How do i check if i have WEP please???

hey guys!!
i got a linksys wireless access point at home and because my imac G5 is pretty new i was impressed that it was so easy to set up to my wireless network.
i am sure i set up my WEP with the imac (i have my xbox 360, nintendo DS, PSP & PC on same wireless network using the WEP key) but where do i check to make sure please?
thanks
BM

Hi Monk,
Open up your System Preferences, and select the Network pane.
In my AirPort settings, in the Preferred networks area, I can see the network I am connected to. If I select it, and Edit it, I get a dialog box that shows the Network Name, Wireless Security, and Password. Below that is a checkbox for Show Password, and if I turn it on, it shows me the actual WEP password I am using to connect.
Now... under AirPort Options (at the bottom of the main AirPort screen), I have the Automatically add new networks to the preferred networks list option checked, so my network was automatically added to the list when I connected. I'm not sure if this is on by default, so please take a look and let me know if you find what you're looking for.

How do I check if I have an airport card?
I clicked on 'About my Mac' under the network option there is an Airport Card option.
But when I click on it, it says no information found.
Does this mean I have none?
If so, what do i have to do to connect to a wireless internet?

If it is a Mac Pro it is not a G4 and not a G5.
All Mac Pros have Intel CPUs. The older G3, G4 and G5 machines all had PowerPC chips and were called Power Macs, not Mac Pros.
Mac Pro towers have two optical drive trays (CD/DVD) in front.  The PPC PowerMac G5 has only one.  Earlier PPC machines like the G3 and the G4 don't have the distinctive aluminum "cheesegrater" housing.
The last G5 was manufactured in the summer of 2006, then Apple switched to Intel in August of that year.
USB WiFi adapters are very cheap and much less troublesome than Airport cards.

Your profile says you are using OS X Mountain Lion, so if that's true then you have all of Apple's anti-virus protection and if Software Update says you are fully up-to-date on all your Security, Java, etc. updates, then you are fully protected against all currently known malware that can impact OS X and Apple apps.
Keep Java (not JavaScript) disabled in all your browsers unless you must visit a site that requires it, and turn it back off as soon as you are finished to make certain you aren't one of the first to discover the next Java threat that will most certainly show up one day soon.

  • How do I check my files have been backed up on disk utilities

My mac book pro model : a1278 from 2010 won't log in it just loads with a grey screen with the apple logo and the buffering symbol, I have tried the safe boot mode and that doesn't work. I have also repaired the hard drive on disk utility and that hasn't solved the problem either. I have backed up my files onto a USB using disk utilities. I am wondering how to check that all the files have been backed up before I do a clean installation of Mac OS X Lion as I don't want to lose my files. Any suggestions ?

you can sync your contacts and things under your own itunes and your wife can have her own... or both in one as long as you have it synced in the same computer they will be there
if you name ur phones its easier to tell which is which
my husband kids and i all have our names and then iphone next to it and it creates a different backup for each and then we update and we restore from there it lets you choose which backup you want...
    hope it helps!!

  • How do i check if I have the SMC  update?

    Hi all,
I just bought a used macbook, and as i was trying to instal the SMC firmware update a window popped up saying that my computer does not require this update, and prompting me to close the application. I have had no shutdown problems with it yet, but wanted to instal it since it is highly recomended. Does anyone know how to check if it already installed?? Im a new mac user so im still a little confused.
Any other vital updates i should check for, and are the all downloaded through "Software Updates" in the apple menu, or do i have to go on the download site for them??
Thanks a lot for your time,
    Tam

The info is in System Profiler.
    Apple Menu>About this Mac>More Info
this is the SMC Firmware you should have installed----> SMC Version:1.4f12
As far as updates,I suggest you use Software Updater. It will push all updates relevant to your specific machine.

One easy way: reset after importing (which can be done from library module - e.g. main menu, context menu, quick-develop...). If you can't even get that far, consider using exiftool to strip the xmp from DNGs and/or jpegs, or just delete xmp sidecar file in case of proprietary raw.

How can I check if I have a software(s) installed on my Ipod touch (4th generation) that download information all the time in the background? My internet downlaod consumption has increased dramatically lately and I cannot solve the problem. An online support person from my internet provider suggested to check that out.

