How do i clear recent item list?

It is surprising that i am not able to clear the recent item list. If there is a quick way to do it, please let me know.

Thanks!
There is a C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 x64\utils\CleanPreferencesWin.bat
This clears everything nicely.

  • How do I clear recent items from Preview in Lion?

I hate this new version of Preview, the screensaver won't loop, you can't clear the recent images... It is piece of crap software! Go back to Snow Leopard version please!!!

I agree with you guys this is a really irritating feature, can we please revert to the former versions mode of operation or have the option to select it.
Same goes for other apps. If Windoze can give the option to select "classic" Windoze why doesnt Apple provide the same for its clients?

  • My recent items list appears again after restart. How do I delete it for good?

When I turn on the computer, the recent items list still displays the documents and applications I worked with a few days ago. I delete it, and after restarting the computer, it displays the same list again (not a new list, but the exact same items over and over again).  Any tips?

Select the iPod shuffle in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES).  If this is a current 4th (or 3rd) gen iPod shuffle, you should be able to see the contents of the shuffle by type, intented under the shuffle's name (still in the sidebar).  Select Music or Audiobooks (not sure where those items from the library will be listed).  The items will be listed to the right, for each category.  Find the items, select, and delete.
It's on page 20 of the manual
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_shuffle_4thgen_User_Guide.pdf
NOTE:  If this is an 1st or 2nd gen iPod shuffle, select the iPod shuffle in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES).  Over to the right, go to the Contents tab, where the items are listed.  Select and delete them from this list.
I find it more convenient to make a playlist in iTunes with things I want to put on the shuffle.  I then set up automatic syncing (or use autofill) to have iTunes load the shuffle from that playlist, automatically.

  • Recent Item List

How to refresh Recent Items on Nav bar or when I click on an item?
    Hi guys,
we connect our ECC with the CRM system. Then I open the SAPGUI for ECC and the Web Ui for CRM and display the same businesspartner.
Now I change the businesspartner in ECC, the middleware works fine and there is no error.
In the Web UI I choose another item from the "Recent List" and go back to the changed businesspartner.
Now we see the old status from the businnesspartner without the changes from ECC. When I press the EDIT button in the businsspartner then I see the changes.
Is it possible to refresh the "Recent Item List" or the businesspartner view when I click on this item?
Is there a methode in class CL_BSP_DLC__TABLEPERS_IMPL which I can use?
    Best Regards.
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
This is not necessairly an answer, I just wonder if your recent items list is being cached by your browser.
Try to clear your internet history / cache / etc.  And then restart the web ui.
    This is just an idea.

  • Indesign CS5.5 recent items list blank

After upgrading to Design Premium CS5.5 I noticed the recent items list, that comes up when Indesign starts, is cleared whenever I restart my mac.
It's fine in all the other CS applications like Photoshop.
I'm running Snow Leopard and I think I have all the latest Adobe updates, Indesign is version 7.5.1
It may be unrelated, but when I ran the 5.5 update, it annoyingly left all the old CS5 versions intact, without giving me the option to remove/overwrite them.
So now I have two versions of Creative suite running alongside each other.
I would like to uninstall the old versions, but I'm worried that the CS5 uninstall script will remove assets shared by CS5.5 and mess up my system.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix the recent items list... or if I can safely remove CS5 without causing more problems?

I tried that, but it didn't make any difference unfortunately.

I suspect a permissions problem with the InDesign SavedData file, or containing folder, in your user library is keeping it from being written properly.
In light of your comment, I had a dig around and noticed something a little strange.
    I had a look in...
    Users>Me>Library>Application Support>Adobe>
...and noticed there were separate folders for the different versions of the CS applications, like: 'Adobe Photoshop CS5' and 'Adobe Photoshop CS5.1
But there is only one folder for InDesign CS5, despite two versions being installed.
Is this supposed to be this way? It seems odd that Indesign is the only one that is different.

  • How do I clear recently used profile photos?

How do I clear recently used profile photos?

You only remove bookmarks if you delete bookmarks in a smart folder. If you delete that folder then you delete the smart bookmark and not the bookmarks in the list. A smart bookmark is a query and the result of the query is shown as the content of such a folder. A long as such a gives a result then you see content in the folder, so the only way not to see those bookmarks is to remove the smart bookmark.

  • Snow Leopard breaks iWork "recent item" lists?

I no longer have recent items listed for my iWork suite after installing Snow Leopard--it always shows as an empty list now, no matter how many doc, presentations, etc. I've opened. Is this a known bug?

I installed Snow Leopard today, and noticed that the following applications no longer remember recent documents when you go to 'Open Recent':
    - Keynote
    - Numbers
    - Pages
    - Preview
    - Text Edit
I tried dragging the file 'com.apple.recentitems.plist' to the Trash, emptying the Trash, and rebooting. That fixed the problem for all the applications. So the question now is, why did Snow Leopard cause this problem in the first place? I feel an update comng on!

  • Lost Recent items list in FW

I successfully upgraded FW to 11.1.0.205 some time ago (when I upgraded  CS5 to CS5.5), but I've been experiencing a couple strange behaviors  ever since.  I'm on a pc using Vista.
    (1) FW  now requires admin permission whenever I launch it.  No other program in the suite does that.  It's an annoyance that I can live with, but would rather not have to click CONTINUE every time.  I tried setting the program to run as Administrator, but it made no difference.
    (2) The most annoying issue is that 'Open a Recent item' list is empty every time.  Oh it retains my list if i don't shut off my computer.  But if I do shut down my computer, FW's recent item list is empty at the next launch.  I used to use this feature a lot for picking up where I left off the day before.  Now I have to not only search for the document, but also seek the drive and folder since that information is not retained either.
Is there a solution to either of these problems?  Maybe they are related.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

AFAIK, it's the norm. Recent documents only displays ones previously opened, not their current status or whether they still exist.

