How do I charge my Zen micro in Barbado

I am on holiday in Barbados and have tried charging by pluging into the computer at the hotel in the normal way. It does not work (probably because of the voltage) but I am sure there must be a way around it. Any ideas?

I think you have found the problem. However, we do not seem to be having any joy in using the method you suggested for finding out what version we have, as we can only do this when it is plugged into the computer and it seems to be perminently in "Recovery Mode". We have tried rebooting, but it makes no difference. I guess this is also because the software is not loaded on to the computer.
On the Recovery Mode screen it says thaet the version is v0.0.65 which does not seem to follow the sort of numbers you were quoting.
I don't think we are going to solve this without loading the software on to the computer and I don't think the hotel would appreciate that!!!
Is there a mains charger the we can purchase?

  • I'm confused..how do I charge a Zen Micro without a charg

So after returning my headphone-jack defecti've Micro to the company, I decided to purchase one from Best Buy. But since those don't come with accesories, I don't get a charger. So how the heck am I supposed to charge my Micro without one? How does the battery charge? Does it charge when I'm connected to the computer? Or is it absolutely necessary to buy a separate charger? This might sound like a stupid question, but since I only had my other one for a day and it had the charger, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do when my battery dies?

When I recharge my Micro... it takes about 3 hours on the USB. It doesn't say docked, but it may, depending on what mode you were in(syncing). The blue light pulses and after 5 minutes(or whatever you have selected in the setup menu)the player shuts down. Charging continues until the blue light stops pulsing. Wait 30 more minutes after the blue light stops, because the Micro receives a trickle charge to completely top up the battery. I dont turn off my computer ever, but I do put it into "hibernate", or "stand-by" mode. The Micro continues to charge in this mode.

It has been reported by some of our customers that they have experienced reduced battery life after charging their Zen Micro. Our product development team has researched these reports and determined that the users may have experienced this after they plugged their Zen Micro into the AC adapter that was already inserted into a wall socket with the AC power on.
While this is not the conventional way to plug in a player for charging, we wanted to ensure that our customers did not experience this problem, so we have developed a solution to address this, which simply involves upgrading the Zen Micro's firmware.
If you need assistance in doing this, please contact our customer support team and they will be happy to assist you.
Important: If you are upgrading from PlaysForSure firmware, be sure to back up all the audio and data files on your Zen Micro before installing this firmware update as all content will be lost when you install the new firmware. • Charging problem (Zen Micro Pho

    Hello,
I am using one of those generic AC adapters from ebay to charge my Zen Micro Photo, and it doesn't seem to be working. The little graphic of the battery will show that it is charging, but the blue backlight doesn't pulse. I let it charge overnight and the battery is still half-full. However, it charges with the usb cord connected to my compter. I've upgraded to the latest firmware, too.
I actually ordered two chargers, and the company gave me another two for free, and I've tried all four AC adapters - none of them causes the blue backlight to pulse.
Any ideas as to why this is happening? Maybe the chargers are crappy? I'd want to know if the player itself has problems before shelling out 30 bucks + shipping for the Creative charger... Thanks.

    GlenZEN wrote:
No pulsing would mean that the current is insufficient. But not to worry, the battery still gets charged, probably at a much slower rate.
Typically it means the player isn't being charged, at least several other Micro users have stated that the player won't charge when the faceplate isn't pulsing.
The Zen Micro is a lot more easygoing about which charger you use, particularly if you lock it or put it in USB storage mode (with the newer firmware). Worth trying with the ZMP, although I'm not sure if they added these features.

  • How Can I UPDATE my Zen Micro, when I like changed somethi

You know how an iPod Mini gets updated when you plug it in? Well I want to know how I can update my Zen Micro...

If you're updating the firmware, you just download it from Creative's download page. All the latest downloads are there, click the link Support > Downloads on this page.
You should update to at least ..0.

  • How can you tell a Zen Micro is fully charg

I've had my zen micro for a few days now (using .02.05 fw), and i've charged it via USB overnight.
I then used it for a couple days and the batter is dead. I then charged via USB today for about 4hrs and i got that fully charged icon. But after reading some other post, they suggest to charge for 8-9hrs? I charged it for only 3-4 hrs. Is this fully charged icon accurate?
    TIA

    My experiences:
On fw .02.x and earlier USB charging would be about 6 or so hours; the host PC needed the drivers installed and if so, and it found the Micro, pulsing would start and the lightning bolt icon was on. It seemed to me that no matter what the charge level of the battery was, charging would take 6 or so hours on USB, about 3 or so on the AC charger.
With fw .0.x I have been using driverless charging (put the Lock switch ON) then charge and now pulsing/lightning icon are on whether I am using a PC with driver or not OR if I use a 3rd party charge ie not the Creative AC one. Charge time is maybe 3-/2 hours. Now if I top up a charge, it will take whatever time it needs ...
In either case the Micro stops pulsing, the lightning icon is no longer displayed and when you switch the Micro back on, 4 bars are displayed to indicate charge level.

