How do I change to a new Apple ID on iPhone4 (need to keep old ID usable aswell)

How do I change my Apple iPhone4 - Apple ID from the ID it is set up with, to a new one.  I need to keep the current Apple ID as it is used by another family member on their iPhone.  At present both phones are using the same Apple ID.....

You can create a new Apple ID here
https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
To change the Apple ID on your iPhone, sign out in Settings > Store and sign in with the new Apple ID.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
If you have used your old ID to purchase content from iTunes or the App store, you may want to continue to use this ID for iTunes only to avoid losing your content.

I had to change to a new Apple MacBook Pro.  I deauthorized my old computer, authorized the new one and the only media that shows up are items with a cloud.  Everything that was downloaded from a cd, including personal movie files, are missing.  It's as if my former library is gone.  How can I find it again? Or is this just Apples way of screwing with me?

No. Firewire and Ethernet are not the same. Ethernet would be used to connect the computers to your network. A Firewire cable is used to connect the computers directly. They are different ports.
The above shows what an Ethernet port and a Firewire 400 port look like.

  • How do I change to my new apple ID in icloud on my iphone?

When I first got my iPhone my now ex-husband did all the set up. He used HIS email address though for the Apple ID and iCloud and had everything synced. I have not backed up my phone in months mainly because I have no storage left in iCloud and I don't want him accessing all my personal stuff since he has all the account passwords.
I've since made myself a NEW apple ID and my new ID is in the iStore. I would now like to change or create a new iCloud associated with MY email address and new apple ID. When I go to settings it's greyed out, and won't let me change the email associated with the account and tells me the user name and password is incorrect (I'm assuming he removed my phone from the iCloud account and only has his iPod on it now).
I'm afraid to delete the account and try logging in with my new info because everywhere I read says my info is backed up in iCloud but I no longer have access to the original iCloud account....
Please help! I have texts that must be backed up for legal purposes!
    Thanks

    Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, go to Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
Note:   If you delete your iCloud account, iCloud will no longer back up your iOS data. You can still back up your device in iTunes (for more information, open iTunes and choose iTunes > Help).
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.
If your Mac has OS X v10.7.5 and you turn off iCloud, your calendar information and reminders aren’t stored locally in iCal. If you want to retain your calendar and reminder information, you need to back it up before turning off iCloud. For more information, see the Apple Support article iCloud: Calendar & reminder data removed from Calendar and Reminders or iCal when disabling iCloud Calendar.
On your Windows computer, open the iCloud Control Panel, then click Sign Out.
Note:   If you turned on automatic download of music, app, or book purchases (in iTunes preferences or in Settings on your iOS device), your iTunes purchases are still downloaded to your devices.
Set up iCloud on your devices

  • How do I change to my new Apple ID on my iPhone 5s?

Here is my issue. I have changed email accounts for a number of reasons. My Apple ID was an old gmail account that I no longer monitor, and it had an unprofessional username and got a lot of spam, so I didn't want to simply use forwarding. I changed it to another gmail I just made. Now, I did this on safari on my phone. In Settings > iCloud it still has the original gmail with the iCloud email (that I think I was forced to make when iCloud was new, otherwise not sure why I have it) that I have. So now there are 3 emails, but the one that's supposed to be gone is still on the phone. Is there a way to change that besides deleting the account and signing back in? It's the same account, just a different username. Also, I don't want my info that is stored in iCloud (contacts, calendars, notes, etc.) to be lost or moved around. I know that deleting the account could make me save the stuff on my iPhone but I don't know where. Please explain what I can do to fix this if you've had experience with this type of problem. Thanks!

    Hi AMriser,
If it is the same account with simply a new ID, then deleting the iCloud account will have no effect on the contents of said account.
However, if iCloud is still signed on with the old ID, you are not going to simply be able to Delete the iCloud account. You can try it, but you are likely to run into the Invalid Password error....
If you do, then you need to follow the steps below to get that iCloud account deleted so you can sign back in with your updated ID:
    1.     Go into Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the old ID (this is temporary - do NOT verify it): Apple - My Apple ID
    2.     Go to Settings>iCloud on your device and scroll down to the bottom of the page to Delete the iCloud account. Put in your current Apple ID password. Do not worry about the warning messages. Everything in your iCloud account will still be there when you get done
    3.     Go back into Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the new ID (you may need to verify it again)
    4.     Go back into Settings>iCloud and sign onto iCloud with your new ID
Give it a few minutes to download your info over Wifi. Once it is done, you should see everything back in place.
    Cheers,
    GB

To change it, you have delete the existing account.  However you can avoid losing any pictures in the process.  To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.  (Camera roll photos are not effected by deleting the account.)
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.

  • I changed my Apple ID two weeks ago and I Accidently forgot to sign out of my iCloud on my iPhone 5C. now it wont let me change the iCloud ID to match my new Apple ID. How do I change my iCloud ID even though it is asking for the old ID?

I changed my Apple ID two weeks ago and I accidently forgot to sign out of my iCloud on my iPhone 5C. Now it wont let me change the iCloud ID to match my new Apple ID. How do I change my iCloud ID even though it is asking for the old ID?

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Apple IDs generally don't stop existing. If you mean that you have changed your email address, what you need to do is update your Apple ID to the new email.  Start here:

Sorry, you can't. Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to originally obtain them. They cannot be updated using any other Apple ID, nor can they be transferred to another Apple ID. You will have to update them using the ID used to originally obtain them.

I believe the issue is with the Apple ID that was used to purchase the App. If you download an App that was purchased under a different Appple ID then all updates will also be linked to the original purchaser's Apple ID. Your Apple ID is the the same ID as your iTunes, iCloud, etc. Some folks use different ID for the different Apple sites. No need for that One ID for all Apple Sites, and if someone else buys an App using their ID and they(you) download that App onto your device and that App requires an update it will ask for the purchasers Apple ID. This happens a lot when folks sell their iPad or give it to someone else and leave some purchased(free) Apps on the iOS device. You cannot change the original ID the App was purchased under. A suggestion would be if someone else has an App that you like but do not want to pay for use their ID or in the future have them gift the App to you.

Discussions on using purchases from multiple AppleIDs in one iTunes library - https://discussions.apple.com/message/19543804
As I mentioned earlier, the main time when this becomes an issue is if you need to do something involving associating a computer with a particular AppleID.  Careful management of your collection should minimize this situation.
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 -  In connection with, "When you turn on iTunes Match or Automatic Downloads, or when you download past purchases on an iOS device or computer, that device or computer becomes associated with your Apple ID." "Your Apple ID can have up to 10 devices and computers (combined) associated with it. Each computer must also be authorized using the same Apple ID. Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days." - Additionally instructions for "Removing an associated device or computer from an Apple ID"
So the first account is really "yours" and you are setting her up with her own account?  It helps to know this because if both are "hers" then there isn't an issue with her having full access to both accounts.  If in 10 years she moves 2000 miles away and she is pretty much independent then you may not want her to have full access to your AppleID just so she can authorize a device.
