How do i clear address bar history?

I tried Ctrl+Shift+Delete and selected all the options and set the time range to everything but it still auto fills the address bar when i type.

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:
#click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
#highlight an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or cursor Down key<br>do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
#press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry
You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • How to automatically clear search-bar history?

    Hello,
Is there a FF built-in feature or an addon to periodically clear the location bar history (which seems to be separate from the location bar history)?.
As above, is there a way to erase only certain searches from the search-bar history, for example those which match a pre-defined pattern?
    Thanks.

Don't right-click on the icon, right-click on the search box, this way you can "Clear Search History".

How do you clear google search history. I tried the clear history in settings and all the old searches are still there

In Safari, use the open book symbol to go to bookmarks. At the top of the list is "History", tap history and then tap the clear button on the bottom left of the screen.  That clears the search history as well.

How do I clear the browsing history on my iPad 2?

Settings > Safari > Clear History (and Clear Cookies And Data if you want to clear them as well).
If you also want to clear your search history (i.e. the words/phrases that you've typed in the search box) then you may also need to close Safari completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

Hi, I recently updated one of my add-ons (I believe it was Adobe Flash) and now my address bar history won't work. My history is being recorded, but I can't jump back to previously visited pages via the address bar.
This only happened yesterday, if anybody can offer a solution, well thanks.

  • How to display Site Title in Address Bar History

Titles of sites are displayed in the History drop-down menu, but when I start typing in the Address Bar only the URLs of matching sites are displayed, not the names. This is really frustrating if you have a site like a forum with a numbering scheme:
    forum.site.com/forum.php?1
    forum.site.com/forum.php?2
    etc...
Firefox displays the site titles like this:
    forum.site.com/forum.php?1 Help Forum
    forum.site.com/forum.php?2 General Forum
    etc...
Is there any way to make Safari (3) behave like Firefox in this respect?

    Brian, I understand your frustration.
Just a note. I use QuickSilver a lot, and its Safari plugin module has some form of bookmark and history searching involving page titles. I don't use it myself, but I know that it's available. I understand it's not what you're looking for exactly, but it might be a viable workaround if you care to explore it more than I have.

  • Clearing address bar w/ safari

I can't clear my address bar. I've cleared history, cleared cache, reset safari, unchecked boxes in auto fill under preference (and cleared the edit next to box). I use a new powerbook with tiger, HOW DO YOU CLEAR THE ADDRESS BAR????

If you have cleared your history and cache and the sites are still appearing but you don't think they are bookmarks, run the following test:
    1. Close Safari.
    2. Go to the user name>Library>Safari folder.
    3. Drag the Bookmarks.plist file to your desktop.
    4. Open Safari.
    5. Before doing anything else, clear your cache & history.
    6. Type some addresses into the address window and see what pops up.
    7. Close Safari.
    8. Drag Bookmarks.plist from your desktop back to the user name>Library>Safari folder.
    9. Click on Replace to have your original bookmarks file replace the new, empty one created by Safari when you ran this test.

  • Delete/Reset Address Bar History

How can I delete the address bar's history. In-other-words when I type an address in how can I reset it so that when I begin to type it doesn't automatically attempt to finish an address for me? Like when I type "www.app" it doesn't attempt to finish it with "www.apple.com"?
    Thanks for any help,
    Tony

    Tony,
If you want to eliminate autofill entries you must Reset Safari: Apple provide a quick way to empty the cache, clear cookies, erase history and reset autofill information. This can often provide a quick fix for improving performance. The disadvantage is that you will need to re-enter log in information on sites that had previously stored data in cookies.Any URL information from your Bookmarks will remain valid and will show up in autofill.
You should also Empty the Cache.

  • SAFARI 6: how do I clear Google search history?

There used to be an option at the bottom of the scroll down search bar for CLEAR SEARCH.
Now that Safari 6 has adopted the single info bar, that option seems to have disappeared.
So how do I clear search history?
I don't want to clear all history (i.e. sites visited),
    just search history.

    Thank you,
but the point of my question was precisely that in 2012,
the way that Google is presented within Safari is different
(e.g., there is now just a single search bar),
so some of the info on the old threads is no longer relevant.
That is why I titled the qustion clearly "SAFARI 6".
However, I have discovered the answer myself.
I think I was being just too impatient.
The same option of CLEAR RECENT SEARCHES  does come up
if you click and hold on the magnifying glass icon to the left of what is now the single Google search bar.
This click and hold opens a roll-down menu, and near the bottom is the CLEAR RECENT SEARCHES option.

  • Clear address bar of data

    Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knows how to clear the address bar
of a browser after you are taken to a webpage and returned to the
original page. For example I have a list of potential clients on a
web page with a link to a detail page, I click the link go to the
detail page and make an edit. I have the redirect back to the
orginal page and now if I was to click another clients I get an
error because in the address bar I still have data from the
previous detail page. It looks like
"deleteaccesstomofsystem2.asp?ID=11&ID=10" As you can see it
keeps concatinating the ID= whatever you click next. Problem is you
    get an error.
    Thanks,
    Lenny

  • How do I clear Navigation bar? Under Tools "clear private date" does not bring up a dialog box.

I'm trying to clear the navigation bar. Where I type in the web address "www.somethingsomething.com"... The list under there is too long. Using the Tools pull down menu and selecting "clear private data" does nothing. No box pops up. Under options, I've done everything to clear out the history. Everything remains. Any help? Thanks.

Ok, I put a check in the box "Ask me before clearing private data"... now a box does pop up... Items checked are "browsing history, cache cookies, offline website data and authenticated sessions". Item not checked "saved passwords". Items listed but in light gray and unable to put a check "download history, saved form & search history." I hit the "clear private data now" option, nothing happens, except that box goes away. I click on the little down arrow on the navigation bar, and all the things are still there. I'm beyond dumbfounded why! Help please. Thank you.

  • Clear address bar suggestions

I have this annoying problem that I so far can't find a solution for. I have been using Firefox for ages, and until recently this wasn't a problem. In the past, when I wanted to clear history (all history whatsoever) I could just hit the "Clear recent history" and then cross the "Browsing & download history" and "Form & Search history" and select everything in the dropdown-menu. Now this doesn't do the trick! Firefox still remembers which sites I have visited by suggesting them in the address bar. Let's say I'm visiting randomwebsite.com, and then clear the history as above. Then when I type in "ra" in the address bar, it will suggest randomwebsite.com. I can't find ANY ways to work around this, other than disabling the suggestions altogether, which is not what I want.
    I use Mac OS 10.9.2., Firefox 29.0.

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?esab=a&s=troubleshooting&r=3&as=s#w_5-reinstall-firefox here].
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.