  • How can i check the segment in idoc.

    hi gurus,
how can i check the segment in idoc.please help me as

    Hi Rohit,
In WE02/05 U can view the IDocs.
Since u r having the IDoc with u, Double click the Idoc no. and it will take you to screen where it will show you all the segments of IDoc. Here you can check which segment is giving error.
Go to  WE60/63 which shows the detailed documentation in the MySAP environments if u have been using the old 4.6c systems. In 6.10 since the documentation is not available ,modify your personal settings to show the documentation by default; In 6.10 in transactions WE60 and WE63, documentation is no longer generated by default for the segment fields when the documentation is generated. To activate the generation of the documentation from the corresponding data elements, proceed as follows: WE60/WE63. > Goto > User settings. Here you must set the indicator for 'Display of the documentation' under 'Display attributes for IDOC types' and then save the change. Now the documentation is also displayed for the segment fields when WE60/WE63 is executed.
**Reward points if u find this useful.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • I have 1 GB RAM on an '07 MacBook Pro. 1) How do I check remaining memory? 2) I have Microsoft office 2004 - do I need to buy more RAM to upgrade to '11? 3) I need a new battery ... Is it worth the $$ to buy a new battery, RAM and Microsoft office 2011?

I have a MacBook Pro from '07 with 1 GB of memory. The battery is shot and my AppleCare has run out. I just upgraded the OS to 10.6.8. But a few questions:
1 - How do I even check how much memory I have left on this computer?
2 - How do I check how many battery cycles are left?
3 - I want to upgrade to Microsoft Office '11 because I don't have Adobe Acrobat to creat pdf's and I need to be able to do this for school... Instead of buying acrobat, I figured I would just upgrade to Office '11 because I can generate pdf's from Word. Roughly how much RAM does Office '11 take up?
4 - Does Apple still make batteries for this computer (from '07)? How much do they cost?
5 - How much does 1 more GB of memory cost?
AND lastly -- is it even worth it to spend the $ on more RAM, a new battery and Office '11?
Or does it make more sense to just get a new computer entirely? (trying to avoid this).
ANY help would be sooo appreciated! Thanks.

1 - How do I even check how much memory I have left on this computer?
If you're asking how to check to see if you need more RAM, open Activity Monitor and go to the System Memory tab, then compare page outs and page ins.  If page outs is 10% or more of page ins, you probably need more RAM.
2 - How do I check how many battery cycles are left?
There's no limit on the number of battery cycles, it's just that the more cycles you've used the more "worn out" your battery gets.  You've got a 4-year-old machine, and if it's still got the original battery, it's probably about time for a replacement battery.  You can check battery health using System Profiler...  look at the Power section under Hardware.
3 - I want to upgrade to Microsoft Office '11 because I don't have Adobe Acrobat to creat pdf's and I need to be able to do this for school... Instead of buying acrobat, I figured I would just upgrade to Office '11
You don't need Office 2011 to create PDFs.  Any application capable of printing can create PDFs on a Mac.  Just choose File -> Print, but instead of clicking the Print button in the print dialog, click the PDF button and choose Save As PDF in the menu that appears.
4 - Does Apple still make batteries for this computer (from '07)? How much do they cost?
5 - How much does 1 more GB of memory cost?
I'll "ditto" sig's answers to these.
AND lastly -- is it even worth it to spend the $ on more RAM, a new battery and Office '11?
Or does it make more sense to just get a new computer entirely? (trying to avoid this).
If Office 2004 is still working fine for you, stick with that and don't incur the costs of Office 2011.  As to the RAM, only add more if the test I mentioned above indicates that you need it.  If you buy more RAM when you don't really need it, you won't see much (if any) performance improvement.  That just leaves the battery...  and if the machine is still doing what you need it to do and you don't really need a new machine for anything, you could definitely buy a new battery and get a few more years out of it.

Flashback - Detect and remove the uprising Mac OS X Trojan...
    http://www.mac-and-i.net/2012/04/flashback-detect-and-remove-uprising.html
In order to avoid detection, the installer will first look for the presence of some antivirus tools and other utilities that might be present on a power user's system, which according to F-Secure include the following:
    /Library/Little Snitch
    /Developer/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode
    /Applications/VirusBarrier X6.app
    /Applications/iAntiVirus/iAntiVirus.app
    /Applications/avast!.app
    /Applications/ClamXav.app
    /Applications/HTTPScoop.app
    /Applications/Packet Peeper.app
If these tools are found, then the malware deletes itself in an attempt to prevent detection by those who have the means and capability to do so. Many malware programs use this behavior, as was seen in others such as the Tsunami malware bot.
