How do i check my disk storage?

How do I check the disk storage and usage

Run an App like Grand Perspective or Daisy Disk to visualize all your files, so that you can identify files not needed, or suitable for offloading to an external drive.
You can also get a basic representation from About this Mac, on the Apple menu.

  • How can i check the internal storage of my iPhone 4S?

I need to free storage of my iphone, i clean every thing but there are 6,6 gb that no are apps, music, photos, mail. Does anybody know how to check the internal storage?

Other includes data such as iPhone settings, contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cache/cookies, email and email attachments, SMS/MMS/iMessages, notes, data created and stored by a 3rd party apps.  Don't know what you mean by "did a security copy with iTunes" but if you mean that the capacity guage in iTunes shows that Other is 6.6 GB you have something that is corrupt because it should never be that large.  You will have to restore your phone to fix this.  Import you photos to your computer, backup your contacts, then open iTunes, go the Summary tab of your sync settings and click Restore (you can try creating a backup at the beginning and restoring to that backup at the end but you may have to restore as new to fix this).

  • How-to: how do I check the disk speed on MacBook Pro?

Check your System Profiler. Go to your Apple menu, select "About This Mac," click on "More Info" and click on "Serial-ATA" in your System Profiler. It will give you the make and model number of the drive.

  • How to Check the Disk I/O in ASM

    Hi All,
I have installed the 2 node RAC (10.2.0.4.0) on Enterprise Linux 5.2. I am using ASM to manage the Database Storage using EMC SAN (CX 320). I have configured the seperate LUNs for Datafiles, Redo Log, Archive logs using RAID 1+0. Not using multipathing currently.
How can I check the IO activity , hotspots, disk usage etc from ASM instance? Also looking for your expert advices to monitor the system I/O. Any scripts or utility from where I can back track the cause of High IO. (Using iostat and oswatcher now but it is hard to interpret the output).
    Thanks

    Hi Naveed
Herewith a query to see the disk usage
    select name, type, total_mb, free_mb, required_mirror_free_mb,
    usable_file_mb from v$asm_diskgroup;
Otherwise is it possible for you to reach the ASM OEM home page on your server ?
it contains the following items :
The status of the ASM instance
A chart that shows the used and free space of each disk group
A list of databases that are serviced by the ASM instance
    Alerts and metrics
Links to the ASM Performance, Administration, and Configuration pages

  • How much storage am I allowed on my website and how do I check the amount?

I post a lot of videos on my website. I know they eat storage space. How do I check to see if I'm running out of space? Or, is this a question I should post on the MM discussion?

Just to clarify: I know I am allowed 20 GB of storage on iDisk. I wasn't clear as to whether some of that is just storage, or whether I could post all 20 on my website. Sorry, but I would really appreciate it if you would confirm that is the case. Thanks for helping! (I'm just a gramma. My site is to keep family and friends informed about my physically disabled grandson. I really appreciate that there are users who are willing to take time to help!)

  • How to health check time capsule disk

how to health check time capsule disk?
when doing time machine backuping and copying files into time capsule, it would take ages and very long time.. is the disk going to die soon?
is there anyway i can check the disk?
my time capsule is 2TB current model.
    please help.
    thank you.

Time Machine automatically checks the backups on the disk.  It does a quick check (a few seconds) before every backup, and periodically (every month, I think) does a much more thorough check.
You can do that yourself, by holding the Alt/Option key while selecting the TM icon in your menubar, and selecting Verify Backups.  That may take quite a while, if you have a lot of data.  I'd recommend connecting via Ethernet, as it will still be slow, but 2-3 times faster than WIFI.

  • How i can check new storage after i add it, specially LDAP storage

    Hi
Thank you for reading my post.
is there any way that i can check whether new storages are configured correcyly inside sun access manager 7 or not?
for example I have an LDAP storage and i want to check whether i have add it correctly or not.
    thanks

Ah I see what it is you are doing!
You are reintroducing unformatted text from the Sections.
Sections in a Word Processing document are "Captured" templates of individual page layouts, which includes the formatting of those pages when they were captured. When you Save As Template you have to make sure that the Sections have been fixed and captured, not just the visible pages. It is all Pages' weird way of doing Master Pages.
You will need to recapture the sections after you have changed the language to British English.
See the following link which explains how capturing Sections works:

  • How can I check that my Hard disk is OK

    Hi,
I recently suffered a HD disk crash, all data lost and lucky that I had a backup on an external hard drive.
Can anyone tell me how I can ensure / monitor that my new Hard disk is OK and in good shape?
    Thanks
    Keith

You can check in Disk Utility > Smart Status, it will monitor the internal drive.
If your technically minded, what you do is use Disk Utility booted on another medium like a Carbon Copy Cloner clone drive, then target the internal drive and select the Erase feature and move the slider one space to the right from the left and click Apply.
This will of course will erase everything on the drive, so you need to select the entire drive to erases everything.
The slider moved one space to the right in Disk Utility is what's called a Zero fill, it's typically a security feature for hard drives to remove all traces of data, but it doubles as a method to engage the automatic ability for the driver firmware to map off any bad or failing sectors on the magnetic medium of your hard drive as the Zero's are read back for confirmation.
It's about as low level format as one can do.
Why do this?  Because all drives ship with bad sectors, some with entire defective areas on the drive.
So this Zero fill process helps get rid of most of them and it checks the integrity of the entire drive  BEFORE you lay your data on it.
It results in a very fast read speeds and very reliable hard drive retention of the data you place on it, as it only does so on mostly good sectors.

    Hi,
There are 2 steps you need to do - move DPM server and move data.
For move DPM server, you need to backup DPM database and restore in new server. Please see steps in following article:
Move the DPM server to a different computer
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh757865.aspx
The article also provided steps to migrate data but the link is broken. Please refer to following 2 articles instead:

  • How to check external disk capacity?

    Hi,
Can someone tell me how can I check the free space capacity of an external disk connected to my MacBook Air?
    Thx, Hans

    HI
    Open Finder.
In left column, click on your external drive to hi-light it.
Now select File in top of screen menu, then select Get Info, about half way down the drop down menu.
This will show all features of your external drive.
    Cheers
