How do I clean up old installations of Adobe Acrobat Pro?

It is now taking about 45 minutes to create a pdf from word by printing to the adobe pdf printer. I should take about 5. I had an older version (Pro X), downloaded the demo of Pro XI and then found the software had deleted my older version. I uninstalled Pro XI, reinstalled Pro X and had problems getting it to work. So I upgraded to Pro XI and tried to do a clean install and I still can't get it to run properly. Any ideas?

Sounds like you need to deactivate XI and then uninstall all versions (use control panel>Programs & Features if needed). Run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html. Remove any leftover Acrobat folders. Finally, reboot and install. Hopefully the cleaner will clean out your registry and resolve the issue.

Incomplete installation of Adobe Acrobat Pro X - ERROR: DW006 - ERROR: DW050

Hi,
On trying to run a failed update from Adobe, my Adobe Acrobat Pro X became corrupt and failed to open.
I am now trying to reinstall the software, but the software does not install successfully with Exit Code: 6 and the following key warnings and errors:

Please help! I uninstalled the corrupt version X before this installation attempt.
I also still have Acrobat Pro 9 on my machine as backup (for this precise reason) but don't believe this is the problem as they have co-existed without a problem for near a month now. The corruption in version X occured after this morning's failed update from Adobe.

Thank you! That did indeed do the trick
Must have been a font or something causing the problems, as opening in safe mode allowed the software to install correctly.

Problem is that my pdf files look terrible although I have MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014). I have Adobe Creative Suite Design Standard version 6.0 (Mac). I have installed every possible update. I think problem is that for some reason my CS doesn´t support retina display? If I view a pdf file in iMessage, it looks fantastic. But if I open the same document in Adode Acrobat Pro, it looks awful. What can I do?

Thank you. These are documents I have created my self, either by scanning in or saving as pdfs. I checked on of the documents and it says No Security. And Allowed is listed for all the Document Restrictions Summary choices.
Some background. I first purchased Adobe Acrobat 5 which I used for years. For reasons unknown to me I then purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. It has never allowed me to do anything with the text so I've always ended up with the 5 and only used the 9 to read pdfs sent to me that were newer versions and would not open in 5.
I have just purchased a new computer, Windows 7 OS and now my 5 will no longer work and I am stuck with 9. I have searched the Adobe website to find out how, if one owns the software - paid cold hard (and a goodly amount) cash - one turns on the editing function and have failed miserable. I did try support, but they pretty much hang up if you say the word "9". A couple of techs did try to steer me in some direction which ended up being this forum so....long story short, when one purchases the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 software, where does one go to turn on the advanced editing capabilities so that the icons are not dimmed out.

How to get back my old version of Adobe Acrobat

How do I get my old Adobe Acrobat back. It worked great for what little I use it. I was updated to Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.04 and do not need that complex of software for just Creating a PDF file and being able to print a copy when I need it. Now if I try to print anything out of Word I am told my trial is over and if I want anything printed from word I have to buy the new acrobat. Why did is get rid of my old version which I got in school?

It should not have gotten rid of the old version. First try uninstalling the new version and see if the old version comes out of hiding.
If you need to reinstall the older version, you might be able to find it at the site linked below, but you will need to have the serial number for it to activate it to full use.

Installation of Adobe Acrobat Pro X from DVD stalls and does not continue?

I recently purchased the DVD version of Acrobat Pro X for macintosh and the installation does not seem to progress? It keeps adding time to the 'running package scripts' page. I quit the installer and tried again and not it gets stuck again saying 'waiting for other installations to complete'. I haven't even been able to put in a serial number yet...help!

Without knowing anything about your system or your Internet connection we can't really tell you much. This error is on your end - the connection drops out or the files get damaged when saved to disk. Try another browser and check your Internet.

I got a new computer and need to transfer the acrobat software over to the new machine but I have and old version of it. All I can get to download is the newest version of acrbat that I think is XI or something but my license that I have had doesn't work for that version. How do I set customized changes in Custom Toolsets during deployed installation on Adobe Acrobat Pro XI?

I am trying to set settings in the Custom Toolsets, specifically Protection\Redaction Properties - Example: Changing highlight color and enabling text overlay. Is there a way to modify the settings for a deployment? I am unable to find a way through the Customization wizard and am having trouble finding documentation on deploying customized settings to toolsets.

How to change numbers of PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended #9

I just combined 3 PDF files that had their own numbering into one. I have searched how to change this file into a consecutive numbering with no success. I do the steps outlined to open the Number options, but when filling in the blanks, and making choices, nothing changes on the pages ... just in the thumbnail section.

How do I remove a digital signature from Adobe Acrobat Pro. I have set it up wrongly.

I created a digital signature but I wanted to change the signature and it also was not password protected. So I deleted the signature but cannot delete the certificate to set it up again.

So I am unable to delete the digital signature in Acrobat Xi pro.
I did the following: Adobe | Preferences | Signatures | Creation and Appearance Preferences and deleted the signature. But Adobe | Preferences | Signatures | Digittal ID and Trusted Certificate Settings, does not want to delete.

It's not clear to me what you're trying to accomplish. If you get rid of your digital ID you will still be prompted to create/add one when you need to sign a form, which you say you still need to do? Do you really just want to e-sign (hand-drawn signature, or stamp) instead of digitally sign? Do the forms you're using have digital signature fields?

How do I restore the "Pages" button on Adobe Acrobat Pro?

I clicked the Pages button, usually seen in the grey bar on the upper left side of the screen, and accidentally pulled it out of the bar. Now it's gone. I suppose I don't know my own strength.

There are two ways. The following is for Acrobat 9, but it's similar for Acrobat 10:
1, View > Navigation Panels > Reset Panels
2. View > Navigation Panels > Pages, and then click on the word "Pages" (as opposed to the top bar) in the floating window and drag back to the navigation pane.

If you have some programming experience you could probably do this using VBA from within MS Access to control Acrobat via OLE.
