How do I clear old alerts?

Hi,
On my Grid Control home page, I have 311 warnings. Some of these warnings are no longer applicable and some of them are on metrics that I am no longer monitoring on. For instance, I am not interested in whether somebody has logged in to a database as the SYS user, especially not when it occurred six weeks ago!
How can I clear these alerts? Some alerts have a check box beside them, so I can check the check box and click "Clear Alert". For most of the alerts, the check box is greyed out.
Thank you for any insight on this!
Maria

Thank you for your response! I had actually made a search and come across the thread that you are referencing, but I would really like to do this through the front-end at this point, and I am amazed that there doesn't seem to be a simple way to do it! What use is the home page summary if there is so much noise!
Anyhow, I figured out a way to clear these warnings through the front-end, although not by checking a simple check box and pressing a button, that I would have preferred. I set the threshold of warning and critical to way beyond what is ever likely to happen, and set the collection schedule to once per minute. The alerts cleared. Then, I disabled the collection altogether.
Regards,
Maria

  • How do I clear old alerts on OEM homepage?

I am using OEM 11g.  There are over 375 alerts sitting in the "Alert Triggered" section on the homepage of the OEM.  Some are nearly a year old and the relying  have been resolved and still have not cleared.  I could go through each one and manually clear an alert, however because of hardware constraints that is a very time-consuming process that will take me several hours to handle.  Is there a way to do a batch manual clear.
There is also a full tablespace alert from nearly six months ago that was addressed immediately.  Datafiles were added and made auto-extensible.  Yet that alert remains.  How do I clear it? Christine

Im running out of space, how do I clear old content temp files old apps?
i have done the browser cache and cleared history.I am clearing items off the macbook pro but is there other areas i should clean
    Thanks

Im running out of space, how do I clear old content temp files old apps?
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. Temp files get automatically deleted when you restart. Old apps you can either uninstall (if it was originally installed with an installer, there should be an uninstaller somewhere) or drag it to the trash. What's "old content"?
i have done the browser cache and cleared history.
This is not going to give you back much space.

  • How do I clear old emails/passwords from my Mac?

Whenever I visit a site it will autofill my old email address with the password.  I have tried several times to save the new email/password to specific sites but my system will always autofill the old email/password.  How do I clear this?
    Thank you,

    Hello Moms90,
You can edit or remove your Safari remembered passwords in the Safari > Preferences > AutoFill > User names and passwords > Edit
(which may take you to a Passwords pane).

  • How do I clear old form data?

When you're filling in forms, as you enter the first letter, all options beginning with that letter appear - allowing you to select one rather than type in an entry.
Some of those drop down suggestions can get pretty long. How do you remove entries - or clear them?

    From : http://kevmarl.com/2008/10/20/how-to-delete-a-single-saved-form-data-entry-in-mozilla-firefox
Click on the test entry box form where your data is.
Press down till you get to the incorrect/old/unwanted entries.
    Press shift+del.
    Repeat for all others.
    Viola!

  • HT203177 how do i clear old backups from time machine to make more space

My 2TB Time Machine is nearly full.  I am trying to back up a drive in a Mac Min that is starting to fail and wanted to do so on Time Machine.  Unfortunately since my Time Machine is nearly full it will not back up drive without eliminating nearly all of the files on this Mini.  I am okay overwriting the other backups already on the Time Machine but do not know how to force Time Machine to do so.  Please any clues on how to make Time Machine overwrite other backups would be greatly appreciated.

About TM "Backup Drive is Full" Alert
TM only deletes older files if they have been deleted from the source and when TM needs space on the backup drive for a new incremental backup. Time Machine "thins" it's backups; hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first of the day; those "daily" backups over 30 days old, except the first of the week. The weeklies are kept as long as there's room.
So, how long a backup file remains depends on how long it was on your Mac before being deleted, assuming you do at least one backup per day. If it was there for at least 24 hours, it will be kept for at least a month. If it was there for at least a week, it will be kept as long as there's room.
Note, that on a Time Capsule the sparsebundle grows in size as needed, but doesn't shrink. Thus, from the user's view of the TC it appears that no space has been freed, although there may be space in the sparsebundle.
Once TM has found it cannot free up enough space for a new backup it reports the disk is full. You can either erase the backup drive and start your backups anew or replace the drive with a larger drive.
As you can see Time Machine does prune old backups to make space, but eventually it may no longer succeed. Then you will get the alert. You can delete old backups if you wish, but only using the Time Machine application.

