How do I close all apps at once

The shutdown procedures in Lion are broken (IMHO). Shutdown should mean shutdown, not sleep/standby. This is a powerful computer, not some cheap portable toy. Multiple apps is not a bolt on but a norm.
In another thread there seems to be no apparent way around Lion not closing apps on shutdown    After another 5+minute boot time (white screen of death?) I am getting fustrated. Apps I do not want to load insist on loading without asking because shutdown does not close the apps correctly.
Does anybody know of a scripting way that will automatically close all apps gracefully upon shutdown?
Thanks.

No. You have to swipe each app up off the screen to close them.

There is no way to close all apps at once. When you leave an app , most apps stop working immediately. A few apps will continue to complete the task they were working on. Mail is an example of that. There is a short time limit though after which the app stops running and the state you left it in is stored. Quitting apps does not increase battery life.

  • Close all apps at once?

    Hi,
Any way to close all apps running with one fell swoop? Keyboard command for example? Thanks

I think the only way would be to create an Applescript that closes all open processes and use QuicKeys or QuickSilver to create a hot key. Here is the script. I don't know if you need to except out the Finder, but I did and gives you the ability to do the same for others that you might want to keep open. If you don't want to use the hot key options, you could always save the script as an app and put it in the dock for one-click quitting. Copy the following to a Script Editor window and save as an application.
    tell application "System Events"
set quitList to name of processes whose background only is false
    end tell
    repeat with anApp in quitList
if anApp is not in {"Finder"} then
    tell application anApp
    quit
    end tell
    end if
    end repeat

How do I close down all apps before shutting down iPad?

Click the Home button once to display your Home Screens. Double click the Home button. That should display your open apps at the bottom of the screen. Press one of those icons until they wiggle and a red dot with an "x" appears appears on each icon. Press the red dot to close down each app. Press the Home button when all apps are closed. You may need to press the Home button again to get back to the normal Home Screen display.

  • Close all apps button missing Xperia Z3

After I updated to Lollipop, the "close all" button in recent apps has disappeared.Strange to take away features in a "update", isn't it?

I found some issues in Xperia Z3 5.0.2 update and want to share with Sony Xperia Z3 software DevelopersPlease send it to Xperia Z3 software developers.
1- Device Freeze sometime when we open a game.
First issue that I am facing is that some time when we start a game device freeze and nothing happened i have to force restart the device to fix it
I face it on different games and believe me games are fully compatible with Lollipop, working fine on my Brother Note 4 lollipop.
Sony may need to fix the GPU drivers libs files in system. I am talking about this issue after examining every thing and it is surly related with software. 2- No Close all button in recent panel.
In Kitkat we have a close all button in recent app panel to close all apps at once, but no button in Lollipop. 3- No Camera Raw Capture in Stock & support for third party apps.
Lollipop it self have a feature to capture pictures in Raw format, but it seems Sony remove this feature from their update and also block it for third party camera apps and they are not able to get the permission from mobile to capture in Raw.
Please Sony If you don't want to give this feature in your stock camera app its fine for me, but at-least put this feature back in lollipop so that we can take picture in Raw with third party camera apps 4- No Stereo Ringtone Sound.
When some one call us then ringtone start ringing, and ring sound only come from bottom speaker more louder then very very low from top speaker.
You need to modify the sound files in system/etc/tfa98xx folder to fix this issue. 5- Device Getting slow charging
In Kitkat my z3 charged faster then the lollipop.
I can conform that i am using Sony Z3 Original charger for charge my device, and their is no issue in charger.
I am talking about this issue after examining every thing that it is surly related with software. 6- Device heating up more in 5.0.2 as compare to 4.4.4 while heavy usage
This will fix also when Sony Fix GPU drivers libs files in system as describe up, in note # (1) 7- Battery Drain is faster then the kitkat
I do not want to explain it more, because as I describe up their is an issue regarding Device heating up because of system files and obviously Battery drain is also faster then normal. 8- About Volume and Notifications
8.1- Some time my media sound automatically decrease from settings/sound & notification / Media Volume.
8.2- When silent mode off and interruptions are allowed for Notification even then some time my phone remain silent at the time of arrival of notifications.  Please send it to Xperia Z3 software developers

  • Close all apps ios7

iOS 6 you double clicked home, held any icon and that would allow you to close all running apps at once.
Did Apple really forget this out of iOS7 ?
Oh and no, I'm not talking about the 3 finger swipe up to close 3 apps, I'm l  king for the close ALL apps at once feature.
    Tks

As I recall, tap and hold on an icon in the try (iOS 6 and below) made them wiggle and you could tap the X to close one at a time - no?

How do I close all the apps that are still open?

    You don't need to.
The "task bar" that Demo mentions above is not, in fact, a task bar at all - it is the Recently Used Apps list. Not all of the apps in this list are open, running or in memory.
iOS automatically handles closing apps that are not in use, so you don't have to manually manage them.

  • Is it possible to close all apps in one one click?

Is there a simpler way of closing all apps on your iphone than doube-clicking the home button and then closing each one individually? I don't see a "close all apps" option anywhere.  Sometimes I find myself with 20 apps open all at once and it's tedious to close them all one at a time.

Another concern is power consumption; I have been told by friends with "modified" iPhones that they still use more power if not closed out. They claim that their battery lasts longer when their alotted memory scope is smaller. I just need some fuel for dispute since I feel that the memory has the same power consumption whether it is 'holding' useable data or not.
    Thanks

How do I close my Apps I have over 20 open and cant close em down

Not all the apps are open. When you double tap the home button that just shows you apps that you have recently used. They are not all open and running.
If you want to clear this list, swipe up on the app screenshot.

How do i close open apps to save my battery using ios7

Double click the home button to bring up the multitask bar, hold one app icon until they all start to shake, hit the little minus icon to close the app. Click on the home button to get back to the home screen again.
In most of the cases deleting the mail account and setting it up again can cure the battery drain. There have been cases in which the mail app got stuck trying to connect to the server over and over again, causing the drain.

Thank you for your assistance.  I watched the tutorial and it also helped me.  I am sure there will be a lot of questions in the future as many of us update.  So far all my apps seem to be working fine, so I am fine with it.  This too could change.  Thanks for your help.

Turn it off or Reset it.
Those apps you see in the recently used list you get when you double-click the home button are not running, they have just been recently used. There are very few apps that actually run in the background.
