How do I clear previously typed searched items

I have a problem
When ever I am typing something on google or youtube, in the search box...a huge list of previously searched items that i typed in shows up when i start writing something with that same letter..
on my pc, i would just select the whole text within that list and then press delete, so that the list goes away....
how would i do it on the mac? its really annoying seeing all the stuff ive typed before every single time...
i would appreciate if someone can help me out with this small situation

Google's search is a bit different. There, once logged on to your G account, go to Google Preferences. Somewhere in that maize of selections you'll find the option to remove the searches.
It's true that Google will keep a record of your searches if you're logged into your Google account. However, Google doesn't autofill those search strings in the Google search field; only Safari does that. So the procedure for clearing those autofill entries is the same as you gave for clearing YouTube search strings.
Instead of autofilling past searches as you type, Google's list of your search history is only accessed by clicking on the "My Account" link and then clicking on the "Web History" link. (And for what it's worth, clearing Google's record of your search history is via the option found at My Account > My Services - Edit > Delete Web History.)

I cant find a option to clear previous address on the app maps, Does anyone know how?

Touch the Bookmarks icon (upper right).
Select Recents from the choices on the bottom, Bookmarks, Recents, Contacts
Select Clear from upper left.

How change the sort order of searched items so last search item shows first. I DO NOT mean the order of search engines, but existing searches by down arrow key

I want to be able to change the sort order of items I have already searched for in the search box. I want to be able to hit the down arrow key and see my previous searches in the order of last search showing first. At the moment I have no idea how it is sorting and it's very annoying to have to re-type a query I typed 5 minutes earlier but because I typed in another 10 since it is lost somewhere in the list. Can this be done, I have googled but did not find the topic anywhere. Just to clarify, I DO NOT MEAN the order of search engines (which is all that comes up in google), I mean the actual text typed in which has been saved in the drop down list.

The "form fill" feature uses a "frecency" algorithm, frequency + recency, similar to the address bar autocomplete list.
I found an extension that seems relevant, but the reviews are old so I'm not sure it's still working: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/searchbar-autocomplete-order/ Searchbar Autocomplete Order].
But... is the autocomplete not working? I would expect that typing a couple characters of the earlier query would filter the list so you can easily select it? Or is the problem that the list doesn't remember enough searches for that?

How to unselect/clear selection of selected item in selectOneListBox?

I have a page with a selectOneListBox, and I can't find a way to unselect the selected item. When a downstream page navigates back, the list box always shows with the previously selected value. I've tried tweaking the selectOneListBox value attribute to null when it is not a post back, a la:

FWIW, the downstream page navigates back with a static navigation rule in faces-config.xml so I'm not sure why/how it remembers the prior selection state.

How do you clear previously viewed photos in Preview?

I have a bunch of photos that are constantly showing up each time I open Preview using Lion. Any way to clear them out and start clean? This didn't happen using Snow Leopard, or any other iteration of OS X.

Okay, so I figured out that if you delete the photo from its current location, it will clear the images in Preview. There's gotta be a better way than that....

The thing I HATE about computers and computer programs is that they don't let dead dogs lie, ya' know!!? I just want to throw things
away but the dang computer just hangs on and on. SO, perfect example, with Firefox if I type one letter into a search window it lists

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:
#click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop-down list
#highlight an entry in the drop-down list with the mouse or cursor Down key<br>do not click the mouse or press the Enter key
#press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to delete the highlighted entry
Make sure that you do not get confused by "Search suggestions".

Select Open Network Preferences from the Airport menu bar extra. Click on the Advanced button. Delete any unwanted entries from the list. You can also uncheck the option to remember networks you have previously jointed, if you want.

Clearing of AUC Line Items

Hi,
Our Transactions are posted in a) Local Currency b) Hard Currency c) Index Based Currency
We are able to clear our local currency items in the AUC account but we are getting foreign exchange differences in B and C. As a result, we are not able to clear the line items because there are still hanging amounts in both B & C.
How can we clear these AUC line items?

How do I clear the Address Search Bar history?

Resetting Safari doesn't do anything to reset the Address Search.
The Reset is not designed to clear the URL prompts. As I mentioned, these prompts are fed from a number of sources. Short of eliminating your bookmarks, history etc. the prompts are here to stay. Clearing your history and cache ought to eliminate those prompts not associated with existing bookmarks, but that's only temporary. Also, there may be other sources feeding the prompts.
Space bar is by far the easiest (although not very convenient) way to avoid seeing the prompts.