  • How do I clear updated apps listed by date in the Updates section of the App Store app?

How do I clear updated apps listed by date in the Updates section of the App Store app?

    Hi rowiny,
depending on what exactly you mean with "clear", it is a bug. See this thread: App Store Updates Do Not Clear
If you update your App's via iTunes, and not "over the air", the badge count on the AppStore-app icon is wrong, and the list shows "available updates" that you can open in the new version. The listing under "Updated #date#" lists only updates that were done OTA in the last month.

  • Open Recent Items list disappeared

    Hello,
Well, the Open Recent Items list - the list underneath Users, Macintosh HD, etc - has disappeared from all applications. This is list vital to my sanity, it's taking twice as long to navigate to files now.
I've searched the Apple Discussions and the Internet without any luck. Does anyone have a solution to make this list viewable again?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanking you in advance.

  • Distorted, mismatched icons | Recent Items list dodgy

Hello! Proud new iMac G5 user here!
    I have two concerns:
    1) After using my iMac for a considerable amount of time (say, around 2 hours) icons start switching around among themselves and some even get distorted (Text files get the iSync icon, red/white bars distort the "computer" icon, etc). Restarting fixes the issue but it unfortunately recurs. Any permanent solutions? I tried deleting finder preferences to no effect - it still recurrs
    2) My "Recent Items" list in the apple menu is rather dodgy. When accessing it with some apps (like Safari) in the foreground, the list is empty. When accessing it from other apps (like iTunes), the list is as it should be. And, in some instances, it isn't even there (there is no menu that says "Recent Items"). I deleted its preferences but the problem persists. Any suggestions?
    Thanks for all your input!

  • Recent items list in Finder?

After a file has been deleted I know that it still appears in the recent items list in Finder... But if I were to click on that file nothing happens...not even a message to say something to the extent of the file is missing or deleted. I am new to Mac Computers and I am running Mac OS X Snow Leopard. So I was wondering if this is the norm?

AFAIK, it's the norm. Recent documents only displays ones previously opened, not their current status or whether they still exist.

  • Clear recent items is broken in 10.8 (major privacy issue!)

Clearing recent items is now completely broken under Mountain Lion.
    Try this experiment:
    1. Open an image in Preview.app.
    2. File > Open Recent > Clear Menu
So is it gone now?  No!!! They are not gone.  You can still see what somebody previous viewed in that app by going to one of 2 places:
    1. Right-click the app's icon in the Dock and recent items are ALWAYS there, never cleared.
    2. Use Mission Control to view Application Windows and you still see recent items at the bottom of your screen.
Previously in Lion, this occured, but there was a workaround that involved clearing recent items, quitting the app, then relaunching the app, then the recent stuff wouldn't be visible anywhere.  This workaround no longer works.
If you need to be guarenteed privacy with certain images like confidential bussiness documents, any embaressing photos or dirty pictures, do NOT upgrade to Mountain Lion because it will show those to anyone who happens to be nearby when you use Expose / Mission Control and you will not be able to work around it anymore.
If by chance this is not a bug and was intended behavior, tell Apple to stop it (or find yourself a new operating sytem that doesn't violate privacy.)

First, in response to Adrian Clarke's suggesetion of clearing the system-wide recents and that didn't work for me, but thanks.
Regardless, I think I found a permenant solution for Preview (but not TextEdit).
    1. Go into ~/Library/Preferences
    2. Search the folder for the phrase "Preview"
    3. The first time I did the search, I found 3 or 4 things related to Apple's Preview application.  I deleted them all.
    4. Go to Terminal and type "killall Dock"
NOTE:  Under Mountain Lion it appears (to me at least) the old "killall Dock" command does not always make the Dock relaunch automatically as it did in previous versions of OS X, so you might have to logout/login as well.
Going back to look at them again hours later, not all the files have rebounded or been recreated.  So I can't tell you all their names exactly.  I can only tell you the names of the files that get remade, which again isn't all the files that I deleted.
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.preview.LSSharedFileList.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Preview.SandboxedPersistentURLs.LSSharedFileList .plist
Again, the paths of the other files are lost since I didn't note them before deleting them, but just search your Preferences folder for "Preview".
Now TextEdit was exhibiting the same undesierable behavior as well, so I tried doing the same for TextEdit:  Search preferences and deleting anything related to it.
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.LSSharedFileList.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.LSSharedFileList.plist.lockfile
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.plist.L2YUl2h
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.plist.lockfile
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.SandboxedPersistentURLs.LSSharedFileLis t.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.SandboxedPersistentURLs.LSSharedFileLis t.plist.lockfile
After deleting them all and using TextEdit for a bit, the only files that rebounded were:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.LSSharedFileList.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TextEdit.SandboxedPersistentURLs.LSSharedFileLis t.plist
But does it work on TextEdit?  Sorta but not really.  It works until you perform a reboot, then the old problem returns, afflicting TextEdit again.  But Preview continues to behave correctly after a reboot.  Why these results are so inconsitent is truly confusing.  I suspect there's a bug (or multiple bugs).  If anybody can offer a solution for TextEdit, I'd be very appreciative.  In the meantime, if this bug affects you, maybe consider switching from TextEdit to another app until this gets fixed.
