How do I chop my iMovie into three parts?

To split a fully edited movie into three parts -
While in Project Library view (where all your projects are listed), right-click or Control-click on your project. From the pop-up menu, select Duplicate Project. Do this 3 times so that you have 4 identical projects - the original (for safe-keeping) plus 3 copies.
If desired, rename each of the duplicates, such as My Movie Pt 1, My Movie Pt 2 and My Movie Pt 3 (or whatever you like). Even without renaming, iMovie will ascribe a number to each duplicate, while including the name of the original movie.
Now delete sections from each duplicate so that you end up with 3 separate movies, each with their own content.
Note that duplicating projects doesn't take up much extra drive space. Projects simply reference (point to) the actual video clips in the associated Event (as well as keeping track of any added transitions, titles, music, effects and so forth).

  • How to bring my valid iMovie into Soundtrack Pro as a multitrack?

Hello kind people. My most hummed song right now is "I can't get started with you." To my shame, I am unable to bring my valid iMovie into Soundtrack Pro as a multitrack. I have brought the audio alone, but that leaves me grabbing at air. There must be a simple way. Who will tell me how?

Try exporting a Quicktime movie from iMovie, then drag the quicktime movie onto the video track (or drop it into the video window) in Soundtrack Pro.

  • How do I make one song into two separate songs?

I have a song on my iTunes that I want to to split into two different songs, each with different names, and that can be played right after each other in the album. Is there an easy way to split up this song into two different parts, and if so, how? Thanks!

That is a common capability of DJ programs, but cannot be done with iTunes.

  • How do I count events falling into three categories?

    Hello everyone,
My name is Sean Cummings. I am very new to Labview and this is my first post on the forum. I work for a testing facility dealing with automotive components. I run test cells and build parts. I recently commissioned a new test cell at our location which came from another one of our facilities. The test cell impacts axles. The Labview program we use to run the cell was created by one of our few programmers. He is extremely busy and works in another facility so I have taken it upon myself to learn more about Labview and try on my own to make improvements to the software. I plan to attend some of the Core Labview classes if I find that I enjoy working with the software (so far i do).
Currently the program is mostly manually controlled. Data paths and controls such as speed are commanded by the operator. There is a 4 second automated cycle in which the Labview VI commands clutches to initate the impact and aquires data from 3 load cells and a speed sensor. Once this cycle is complete the operator must click a button to open a call by reference subvi. The subvi analyzes the impact data and displays a graph as well as several calculated data points. The operator is then required to open an excel spreadsheet and manually enter the data. I created the spreadsheet with conditional formatting to show the operator whether the impact event was within the acceptable range and to track impacts over target, in target range, and under target. Currently each part runs 400 impact cycles and the operator must transfer 6 data points for each impact. In the next couple weeks we will be testing parts going 1640 impact cycles. We need a better solution to make the process more efficient.
My original thought was to have the subvi populate the excel spreadsheet automatically. After several days of trial and error I was able to speak to a programmer from another facility who explained to me that excel was not not a text based software and my methods would not work without the Labview excel toolkit.
I then talked to the engineers within my company and they agreed with me that the excel spreadsheet was not necessary if Labview could track the impact events internally. I then set to work trying to create counters and indicators to track the impact events. For this to work I only need to look at one number. This number is the Total Output Torque from the impact event. I created 3 boolean indicators on the main VI. One for impacts over target, one in range, and one under target. I also created 3 corrosponding indicators to show counts for each. I also need an indicator showing total impact events, and an indicator showing valid impact events (the sum of in range and over target).  I use a control for the target . The range is + or - 5% from target. I have done my best to research and try to do this myself, but I can't quite get it right. I am using while loops to count. I encounter problems with multiple counts for the same event. I would also like to trigger the counters at the same time and not have separate stop commands for each.
For this to be effective I will probably have to make these functions a subvi. I would need them to initiate when the call by reference "analysis" subvi is called and stop when it stops so maybe they can just be part of that subvi.  I need the indicators and control for target to be on the main UI. I also need a button to reset the counts when impact direction and target is changed.
I apologize for any misuse of terminology. I also apoligize if my program is a mess. This is all very new to me and I'm trying to learn as much as possible. Thanks you all in advance for your help.

