
    Please help, I don't want to re-install Lion... what a drag! =S

    System Preferences>Users & Groups. Create a new admin account and delete the one you don't want. That should have been done first because it will nulify most of what you have already done.

  • How do I change the name of my "User" name?

    I bought a used Macbook Pro. I hate my Home User name and can't figure out how to change it. Let me explain. When looking at the finder window at the botom it gives a path "Macintosh HD > Users > Abc123".
    How can I change "Abc123" to a name I like?
    Using Leopard 10.5.8

    I tried it and it sort of worked but didn't do what I needed. I am trying to change the name of the home folder but keep all its settings, desktop, etc. When I used the Advanced area and changed the path name and did a restart it gave me a fresh desktop like a new computer. All my settings were wrong, etc. I guess it did the same thing as if I had created a new account name but what I want to do is just change the path name. I guess if I do that it would screw up all my file paths since they probably would not automatically update to the new path name, huh?

  • How can I know the username of a user that logged in?(Authorization)

    I have a problem with authorization. In our system, everyone could take some reports. But we must restrict the data that a user can see.
    So, I must know what is the username of the logged in user.
    I have tried :XDO_USER_NAME variable in SQL statement but it doesn't work.
    Is there any way to get the username of the logged in user.
    Thanks..

  • Groupwise 2014: How do I change the FID of a user

    Hello!
    In ConsoleOne you can easily change a users FID, but is it possible to do that in the new Administration Console in Groupwise 2014?
    regards

    Here's a script to create a user with a specific FID.
    #/bin/bash
    # -- Script to create GW user with a given FID --
    # -- Edit IP PORT and GWADMIN values to match your system
    IP=10.10.10.10
    PORT=9710
    GWADMIN=admin
    read -p "Enter GroupWise Admin Password: " ADMINPWD
    read -p "Enter First Name for $GWID: " FIRST
    read -p "Enter Last Name for $GWID: " LAST
    read -p "Enter GroupWise UserID for new user: " GWID
    read -p "Enter FID for $GWID: " FID
    read -p "Enter Domain for $GWID: " DOM
    read -p "Enter Post Office for $GWID: " PO
    read -p "Enter new password for $GWID: " USERPWD
    BASEURL="https://$IP:$PORT/gwadmin-service/domains/$DOM/postoffices/$PO/users"
    USERDATA='{"name":"'$GWID'","givenName":"'$FIRST'" ,"surname":"'$LAST'","fileId":"'$FID'"}'
    PWDDATA='{"userPassword":{"value":"'$USERPWD'"}}'

    Hi,
    The FID editor that was available to change the FID on an archive does
    not work against a GroupWise 2014 system.
    You can create a user with a specific FID - just look up a little in
    this thread for DZanre's post about the command to use.
    Perhaps if you tell us a little more about your situation we could give
    more specific advice.

  • I had to change my iCloud/iTunes user name and when I go into my iPhone to change it on the iCloud, it only allows me to change the password. How can I change the username?

    Do I just need to delete the account and start over? Will I lose info?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

    Hi, I recently changed my username for my iTunes/iCloud account. Can anyone tell me how i change the username on my iCloud iPad? When I go onto setting to change it it keeps the username grey so I can't even select it?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
    If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

    Hello SAP,
    how can I change my username, to no longer consists german "Umlauts" ?
    Currently, it looks everywhere (even here in the forum) like this:
    "Volker Güldenpfennig"
    As you can imagine, I would prefer the following:
    "Volker Gueldenpfennig"
    This seems to be caused by a wrong conversion between your databases from UTF-8 to ASCII Latin-1 ...

    You must add the itunes redirect tag within the <channel> element of your feed. Its doubtful that a 3rd party app would support this tag, but its possible. If you have access to the actual xml file, you can add the redirect feed manually using any text editor.
    <itunes:new-feed-url>http://yournewdomain.com/podcast.xml</itunes:new-feed-url>
    The itunes redirect tag simply tells iTunes users where your podcast has been moved to, and updates their local settings accordingly. The next time they visit your podcast, they will go directly to your new feed specified in the redirect tag.
    For non-iTunes users, the itunes redirect tag doesn't help. Thats where the 301 redirect comes in, however it is a bit complicated depending on the type of host your podcast is on. If you don't want to tackle the 301 redirect, keep reading.
    One method of updating non-iTunes users...if you can still post an episode to your old feed, then one option is to post a text file that directs people to your new feed. You could also post a brief audio clip stating the same thing. Leave this episode up for a couple of weeks and then kill your old feed.