  • Clearing old alerts

Oem grid is generating alerts . Even long after the problem is resolved the alerts are not cleared . These alerts are for space on filesystem / archiv destiantion full .
we are using gird 10.2.0.3.0 version .
    Any help would be appericated
    Thanks
    Narendra

These alerts should clear after you have resolved the space issue so the space left is within your set thresholds.
If you are sure this is the case, stop the agent, issue a clearstate command and restart the agent.
    does the alert clear then?
Also, what version of agents are you using?

  • How do i clear old songs from nano

Hi there - I have a Nano which is full and I have a new pc and when connecting to Ipod to ITunes I am clicking sync and nothing is happening.  How do I either sync everything from the Nano to ITunes or clear it all down and start again if the library doesn't recognise the songs?

    Just unsync the music.
Or you can restore the iPd to factory defaults/new iPod if you really want a blank slate.

  • How do I clear old email from the cloud?

You can delete them en masse from ...

  • How do I clear old MobileMe info from iCal?

I had such a bad experience with losing iCal data because of auto synch with the iCal MobileMe that I deleted my iCal Calendar, AddressBook and Mail files from MobileMe. (I still have an account but wonder why I am doing so.) Periodically I get a synch query with iCal informing me there is a synch conflict with MobileMe info. I have checked my MobileMe preferences and they are now blank, so my computer cannot be going out and seeing something from MobileMe. I checked it also, it has no calendar nor addressbook.
Where are the MobileMe synch files stored?
Can someone tell me how to free myself of this problem. Until I experience trouble free operation, I will never trust MobileMe, and possibly not even then.

I did that months ago and then removed all of the info that would provide my computer info to connect to MobileMe. Once the data is going, there is no Synch option. However, I think there is still synch data residing somewhere and I need to remove that.
I could not find MobileMe in ~/Library, nor synch except as iSynch in Application Support. I deleted everything within SyncLocalCopy. Nw I will see.

  • How do I clear old files when the passwords are long forgotten?

    Ditto

The idea of password-protecting documents is that they can only be opened by someone who has the password.  If it was made easy to crack these passwords, the whole idea would be useless.
However, I am pretty sure that if you google that there are some 3rd-party software that may offer such services.

Uninstalling iTunes just removes the program.  It does not remove the database or media files which are what you see when the program opens.
Trash the iTunes folder.  Not the program but the one at \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\ or whatever location is provided for the system version you are running in:

  • Clear the Alert list

    Hi all,
How can I clear the alert list displayed in the first page of OEM 10.2?
    Thanks ,
    Simon

    Hello together,
I'm running the older grid control: 10.1.0.3.
Have a look at the body of EM_SEVERITY:
    -- PURPOSE
-- Deletes the current severity for the given target.
    -- IN PARAMETERS
    -- p_target_guid - target_guid for which the current severity
    -- has to be deleted.
    -- p_metric_guid - metric_guid for which the current severity
    -- has to be deleted.
-- p_key_value - key value for which the current severity
    -- has to be deleted.
    -- OUT PARAMETERS
    -- None.
    -- ERROR CODES
    -- None.
    -- NOTES
-- This is private routine called only by the severity_trigger
    PROCEDURE delete_current_severity(p_target_guid IN RAW,
    p_metric_guid IN RAW,
    p_key_value IN VARCHAR2) IS
    BEGIN
    DELETE FROM MGMT_CURRENT_SEVERITY
    WHERE target_guid = p_target_guid
    AND metric_guid = p_metric_guid
    AND key_value = p_key_value;
    END delete_current_severity;
this code will shurely works - but there is a trigger mentioned in the comment:
    SYSMAN.SEVERITY_DELETE (after delete from MGMT_SEVERITY):
    BEGIN
    DELETE FROM MGMT_CURRENT_SEVERITY s
    WHERE s.severity_guid = :old.severity_guid;
-- Following deletes should move to rollups when
-- we implement rollups for severities
-- Delete all annotations for this severity
    DELETE FROM MGMT_SEVERITY_ANNOTATION a
    WHERE a.severity_guid = :old.severity_guid;
-- Delete notification history for this severity
    DELETE FROM MGMT_NOTIFICATION_LOG l
    WHERE l.source_obj_type = mgmt_global.G_ANNOTATION_SOURCE_SEVERITY
    AND l.source_obj_guid = :old.severity_guid;
    END;
so deleting MGMT_SEVERITY seems to be the better way.
Anyone who has experience with this?
    Best regards
    Andreas