Wow! Thank you guys for the quick response and pointing me in the right direction!
Altenbach, your example does exactly what I need!
Moving forward I should be able to reference the actual total torque number from the call by reference subvi and have the event structure initiate based on the change of that number correct?
I tried something like this already and for some reason when I add a terminal to the terminal pane on the subvi it does not show up on the main vi. I can only imagine this is because the sub vi is "call by reference". The subvi already outputs an indicator to the front panel of the main vi called "total torque". This is inside a case structure so I don't know how to reference it for the subvi which you created.
Again, I just want to say I am very thankful I am for the help. I am not here looking for free programming help. I am here asking questions because I truly want to learn. I know I will have to spend a lot more time reading tutorials and practicing basics. This program was just given to me last minute and I'm doing my best. Usually I am very resourceful and can find solutions on my own. This one was just over my head. Thank you.

  • How do I convert an iMovie into a another format?

My web site and others require a FLV, AVI, MOV, MPEG, MP4, M4V, WMV format and less than than 512mb.

I need to call Virb about that website though.
The iMovie was about the tornado that hit here.
The storms that hit Joplin, Missouri were worse than what Tuscaloosa experienced. Katrina and other hurricanes, including last month's Irene, were beyond imaginable in destruction. But there's nothing quite like being in the middle of a disaster and seeing the devastating effects on familiar territory.
As a photographer I was compelled to capture scenes that literally made me sick. I felt empathy towards those who lives had been turned upside down and always left storm damaged areas feeling physically and emotionally drained. Even though I was spared the sight of victims in the rubble I saw their clothing, toys and furniture strewn on the ground. The awful smell that was in some areas is unforgettable.
I processed the storm images with a surreal high dynamic range look. Some were taken with professional equipment; some, with only a point and shot camera. The music "When I'm Nervous" that I licensed from Stock 20 seemed to be appropriate for my iMovie.

  • How to edit a large movie into smaller, separate movies?

.: Hello. This question is so basic I'm embarrassed to ask it, but I am stuck. I am a new user to iMovie 6, and bought and am reading David Pogue's iMovie 6 & iDVD The Missing Manual, but can't seem to find an answer to what must be the most basic editing task. I have a couple of 40-50 minute movie clips made with a Flip Ultra. I imported one into iMovie 6, and it took about 25 minutes to do so, and appears as a DV-NTSC clip. The movie is 42:21:10, and is of a concert. I want to extract the video of the performance of each individual song, and create a series of smaller movies, each one featuring one song.
I cannot for the life of me determine how to do this. I'm deep inside Chapter 5 of David's book, where he discusses trimming, cropping, splitting, etc., but I can't figure out how to save a cropped clip so that it can be made into a new movie. I am near tears at this point. This MUST be the easiest, simplest thing to do in iMovie, and I can't get past the starting gate.
If anyone can help me with some pointers and advice, I'll be very grateful.
    Thank you and kind regards.

Open a new movie project side by side with the initial one, and drag the cropped clip into it.

  • How to split a "project" (movie) into two separate projects.

After converting two Hi-eight tapes into digital format for use with iMovie 10.0.3 (?), I created a movie called "Japan 1994" , complete with titles, imported still photos, etc. But it was over 2 hours long. (My wife considers any movie longer than 29 minutes 59 seconds as cruel and unusual punishment under the U.S. constitution). So I went to Imovie "Help" .....Hah!!!, surfed the web with my problem, with further frustration. So, I devised my own method:
      1. Created two new (empty) movies, "Nihon 1" and "Nihon 2" (Nihon=Japan, in Japanese)
    2. In  "Japan 1994", found a convenient break point rougly half way through, shift selected several clips up to the half way point.
    3. copied all of these at one time (command C)
    4. Opened "Nihon 1" and pasted (command V) these clips into this project.
    5. Repeated steps 2, 3, 4 for the second "half" (into "Nihon 2")
All of this produced two separate projects of around 1 hour each. Added appropriate titles at the beggining and end of each of the new movies.
    Worked like a charm.
Hope this helps other users of iMoive 10. (whatever).

