How do I combine my wife's and my itunes accounts?

My wife has an ipod and her own itunes account on her own computer. I have my own iphone, ipod and itunes account on my own computer. Our computers are networked together with a couple of others in the house. We both download music and find that we are purchasing alot of the same music. We also have a music system in the house that will play songs from one itunes account.
How do we merge our music libraries or accounts into one so we don't keep buying duplicate songs and so our music system can pull songs from both libraries?

Easy! just take your ipod's music and add it to your wife's itunes library using any of the apps mentionned here. It will add all your songs, ratings, podcasts, videos, etc., without erasing what you already have on itunes. Don't forget to authorize your wife's pc to play the music you have purchased from the itunes store.

  • How to set up icloud for family and one itunes account

I just got a new disk drive in my MACbook (now upgraded to Mountain Lion) so starting from scratch with itunes.   With 4 IOS devices in the family and only one itunes account, I would like to figure out how to backup every device to itunes.    I was able to save old itunes data on a jump drive, but did not have a Time Machine backup so I am literally starting from scratch and want to do it right.
I need to get data from IOS devices to itunes(via ICLOUD?)  before I hook up device to "new" disk drive on MAC.
I am scared I will loose the data on the devices when I hook them up to the new Mac.  Any help would be appreciated...
Can we each have separate Icloud IDs and still have one Apple ID we use for Itunes account?

"Can we each have separate Icloud IDs and still have one Apple ID we use for Itunes account?"
Yes, that's the suggested way of doing it.
As for starting from scratch - you need to decide which Apple ID to use for the mac.  If each member of the family uses the mac, then set up a seperate account for each and use the Apple ID (the one used for iCloud) to sign into icloud.  Use the common ID for itunes purchases.  I'd suggest first syncing devices to icloud to get whatever data is important (contacts, events, ...) saved.  When on the mac you connect to an iCloud account, the data (just synced from a device) will come down to the mac (for that account).
Tell us what "data" you want to get to the new Mac?

If not the only answer is the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager -http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - and maybe duplicate annihaliator -http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/18748/duplicate-annihilator
You must have IPLM as stated - you may also need DA depending on how thing go with the merge

iMatch works by matching or uploading the music in your iTunes account, it doesn't matter where the music came from as long as it now in your account, but if you purchased it with a different account you will need to be logged in
    No.
As long as you computer is authorized for that iTunes account, the songs will work with iTunes Match. The user does not need to be logged in on that computer.
Husband's computer and husband's iTunes account signed in.
Songs from wife's iTunes account on computer and computer authorized for wife's account. Songs from both will work with iTunes Match.

  • AppleTV Homesharing and 2 iTunes accounts. How?

Just hooked up AppleTV. Homesharing works fine for my account. My wife has a separate iTunes account for her phone and pad. How can she stream her photos and videos to the TV? She's fine with accessing my music from my laptop. But can't get her local content to the TV. I can just fine but she has a different login. Swapping account names is a real headache on these devices once they are already set.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You should be aware that your Apple ID for your iTunes Account and the homesharing ID are different things. Each iTunes library should have it's own Apple ID, but all homesharing ID's should be the same.
    For example:
If your iTunes store account uses an Apple ID of steve @ me.com and your wife's is wife @ me.com, you should continue to use those ID's. However in both cases when setting up homesharing the homesharing ID needs to be identical. It can be the same as either of your Apple ID's or something completely different.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.

You'll need to create an Apple ID for each device. Use the new Apple ID for FaceTime, iMessage and iCloud on the device. Use the original Apple ID for Settings>iTunes & App Store.

" how can I sync my iphone to my mac book without losing all the music and pictures on it?"
You cannot.  Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.
it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.

You can't. All you can do is stop using it. Anything you have purchased using the old Apple ID is permanently connected to it and cannot be updated or re-downloaded when using the new Apple ID.

The only way to do what you want is to log into your wife's iTunes Store account on your iPad. Doing this will lock you out of your account for 90 days.
