How do i clone bootcamp running windows 7

I am trying to clone a windows 7 bootcamp partition running on Lion. I have not been able to find any solutions so far online. Anyone have any advice?

Below are comments I have collected from this forum regarding Boot Camp backup.
Paragon has a number of utilities for Intel OSX/Windows and the Paragon Hard Drive Suite 2011 seems to have the greatest success. Before doing any thing be sure to have a bootable clone of your Mac (Carbon Copy Cloner or DuperDuper are good apps).
WinClone was handy for XP users but doesn't for instance check for errors during the backup only during restore.
Winclone was discontinued at 2.2, all 2.3 versions are hacks,
Acronis 2011 w/ plus pak, didn't work well previously
Ghost 15 - probably not
CopyCatX is more lengthy and sector copy so takes the longest.
Casper 6 does seem to work;
Paragon Hard Drive Suite 2011 because it works great  and they have CampTune
Windows 7 system backup and restore - Apple's goofy HFS read-only interferes with system and file backup.
Also used Casper, Clonezilla and Paragon but less regularly, Casper failed a few times, I stopped using it, Clonezilla worked but took forever (for me) Paragon (which I have only used twice) was the best but my sample is limited.
Paragon HDM 2011 can do either offline or online backups, the difference is that with an offline backup, the entire partition (or disk) is unallocated. In an online backup, the backup utility is running against a partition that may be making changes to itself. When you run CCC or SD! in OS X, you're running an online backup. However, I would recommend (at least for the first backup) that you boot from the HDM recovery CD to do an offline backup. This will ensure that you have an *exact* copy of the parition/disk.

No, you must install Windows to run Windows software. You do not need to use Boot Camp (yes, it's free because it comes with OS X.)
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • 20" imac won't restart after rebooting under bootcamp running Windows XP. I get a black DOS screen with an error message.

My imac has been running without problems under OS X Snow Leopard and bootcamp running Windows XP for a long time. I had received a Sony MP3 player and wanted to install the software on my computer. At the time I had a CD in my drive slot because I was getting ready to install some brother's software for a printer I wanted to use. I restarted my imac under bootcamp and started installing the Sony software in Windows XP. I was having problems with the install  and decided to restart XP to see if that would help. It's been several days since this originally happened so I'm not of sure of any more specifics at this point other than I've had to use windows machines for a long time and know that basically when in doubt "restart".
When my imac was restarting I heard everything spinning up, the white light came on, but I heard no chime, a blue screen came up for about 15 to 30 sec. and then it went to a black screen with DOS characters giving the following message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll. Please re-install a copy of the above file.
I do have a copy of Windows XP, but my first problem was that I still had a CD in the slot and it would not eject. I tried every keyboard combination I could find including: eject button, F12 and holding down the mouse button at start-up and nothing worked. I also tried every other start-up keyboard combination I could find at Apple Support jut to see if I could get my imac to start up under OS X . I finally went on youtube to find out how to remove the CD. I ended up opening up my imac and taking off the cover of the CD drive to remove the disk. After putting everything back together I put in my Windows CD and tried restarting again. The exact same thing happened and I ended up at the DOS screen. Then I thought maybe my keyboard wasn't working so I replaced it with a new one. Same result. I also thought to plug both of my apple keyboards into my windows 8 laptop (hate it!) to see if they worked there at all. They both did so I'm sure the keyboards are not the problem.
At this point, since I do now have a windows 8 laptop (hate it!) there is no remaining reason for me to keep a bootcamp partition on my hard drive. My question is where do I go from here? I have a current time machine back-up on an external hard drive and I have my install CD for OS X Snow Leopard. How do I get my imac back up and running? Thanks.

Can you OPTION boot? If so, then choose the OS X volume to boot back into OS X. From there you can use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the Windows volume and restore the drive.
    Boot Using OPTION key:
      1. Restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
          "OPTION" key.
      3. Release the key when the boot manager appears.
      4. Select the desired disk icon from which you want to boot.
      5. Click on the arrow button below the icon.
Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • How do I install Bootcamp on Windows 7.

I have just installed Windows 7 on my Mac Mini and now I want to switch back to the Mac OS. When I hold down Alt while booting up to change OS nothing happens.
The other option is to install Bootcamp to work with windows. It's already on my mac as I used it to install Windows 7. But there is no option to switch OS with Bootcamp as I can't find it on Windows 7. I've seen tutorials on how to install it with a disk but the Mac mini has no optical drive.
How do I install Bootcamp on Windows??

