How do I clear old emails/passwords from my Mac?

Whenever I visit a site it will autofill my old email address with the password.  I have tried several times to save the new email/password to specific sites but my system will always autofill the old email/password.  How do I clear this?
Thank you,
Moms90

Hello Moms90,
You can edit or remove your Safari remembered passwords in the Safari > Preferences > AutoFill > User names and passwords > Edit
(which may take you to a Passwords pane).
Safari 5.1 (OS X Lion): AutoFill preferences

How do I keep my email password from remaining in Preferences? I want to enter it every time I get my mail. I upgraded to OS M Lion but it won't let me delete it from preferences (the password from Account Info). Once you enter the password, it keeps it permanently. i do not want that.  It's worked prior to using M. Lion. Any suggestions? Also, The other pressing issue i have is, I DO NOT want ANY mail showing in my inboxes when Mail starts UNTIL i enter that password for each account. Instead of creating different user accounts for the MacBook, it's just easier this way. Or is it? If this is a permanent thing, then I may switch back to Lion. I guess I shoud've waited until the kinks were out before installing (**** Mac-head!)
Thank you all kindly for any suggestions & your time
    Regards,
    JC

That is simply not possible with Mail, and never has been.  Anyone who uses your account can see all messages stored in Mail.  The only true solution is to not let other people use your account.  Let other people use the guest account, or if you share the machine with someone else, set up a separate user account for that person.  This will also solve the problem of remembering the password.  It will become a non-issue for Mail to remember your password if nobody else has access to your account.

How do I delete old email addresses from the pop-up list that comes up when I put a letter into the "To" box? They are not in my Address Book.  Wrong addresses get in the way and I sometimes select the wrong one.

Edit the list the comes up when you go to the Window menu and select "Previous Recipients".

    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iCal/Previous Recipients.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch the application and test. If there's no change, quit again and put the item you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the item you moved.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select

  • How to delete an old email address from an Apple ID

We have a number of iPads, iPhones, iPods etc. These all share the same Apple ID.  In the past I used an email address from BT which I no longer have access to and have forgotten the password to. We now have an active Apple ID which I have used for this iPad. I have tried to reset this iPad but it will not allow me to or to delete and update the iCloud backup as it asks for the old BT internet Apple ID password, even though the iPad is logged in with the new active one. Please advise how I can delete the old account from the iPad.

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreated the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • How can I clear an expired password from my browser without clearing my whole cache?

The password to one of my email accounts has expired and needs to be changed. However, Mozilla has saved it in the "password" space on my login page for this email account, and I cannot clear it. I have been told that I must clear "Forms" from my browser. However, when I follow the directions on the Mozilla site for clearing parts of my history, "Forms and Searches" is prechecked and grayed out, so clicking on it produces nothing.
Is there a way to clear the saved password without clearing my entire history?

  • How do I clear the email addresses from Mail memory auto-fill?

I am constantly getting emails back from people I didn't mean to email, thanks to the auto-fill option in my email. I don't mind mail remembering the people in my address book, but not EVERYONE I've ever sent or received an email from. Does anyone know how to clear the cache in my mail memory?

  • How can I delete old email addresses from the "From" drop down menu when sending emails?

I have some old email addresses, I think may be aliases that show up in the drop down box  in the "From" in email messages that I send.
They don't show up anywhere in the Preferences/Accounts panel at all.
    Very perplexed at this one.

From the Mail menubar, click Window and select Previous recipients. In there you can delete old email contacts.

  • How can I delete old email addresses from auto complete?

Hello to everyone on this great forum,
I have been having trouble trying to find out how to delete the old typed email history. For an example, if I go to send a picture to Bob, I start typing Bob and it comes up with 3 old emails of his. Not a big deal except it's hard to keep track of what emails are current.
In other words, after deleting the old emails in the contacts it still shows up when I start typing a person's name.
    Any help would be great,
    Thx
    Jon

you cannot do this unless you restore your phone as a NEW device.

  • How do I clear old email from the cloud?

I have 3478 emails in "all mail."  Other than ticking the check box next to each email on my iPad and /or iPhone, how do I get rid of all of the old mail messages?

You can delete them en masse from ...

  • How can I import old email files from Simeon into Apple Mail?

I used to use Esys Simeon for PC for mail at work.  I recently found my Simeon email files, which I thought I'd lost.  If possible, I'd love to import them to Mail, to have as part of my general email archive.
The files come as a set of nested folders.  The lowest level of folders each contain a set of separate numbered files each of which contains one email in plain text (complete with all headers).  The folders also contain a number of other '.dat' files with info about the folder contents.
    I'm on Mail 4.5
    Any ideas?

    No. But…
one email in plain text (complete with all headers).
How do you know it's plain text? File name extension ".txt"?
Message Handler?) type file system to mbox
Not likely. MH would be text, .dat suggests binary. "Mh" in "mh_cache.dat" may stand for "message handler", but it's not MH.
Try Emailchemy (test it, don't buy it until you know it works). You might have to change file name extensions from .txt to .eml. Or try to find some documentation of Simeon's file formats and directory structure. I doubt it will be easy to find a converter. Given your description, I'd probably use AppleScript.

  • How do I clear old MobileMe info from iCal?

I had such a bad experience with losing iCal data because of auto synch with the iCal MobileMe that I deleted my iCal Calendar, AddressBook and Mail files from MobileMe. (I still have an account but wonder why I am doing so.) Periodically I get a synch query with iCal informing me there is a synch conflict with MobileMe info. I have checked my MobileMe preferences and they are now blank, so my computer cannot be going out and seeing something from MobileMe. I checked it also, it has no calendar nor addressbook.
Where are the MobileMe synch files stored?
Can someone tell me how to free myself of this problem. Until I experience trouble free operation, I will never trust MobileMe, and possibly not even then.

I did that months ago and then removed all of the info that would provide my computer info to connect to MobileMe. Once the data is going, there is no Synch option. However, I think there is still synch data residing somewhere and I need to remove that.
I could not find MobileMe in ~/Library, nor synch except as iSynch in Application Support. I deleted everything within SyncLocalCopy. Nw I will see.