I have a sandwich. I have been searching how to split the sandwich but it seems you don't split a sandwich. Someone said look in a draw for a tool or something!
    Wow.
There are lots of ways to do what you're asking besides what has been said. You can double click the clip in the Browser. Set In & Out points in the viewer and add the Clip to the sequence. No need to split or cut anything in the sequence.
You really need to learn a bit more before you continue cause this is a pre-noob question. I don't really know how to categorise it.

  • In the itunes library, a single album appears to be split into two separate parts, how do i combine them?

my itunes library has several albums that are split into two parts. one contains half of the album's songs and the other the other half. how do i combine these so the album only appears once in it's entirety?

Generally setting a common Album Artist will fix things.

  • How can I download an iMix into a separate playlist?

Everytime I download an iMix, the songs are scattered all over my iTunes library. Other than recreating the iMix by creating a new playlist and then individually dragging each of the songs into the new playlist, is there any way that this can be done automatically?
In other words, if I buy an iMix called "Running Music", how do I get these songs to appear on iTunes (and also on the iPod) as a playlist called "Running Music".
    Thanks for helping a newbie.
Macbook Dual Intel   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I don't know if it can be done automatically (I don't think it can be), but you can sort your library by "Date Added" and the songs you bought should all be grouped together. Then you can select them all and create a playlist...Should be easier than searching for each one. You can do the same thing on your iPod via iTunes.
    I hope this helps,

  • How to split a video clip into two separate clips?

Whenever i enter the key word to search for split, it always shows me how to do split edit, or split screen. I do not want that. I just need to know, how to cut a video/audio clip into two pieces, so that I can cut one of them out of the time line....
    Could somebody help....
    Thanks

  • When capturing HD, FCP breaks up the raw footage into many separate parts

I'm using FCP and trying to capture some HD footage. When I try this, it captures, but all my footage (about 30 mins worth) is broken up by FCP into smaller segments, so instead of one single 30 minute file (which is what I usually get) I get 45 separate chunks that range from 2 minutes long to only 3 or 4 seconds. Obviously, this doesn't lend itself to very easy editing.
I've captured HD without this problem before. I've also captured this exact same footage to iMovie HD without any problem, so I'm pretty sure it's not my tape. Anyone know why FCP would suddenly start doing this?
    I'm using a G5 iMac 20 with 2.5 megs of RAM and OSX 10.4.9
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I'm just using a Canon HV-10 as my "deck" and importing via FireWire 400.
I think the problem was my external capture drive. I have only firewire 400 and I don't think it was fast enough to capture, so it broke it up. I could capture the entire thing in one shot if I captured direct to my internal hard drive but not to the external.
Anyone know how to fix this beyond capturing to the internal drive and then transferring it over to the external one? I bought a 1 TB external firewire drive specifically for my HD projects and I'd like to be able to capture directly to it, if at all possible.

  • How do i export an imovie to a facebook group?

It is easy to export to a Facebook account, but how do I export to a Facebook Group that has restricted access? The Group under my account is a Private Group which means only members of the group can view its content, however from both my iPhone and in iMovie three is no reference to Facebook Groups of any kind.
How can I export my iMovie into my private group without making it public eg through my main FB account or via a service such as YouTube? I just want the file to be in the private group and not visible to non-members.
    TIA

Thanks for your reply Matt, that is what I have been doing, but I was really hoping it would be possible to do this from the Sharing menu on either or both of my iPhone or iMovie.
I guess I shall be disappointed yet again. As so often, "So much promise, so little delivery."