  • External charger for Zen Micro batt

I just got my new Zen Micro and so far it is the best looking mp3 player I have seen but I just hope (knock on wood) tha is doesn't run into any of the issues posted. The one thing that I thought was the best feature about the Zen Micro is that I can remove the battery from the unit but to really make it usefull I should be able to have one battery in the Zen MIcro while the other is charging. This way I can have non stop tunes. Is there an external battery charger for the Zen battery?
Also, how do I know if I have an older unit that had all the problems with the headphone jacks?
One more question, when I try to pause I sometimes have to pres the pause/play button two or three times. I have the touch pad setting to medium. Should I start to worry or is this normal.
    Thanks

There's no external charger. The low volume of sales will likely make it a high cost item, so Creative have presumably decided it's not worth it. If you really want you can always buy another player I'm guessing this won't be far off the likely cost of an external charger. There are some third party Lithium Ion chargers out there, but you need to have a special plate designed for the battery terminals. You'll have to Google to find them as I don't have the link to hand.
I find with pause that sometimes there's a delayed response, as if the player is busy. Wait a few seconds and try again, rather than say mashing the controls

  • HELP i cant charge my zen micro! (power adaptor troubl

I own a pink creative zen micro 5gig MP3 player. when i bought it, a special edition USB.2.0 power adaptor came with it, which is exclusi've to the 5gig zen micro mp3 players. this adaptor plugs into the wall, and charges the player, meaning i can charge my player anywhere without a computer.
well, now its stopped working. the charge just does not go through to the player, and i know it is because of a problem with the adaptor and not the player because the player still works when i connect it to a computer.
this is seriously irritating beacuse for some reason the player takes a huge amount of time to charge using my computer (as i write this it has been charging for almost and hour and the little charge level indicator in the corner of the screen has not changed from "completely empty")
what could be causing this and how do i fix it's

    Starryeyefly wrote:
well, i've just figured out that for my player to charge through the computer, the zen software that comes with the player and allowes you to transfer music has to be installed. (kinda dumb for me not to realise, but it does seem rather unnessesary)
It's not needed, at least you need to update to one of the later firmwares. I suggest using the ..0 firmware, but you want to charge your battery up a bit first before trying to update.
With the ..0 firmware (and the later v2 firmwares) you can lock the charger (slide the power button over) then connect to USB and all the power is dedicated to charging the player.
but that still dosent solve the problem with the wall adaptor. no indicator shows when i plug it in, it just wont charge.
i used to leave the adaptor plugged into the wall when my player had finished charging, with the power socket left on. im starting to think that it may have screwed the adaptor.
I'm not sure what's up with your player or adapter. An adapter could fail but it's very rare. If you have a voltage meter you can check the outputs from the first and fourth pin, which should be 5V. Be careful though.
Leaving the adapter plugged in won't cause any issue to it, other than wasting a little electricity.

  • Charge my Zen Micro in Mexico(110V)/ Malaysia (24

Hi, I got a RAZR charger for my Zen Micro. The plug is European(Germany, France, etc), so made for 220V. Will it be sufficient to put an adapter on the plug for charging it in Mexico with 0V? How about Malaysia? It's the British plug with 240V? Any experiences?
    Thx,

  • How to transfer recordings from zen micro to

I know how to get files on my Zen micro, and I have the latest firmware. But I cannot copy any music back from the device onto my computer using the zen micro media explorer or by exploring the device through windows. I also cannot copy the recordings I made to my comp. How can I do this? Thanks in advance.

hi dude, just bought my micro zen so not sure about this, but i noticed that when i copy the mp3 files and i disconnect and reconnect it, i cant see the files of my zen micro in the explorer, but i start to copy other mp3 to micro zen, all my files suddenly show up, maybe you can try that.

  • Charge the Zen Micro in another coun

I know France and the US don't have the same electricity rate or whatever... and France and England don't have the same kind of plugs... Can I still charge my Micro Zen abroad in those countries if I have nothing but a plug adapter? Will it just take longer for it to charge?
    Thanks!

Hmmm are Creative trying to capitalise on those poor souls that don't realise their transformer works pretty much everywhere anyway with a US$5 socket adapter? Although I guess it could be useful for those with the new stripped down versions sans mains adapter...

  • Is it safe to charge the Zen Micro overnig

This may have been covered already, and I appologize if it has...
Is it safe to charge my Micro for 6/8/0 hours straight via USB? I just want to plug it in and forget about it until work the next morning.
    Thanks!

Yes it is, the Micro stops charging when the battery is full.

  • Generic Charger for Zen Micro Ph

Has anyone ever used a generic power charger for their Zen MicroPhoto Just rec'd one and
wanted to make sure it was ok to use. Thanks.

I've used both a Motorola RAZR v3 charger, and that for a Typhoon HTC (both mobile phones).
Make sure you use at least the ..0 firmware, and you might need to lock the player before connecting (although I haven't needed to).

  • Zen micro photo charging without

How do I charge my zen micro photo using USB without XP? I tried charging using my office PC running Win 2000. I left it plugged in for 8 hours and my battery level never increased.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    OZ

I tried switching to mass storage mode, plugged to USB (with Win2000), waited ~2.5 hours and no increase in battery level. Thanks for the suggestion, but it is annoying that my ZMP does not have support for Win2000 in the first place, but now it can't even charge without XP.
    Creative!!! Here are some suggestions
    . Windows 2000 support.
    2. USB charge capability with at least Win2000.
    3. New software to manage files and playlists already on the ZMP.
I still have another week to return the ZMP, but it looks like I'll return it.