At first I was under the impression i had accidentily deleted the MAC OS but thankfully I haven't. I did a system restore on Windows and when it restarted I held Alt and I could select my OS.
But I still don't have the shortcut to bootcamp showing in windows. How do you make a bootable USB for Bootcamp?

  • How do I install bootcamp drivers windows 8 (mainly trackpad)

I installed windows 8 conumer preview using bootcamp.  I download the drivers to my flash drive, but when i try to install them it says I need a computer running windows 7.  I tried running in compatibility mode the way many people say to for installing on windows 8 but that did not work.  I also tried to install all the drivers i needed indevidually and that worked, but there is one problem.  I can only left click on the trackpad and I connot two finger scroll.
If anybody could help me either get the drivers to fully install or simply get right click and scrolling to work it would be awsome!
If it makes a difference i am running snow lepered on my mac partition om my macbook pro 15 inch 8,2 from mid 2011 (the first quad core one).

When you are on Lion, yes and if you have any 2011 model, definitely. mid-2011 was about where Lion was about to come out. And the old drivers just do not do a good job on those systems.
I'd even buy Lion and just put it on an external drive. If you want then use Setup Assistant to make it currrent with your settings, and clone it back to where SL was (might want to clone SL if you need it though and don't need or can't use Lion for some reason).
Someone else was unable to see Troubleshoot via control-click and I took a screen shot to show that "64.mi" does normally have options for how to run from Properties while theirs lacked that. Which seems to me like an issue with Windows installed on their system and not elsewhere.
You did a clean install of 8-CP too?

  • Can bootcamp run Windows 8 Pro in OSX 10.8.2?

Can Mac OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.2) run "Windows 8 Pro" in Bootcamp? Since Windows 8 Pro has the ability to run program from passed versions of Windows. This way Windows 8 Pro can run Bootcamp, even though it was made for Windows XP/Vista/7 specificly.
I need to know whether it can damage my MAC, or I am able to install Windows 8 Pro.
    Thanks guys.

Windows 8 is not supported by Bootcamp. There are no Bootcamp Windows 8 drivers http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1899

  • Are their still overheating issues with bootcamp running windows 7?

I am wanting to do a little gaming on my mac, but saw plenty of forums pre 2010 about Macs overheating when running windows 7 and even XP. I have a Mid 2012 macbook pro with Intel HD 4000 and a 2.5 Ghz I5 processor, I was wondering if there has been any updates to macs or bootcamp that quells the overheating, and would my mac still be susceptible to this problem?

No changes because the problem is there is no fan control software for Windows that works with the Mac hardware.

  • Can OS 10.7.2 bootcamp run windows XP

I was wondering if my new MacBook Pro (OS 10.7.2) can run Window XP via Bootcamp? Or does it need to be Windows 7?

Actually even MS now only supports Vista SP2 but Apple only developed drivers for Windows 7 (and 7 SP1 has been an issue installing for some odd reason)
New Macs = new motherboard etc and req'd all new drivers, hence no support except for most current OS.

  • How do I install Bootcamp on Windows 7 on my iMac?

I've just installed Windows 7 ultimate 64bit on my 24" iMac. After i installed it i put my leopard disk in to install bootcamp and it comes up with there are compatibility issues so i continued anyway, it then starts installing until it comes to saying 'keyagent failed to start' followed by 'Mac HAL failed to start'. It also says to check i have sufficient privelidges so i ran the installer as administrator but no luck still.
I have read that because i have an early version of the leopard disk there are no 64bit bootcamp drivers and i need to install them, but i cant find them anywhere, i would assume they would come with Bootcamp 3.0 but i cant find that anywhere to download, ive downloaded bootcamp 3.1 but it needs 3.0 to install. Any ideas? Its driving me crazy!!!

Install 7. Don't bother with applying drivers and such, just reboot again from DVD and install again, it will see the existing system and this time activation will be possible.
Vista is mess, takes longer etc. Hope you have SP1 version of 7. And for Vista, only SP2+ are even supported now, by MS.

  • Bootcamp running Windows XP Professional

have mac pro shared with Windows XP Pro. Since hard drive was split, I had no problem accessing Windows side, until today....when booted up, I was asked for the first time for a user and password. Of course, I don't recall ever setting that up. Question: any way to bypass user and password info and access the one application I have in Windows? Thanks.

Have a look here http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/556270-password-override-windows-xp-pro.html for some ideas.
    Hope it helps

After the most recent Firfox update, the Add-on page locks up when I click on options for any add-on. Also my AddThis button is gone.

    # Yes, if you go to accounts.firefox.org, sign out, you will now be signed out.
    # Sign back in, and you will be asked to save the password you entered.
    # This will save the password and autocomplete if you have this option turned on.
I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.[[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]
