I am trying to update Adobe flash. It asks me to close safari and desktop client before it will install. But I cannot find how to close desktop client anywhere. Please help!

In Ubuntu 12.xx use Dash to find "Desktop Sharing" and set the preferences, including requiring a password.
Then in Ubu use System Settings > Network to determine your Ubu machine's IP address, such as 192.168.1.13.
On the Mountain Lion Mac do Finder > Go > Connect to Server and enter: vnc://192.168.1.13 or whatever your IP is. Enter the password that you used in the Ubu Desktop Sharing setup, when asked.
On the Ubu machine answer the question that pops up asking for permission to connect. Your Ubu screen will now show up on the Mac, and you can remote control it. Here I am running "Octave" (a math program) on the Ubu machine, remotely.
Works great! BTW, you can do this from an iPad too, using a VNC client such as Mocha VNC Lite. You can even run both remotes simultaneously.

How do you close dashboard client? Adobe flash player will not update until I do. I didn't know you could close it as I've never had to do so. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hmm, you shouldn't normally be running into that. Do you have a current installer? You can get the latest at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer.
If so, I'm guessing that one of your dashboard widgets keeps Flash in-use, but I'm not sure what it would be.
Choose the apple icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen, then Force Quit. Hopefully Dashboard/Client will be an option.
If not, it might be easier to just reboot into Safe Mode to do the installation (safe mode is slow, so you'll want to reboot when you're done):

How do I "Close Dashboard Client"?

I am trying to install Adobe Flash Player 10 on my MacBook Pro. However, the installation does not take place because I continue receiving an error that says I must "Close Dashboard Client". What does that mean, and how do I accomplish that? I searched here in the forums and found nothing regarding this topic.
I should also note that I am not only asking this question for myself, but for two other people who are running into the same error message when trying to do the installation. The other computers involved are a MacBook Pro identical to mine, and a brand new iMac. Thanks for any assistance!

I had the same problem. Went to System Preferences/Accounts, and under My Account/Login Items I deleted Safari and Dashboard apps with "-" button to stop them opening automatically on start-up. Then restarted Mac with Safari and Dashboard closed, and then activated Adobe app from "Downloads" folder without going to Safari again. Worked for me.

The implementation of our environment was a six months ago and during the implementation, the client production was opened a few times. The problem is we are in a process of audit and I suggested as a security measure the automatic closing of the client.

I am trying to update flash and am being asked to close desktop client but have no idea how to do so. Therefore I cannot update and play any flash. Using OS X Yosemite.

Try ( alt + cmd + esc ). Gives you a menu of running applications, and a chance to "Force Quit".

ok, the problem is how to send events to the jsf, how to maintain the session, and other kind of stuffs, this works with the browsers but not with my connection. The problem is not the conecction. The problem is keep the advantages of jsf with my connection. Im using a button in a jsp page connecting to jsf implementation mojarra and works for the events. but with my desktop connection and the same parameters crash with a exception java.util.zip.ZipException: incomplete dynamic bit lengths tree.
this happens when I try to send the next parameter to jsf, javax.faces.ViewState=ANY VALUE.

Hi I have just installed Windows Server 2012 and trying to give access to the users. The users are on windows XP Pro SP3 remote desktop client (Shell and control version 6.1.7600 with Remote Desktop Protocol 7.0 support).
I have enabled the windows server 2012 remote desktop users through "control panel -> systems and security -> Remote access" for the users. When I try to connect to the windows server as administrator, it is getting connected.
But when I try to connect as other users I get the following message.
"To sign in remotely, you need the right to sign in through Remote Desktop Services. By default members of the Administrators group have this right. If the group you're in does not have the right, or if the right has been removed from the Administrators
group, you need to be granted the right manually."
Is there any other setting to be done to eanble the Remote Desktop for the users.

Have you tried adding those users to the "Remote Desktop Users" group? It's in Active Directory Users and Computers and it's a Built-In group. Might want to give that a try ...
