How do I choose where Firefox 4 puts a download in Win 7?

In previous versions I was able to tell Firefox where to put downloaded files but I find no way to do this now. Is it possible or is it a function of Windows 7? I am new to ver 7-like 3 days and so far not wowed. In the Forefox drop down there is a heading for downloads but it only give me a window with a review of what I have downloaded. I then have to go an search for the file which Windows has buried in the ozone layer(no changes there!).

no need to reply-just figured it out-the menu bar was not there so I was able to figure out how to put it there

Just curious. When I copy and paste background images, (or any image for that matter) and paste them, they appear randomly out of alignment, nowhere near where the original object was. How does AI choose where these objects are pasted? I see the paste in place option, but is there a key command, like holding down "shift" to have objects paste where your cursor rests?

Cmd+F and Cmd+B are really much more useful than Cmd+V.
They allow you to rearrange the stacking order hands-on instead of moving meatballs in the Layers panel.

This is very frustrating when I have a lot of time invested on the site I'm on and can't upload.

A-Go to upper left corner and select preferences. In general tab,there is an option to ask everytime whenever you are going to put your downloading files.
B-Update your browser and reset it.Might be you are unable to upload because of viruses too. So make sure to scan your pc by a good antivirus. Okay? :)

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is interfering otherwise.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

Why does Firefox put my downloads in the tempfolder, against my order to put them in the downloadfolder?

I set my downloadlocation under Extra--> General to D:\Downloads. But they keep coming in in the Tempfolder. How can this be?

Firefox immediately starts downloading the file in the background and saves the file to the temp folder and doesn't wait until you specify the name and the location (destination folder).
If the file stays in the temp folder then it is possible that your security software is blocking the file and prevents Firefox from moving the file to the specified destination folder.

How do I choose which of purchased items download first?

I am a brand new member of iTunes. I purchased the 6-pack of existing shows for the television series "The Nine." With my 56k dialup connection, I realized after the fact that it's going to take forever to download (estimate 67 hours), however I have been plodding forward. When I do see part of the finished product (4 minutes so far on some episodes), I really like.
Main problem and question: When I brought up my iTunes iStore purchases after quitting initial download, the program selected to download the LAST 3 episodes first, which is frustrating. The little download circles keep spinnning on the last three, and I don't seem to know how to initiate first the pilot episode, which is what I most want. It also seems to want to download three at once; if it would finish pilot faster, I would prefer to just download that by itself. But for the moment, I can't even get it to continue downloading!

You should be able to pause two of the downloads. Just click on the pause symbol on the right in the download window. This should speed up the one you leave downloading.

I use the mobileme sync services so the ical calendars that are synced are those in the "[email protected]" group.

Actually you can't drag the appointment to ano calendar - its says "You can’t make changes to this invitation., Only the organiser can change this event"
Also if you double click on the received appointment and open the window the only calendars shown that you can select are the 'on my mac" ones, and not the sync'd ones.
Any ideas welcome !!

Where to put Concurrent Manager?

Hello,
We are currently running our production EBS (11.5.10.2) as a 2-Tier system on 32 bit Red Hat Linux. We have Web, Forms, Discoverer running on one server and Concurrent Manager, Admin and Database running on another. We will be upgrading the database server to RAC and would like to change to 64 bit.
Also we will be running multiple app servers using shared appl top. Since we cannot leave the Concurrent Manager on the database server once it is 64 bit how to best decide where to put the Concurrent Manager?
I know a couple of options are:
1) Run the Concurrent Manager on a standalone server (no redundancy).
2) Run the Concurrent Manager on 2 standalone servers using Parallel Concurrent Processing (provide redundancy but increase costs/maintenance).
3) Run the Concurrent Manager on the same servers as the Web, Forms, Discoverer using shared appl top.
I'm leaning towards option 3 but would like to hear others opinions. Could we still use PCP in this scenario? Any reasons not to do # 3?

How many servers will you be running?I believe we have 4 total available for the Application Tier. They are fairly robust servers (HP DL-580 (4 CPU each) with 24 Gig of RAM).
I have not seen PCP with Shared APPL_TOP. If you are running multiple Web, Forms, Discoverer servers, it is a good option to run them with their own APPL_TOP and run PCP with hardware based load balancing. Can we just skip PCP and run the 4 servers with Shared APPL_TOP but include everything on the Shared APPL_TOP (Web, Forms, Discoverer, Concurrent Manager)?
I'm trying to do these upgrades in phases and I'm thinking maybe we can get 2 additional servers later and implement PCP then (keeping the 4 Apps servers for Web, Forms, Discoverer).

Where is the application downloaded

Hello,
I have tried out the demo's for web start.
As I understand it, the applet is downloaded onto my computer before it is opened in the web browser. But I can't seem to find where the applet was downloaded. How does it know where to put the files? I thought it would first ask me whether and where on my computer I wanted to download it. So, how do I find where these classes are on my computer?

if you are using linux machine
then there would be a ".javaws" directory created in your home dir or the place where you installed jws. the down loaded files are kept in the cache dir under the .javaws dir.
if you are running on some other platform there would be something similar. you can start the javaws form command line go file/preference open the preference .. there you will see a tab named as 'advanced' on that tab you can see the dir location for - Application folder.

Your list of plugins shows that you have installed Flash 10.2 r152 which is the current release version.

This question can have many answers. If you selected, as you downloaded the file, a custom place to place the download, Firefox will have stored the file there (if the download was successfully completed). If you forgot where it was, you can go into Tools > Downloads, rightclick the file you want, and select "Open Containing Folder".
If Firefox did not ask you where to save the file, you go into Tools > Options > General and select the location where Firefox will store your downloads. Here, you can also configure it to ask you every time you choose to save a download. As before, you can go into Tools > Downloads and ask for the containing folder.
If you simply opened the download without asking Firefox to save it, it's possible that you can still access your file (if you did not close Firefox in the meantime). Files are are opened and not stored, are temporarily placed in a cache folder so you can use it while your Firefox session lasts. Simply go into Tools > Downloads, and, as before, ask for the containing folder. From there, you can copy/cut the file and paste it anywhere you want.

In that case, there may be a problem with your Finder preferences or window settings.
Try removing these files, then restarting:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
~/Desktop/.DS_Store
Let me know if you're not sure how to do that.
