When I type www in the search bar of safari, a list of address that I visited before will disappear. How do I clear this recent searches from Safari?

Yes! I already turn off the autofill. But the list still come out when I typing in the search bar.

I agree with you guys this is a really irritating feature, can we please revert to the former versions mode of operation or have the option to select it.

SAFARI 6: how do I clear Google search history?

There used to be an option at the bottom of the scroll down search bar for CLEAR SEARCH.
Now that Safari 6 has adopted the single info bar, that option seems to have disappeared.
So how do I clear search history?
I don't want to clear all history (i.e. sites visited),

but the point of my question was precisely that in 2012,
the way that Google is presented within Safari is different
(e.g., there is now just a single search bar),
so some of the info on the old threads is no longer relevant.
That is why I titled the qustion clearly "SAFARI 6".
However, I have discovered the answer myself.
I think I was being just too impatient.
The same option of CLEAR RECENT SEARCHES does come up
if you click and hold on the magnifying glass icon to the left of what is now the single Google search bar.
This click and hold opens a roll-down menu, and near the bottom is the CLEAR RECENT SEARCHES option.

Check Safari/Preferences/Passwords to see if the Facebook account is there. If so, select it and remove it. If you are still having problems, Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. If that doesn't work, Safari/Reset Safari.

Since the introduction of the unified search field, I can no longer view recent searches (previously accessed by clicking on the magnifying glass on the search field). Thank you for your reply but unfortunately this doesn't address my issue. Typing in the unified bar brings up suggestions, bookmarks and history but this seems to be browsing history only (i.e. sites I have actually visited). I still need to retype my search query to display my search results again. I wasn't aware you can't downgrade, isn't that a bit silly? What if there is a major fault or drawback with the new software, are users left with no option but to bear it? Also, upgrades should be an enhancement on a previous version, one would not expect to lose functionality or a feature by upgrading (especially when there is no option to go back)..it poses a risk in performing any future updates if I could potentially lose something I already have!

Lost "clear recent searches" with 4.0.3

The "clear recent searches" option in the drop-down Google search box menu is gone since I updated to 4.0.3. What gives? I use this all the time.

The utility application Onyx has an option to clear recent browser searches. Under the Cleaning header, at least it is for the Tiger version. I don't have Leopard otherwise I'd check the Leopard-compatible version myself to see if the option is the same. It's worth a try, until the much-needed function is back where it belongs.
(Sigh. I still miss top-tabs, and Onyx can't help me with that. I think they are ingenious, and should at least be an option for people who want them. In case anyone from the Safari team is reading this- pretty please, bring back top-tabs.)

Empty Caches
1. Safari > Preference > Advanced
    Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
    "Develop" menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
    Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
2. Quit Safari if open.
    Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
    Select "Library" and then "Caches".
    Look for the folder 'com.apple.Safari"
    Right click "com.apple.Safari" and select "Move to Trash"
    Relaunch Safari.

In Safari, use the open book symbol to go to bookmarks. At the top of the list is "History", tap history and then tap the clear button on the bottom left of the screen. That clears the search history as well.

How can I use LDAP searching from OSX Lion Server to Mozilla Thunderbird? We have a super awesome contacts server that works great for our Mac users. About 30% of our company are on PCs, and I would like to use the Mozilla Thunderbird mail client for them. I see that in Thunderbird I can set up LDAP searching, and would like to have this feature point to our contacts server. I've tried several different settings, and looked all over the web, but could not find the proper way to configure this. Does anyone know if this can be done, or if not, would have a better suggestion? Thank you for your time!!
