How do i change to landscape on pages for ipad 2

I am new to Pages and would like to be able to open a blank document in landscape mode on my iPad 2.  Can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

pb,
Your question sounds basic enough, but as most of us here on the Mac iWorks forum don't have iPads, it's a tough one, for me at least. There's an iWork community within the iPad community where you are certain to find a good answer to that question. I'll take a guess though. If Pages on the iPad is similar to pages on the Mac in this regard, you will choose a template when you start a new document. The blank templates will be Portrait or Landscape in orientation. That's where you make the choice, at the very beginning. On the Mac, you can switch the orientation of a document in File > Page Setup, or Document Inspector > Page Setup, if you find you made a poor choice in the beginning.

  • How do I add footnotes/endnotes in Pages for iPad 2?

Hi everyone. Like many people I was super excited to be able to use my iPad 2 as a word processor with the Pages app. I have a macbook black from 2007 and it is extremely heavy to carry around everyone. I'm a graduate student so mobility for me is key.  Anyway, so I am writing an academic paper write now in Pages for iOS but I can't figure out how to add footnotes/endnotes to cite my sources. I can't find anything online relating to this topic. Can you tell me how to do this? I certainly hope Pages has this capability because without something so fundamental, how can it be the least bit useful? Thanks so much!

It is not built in, but you can at least create and edit footnotes (I do not use end notes, but from limited testing, it appears to work with endnotes as well but converts them to footnotes). It sounds complicated when you break it down into steps as I do below, but it really is easy and intuitive.
FIRST: The underlying concept. If you have the latest Pages for iPad, then when it imports a Word document it imports footnotes (and endnotes) and you can edit them.
With that in mind, here is how you can create footnotes on the iPad.
#1 In Word create a one short sentence shell text with a short footnote, like "See the cat run /fn1" "fn/1 The cat was black").
#2 Import that shell document into your iPad, say with email "open using Pages."
#3 Save that shell document as your sour dough starter so to speak.
#4 Now create your new Pages iPad document.
#5 When you are ready to create your FIRST new footnote, copy and paste the shell sentence with shell footnote from your saved starter shell document into your new iPages document.
#5. Edit the shell sentence and footnote to a real sentence and footnote in new document.
#6 Thereafter, as you add new footnotes, either copy / paste one from new document or shell and edit. You will see they renumber properly, even when moved.

  • Changing Document Title in Pages for iPad and VoiceOver

Is there a trick to changing the name of the document in Pages for iPad when voiceover is enabled. I can change the document name when voiceover is turned off but there doesn't seem to be away of getting to the label when voiceover is turned on.

What makes this difficult is that I can export the documents in PDF format, but then I cannot view them in Pages on the iPad as they cannot be uploaded into iCloud and Pages cannot access documents in other cloud storage sites. Pages uses the Word templates best.
I've considered Quickoffice, but don't want to spend the $$ on an app that may not work.
I've even thought about Team Viewer and accessing the documents on my Mac at home, but why remote access another computer just to view native files?
    Thanks for the responses.

  • How do I create a hyperlink in Pages for iPad?

In Pages for Mac, or Word, I can easily create a hyperlink "under" a word or phrase.
So far, I've been unable to do the same in Pages for iPad.
Is it me or the iPad?

  • How do I change the start up page for new tabs?

I've tried looking through options but I can't seem to find anything related to it. Please help.

New tabs are blank by default, there's no setting for changing that in Firefox. If you have something other than a blank page now appearing, an add-on you have installed changed the default action.
You can use this add-on to specify which page you want to open in a new tab. <br />

  • How to change highlight color in Pages for iPad?

Is there any way to do this? I know i can highlight selected text, but there is no option for choosing the color. It's always yellow and I would really like to highlight my text with many different colors.

It looks like the Highlight (background) color can only be yellow.
The best work around I can find is to change the text color itself which may work like a highlight of the text (like red, green or blue) which makes it stand out.  Maybe that will help?
Format Inspector (the brush) > Style > Touch the Size and Font item > Color > swipe to see options.
Note even there you can't go beyond predefined colors but you can make text stand out.

  • How do i change chart colors in Keynote for iPad?

Is there a way to change a color manually, instead of relying on the theme?  It repeats colors after five items in the data set, which makes it very difficult to interpret.

    Finally figured it out!
    1) Set a Background color of choice
    2) Click on the upper right color box, adjacent to "Background" label
    3) Drag color from the "Current Fill" box to any of the "Color Fills" boxes below

  • How to change sentence Case in Pages for ios

    Hi,
does anyone anyone know how to change sentence case in Pages for IPad.
I Mean from UPPER CASE TO lower case.

The IOS version of Pages has no Format > Font > Capitalization facility to transform uppercase text into other case forms. You need to use Pages v5.2.2 on OS X, or export to Word, and use most any other Word compatible word processor. If it is a couple of words, then retype them in the appropriate case.

  • Using Pages, how do I include occasional "landscape"-formatted pages into a "portrait"-formatted document?

Using Pages, how do I include occasional "landscape"-formatted pages (for large tables) into a long "portrait"-formatted document?

It can't be done in  Pages, hence you don't find the solution in Pages help!
You can rotate the table on the page instead. Press Cmd and drag the right lower corner 90 degrees

  • How do I "tab" in between columns in Pages for iPad?

As stated above, I need to know how to use a tab key in pages for Ipad. Not how to set a tab, but how to move between them. thanks

You can only tab from field to field on the iPad with an external keyboard. Most folks use a Bluetooth keyboard, either Apple's or one of a number of 3rd party keyboards. Some folks have also successfully used a USB keyboard connected to the iPad with the USB port provided by the Apple Camera Connection Kit.

  • Soft returns in Pages for iPad

I would really like to create a space between numbered items in Pages but I can't figure out how to do it.  Does anyone know how to create a soft return in Pages for iPad?
I have seen responses for the desktop application but not the iPad application.

    Pages 1.7.1, IOS 5.1.1
You start a bullet item and then press both ⇧ and return keypad keys to force a newline. This turns off the bullet style. Press return. Use the paintbrush toolbar icon to reselect the Bullet paragraph style again. This approach shows the inelegant possibility.
The best approach would be at the end of your bullet text, change your line spacing from 1.0 to 1.25 from within the paintbrush > Layout tab. A return continues your bullet style. If your normal body text has been 1.0 line spacing, you can switch back to that after your list.

I guess that we could ask that question about a few different things Apple related.
I'm glad that you got the hang of it.

  • How do you change to landscape in this crazy Pages?

How do you change to landscape in this crazy Pages?

Hi teacher, before writing that the app is crazy, would be a good idea to look at Pages User Guide.
Opening this resource and search for the keyword "orientation" brings as first response an entry in the TOC telling us that what you wanted to achieve is described in page #43.
One more time it's not the app which is crazy but maybe it's the user.

how to change the color background in Pages for iPad?

You can find many themes at https://github.com/hdoria/xcode-themes  There's a download zip button on the right side of the page.
Unzip and and copy the .dvtcolortheme files into /Users/YourUsername/Library/Developer/XCode/UserData/FontAndColorThemes Create the directory if it doesn't exist.
If you can't find the Library directory you can get to it by using Finder's "Go to Folder..." option under "Go" or press shift + cmd + G then type the path.
