How do I completely stop Windows 8 apps?

Hi ,
I'm having multiple apps running in the background (Windows 8 like) and then when I try to close them using the [X] in the Top Right corner, they keep showing as running in the Task Manager.
So, how do I really completely close an app so that it will not show up in the Task Manager? I can do Kill task from Task Manager, but I don't thing that's how Microsoft envisioned this to work.
Thanks,
Alex

Hello there,
You can close a running app by pressing "Alt + F4" keys together. Or you can move your mouse cursor to top-middle area of screen and the cursor will change into a hand shape. Now click and hold the app, then drag and drop it to the bottom and
it'll immediately close the app.
Hope this helps!

Once an app is deleted from an iOs device, you will no longer be prompted for updates. Update alerts only occur for apps curently installed.
Purchases can be hidden (but not completely deleted) from the purchased list, but only using itunes on a computer.

For programs that do not require an Administrator's password to install on your Mac, drag its program icon to the Trash. For those that require a password, research its developer's website or other support options for specific uninstallation instructions.
Never use all-purpose "cleaners" or "zappers" or similarly named clever utilities to uninstall anything.

How can I completely remove my App Store purchases ? I delete certain apps from the iPod but they still are listed under 'purchased apps'.
I need to completely remove then from history as well

You can't permanently delete any items from you purchase history, all you can do is hide them so that they don't show in the Purchased tab for re-downloading : hiding and unhiding.

    As per email.
    Hi,
In the Finder (have any window open), Use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
This will show the Library in the Menu, select this.
    Navigate to the Preferences folder.
Find the com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist file and drag it to the Trash.
This is the one Messages reads directly to create the Receive At list and, if shown, the Start Conversations From drop down.
If Messages was starting properly and you restarted it at the point you would have to re-enter the Apple ID.
    On the iPhone.
Go to Settings > Messages  and check the app is ON first.
Then check the Send and Receive Section.
This will always list the iPhone Number as ticked and Greyed out (You can’t edit it).
Having said that I have twice found the Number to be Unchecked (whilst still grey out).
If this is the case go to the Apple ID section and Remove the Apple ID.
This will also remove it from the Send and Receive section (you can’t do it the other way round.)
Once that is done, place the iPhone in Airplane mode to break with the Servers.
After a few minutes take it out of Airplane Mode and return to Setting > Messages
You should see the iPhone Number being Verified. Wait until this is done.
(I would normally suggest sending an iMessage to the Apple ID at this point as it would be the only Active ID on the Mac. And sending a reply)
You can now add the Apple ID back to the iPhone if you wish to use that as well, if you intend to use it.
If not then you way want this site https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage
Please stick to one method of asking me  (The thread will do for now.)
I am here 3 hours every evening.
I read all the new post regarding email alerts from the boards.
I then filter the Yosemite, Mavericks and iChat Areas using the Contents page and where require Messages or iMessages and deal with unread one.
Posting here at 2.41PM (according to the Time view I have) and then emailing me 11 minutes later seems like you are giving me the hurry up.
In the email and this Post you are not clear if you want Messages to work again.
Removing the com.apple.ichat.plist may help with that.  (The Status Message one will not)
You may find checking the Font Book and the AppleGothic Font  is the answer.

  • How do I completely Stop SAP IDM???

    Hi everyone,
I started a large mass provisioning job to assign business roles to users to IDM. However, I discovered some major errors in my input. I need to stop the provisioning. Technically the "job" is already finished, so I cannot push stop there. The provisioning that the job started however, is still running. I have tried stopping the dispatcher, but as soon as I restart it, the provisioning continues as well. I need to know how to completely stop it, and have it NOT restart.
    Thanks

    1) If you know the repositories that you have provisioned, then you can scramble the connection string, i.e. remove the password from the repositories, so that all the tasks will run into error due to connectivity issue. This will leave you with failed assignments for the users. There are other posts in SCN suggesting how to work with this failed assignments.
It' probably better to screw up the repository connection parameters like Jaisuryan suggests and let the remaining tasks fail. With the IdM having either "Failed" or "OK" as status you know what went through and you can remove the assignments easier.
If you let it execute without the provisioning tasks set, all provisioning is marked as successful and you have no way of knowing which privileges were actually provisioned to target and which weren't. When you have "OK" status and user was created without real tasks, the deprovisioning will fail as the user is not found from target. Then you have to do deprovisioning first and have another job that removes the failed deprovisionings with the option that bypasses tasks.

  • TS1702 how do i completely remove an app from iTunes

Every time I start iTunes all apps are downloading . When I remove them and delete them,  next time I start iTunes they start downloading again. How can I stop these apps downloading again and again?  Garry Rogers

    Hello korkyk,
Thank you for providing all the details of the issue you are experiencing.  I found some steps you can take.
To delete the app from iTunes, follow these steps without your iPhone connected to the computer:
    Apps>Mac or PC
Before you delete, find out if you'll be able to download the app you deleted again (it depends on where you live).
    Launch iTunes.
From the Library pop-up menu, choose Apps.
Click the app you want to delete.
Press the Delete on your keyboard.
You can find the full article here:
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, or Mac App Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5772
You won't be able to delete the purchase from the Apple ID, but you can hide the purchase:
    To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."

  • How can i completely delete an app from my "app purchased" account

my son purchased an app which we want to completely delete from "apps purchased" file,
can delete it fr the home screen but, its still "on" the apps purchased (but not on this device option)
    any ideas please

You can't.  The Purchased List is not user modifiable since its what Apple uses to know what Apps you can re-download without having to pay for them again.
You can however Hide the App so it does not appear on the List.

  • How do I delete/stop an app update that has frozen?

An app I was updating has frozen. How do I delete or stop this update?

Try this first and see if the download resumes or if you can tap on the icon to resume the download.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that does not work and the app shows the "waiting" icon, give these a try.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • How do i completely remove uninstalled apps because they are still taking up my data?

I have uninstalled lots of apps but they are not completely removed from my phone's database and they are still taking up my memory, i was just wondering how do you completley uninstall and remove them?

Did you already try to sync again with your PC? If your data is part of the "Other" section on your phone, you'll have to restore your device to get that space back.

  • How does one completely remove unwanted Apps? It seems that prior to IOS 5.0 I could do that and now cann't.

I am totally new to APPLE products and have for years avoided getting anything APPLE due to interface issues with other operations systems.  I have unwanted apps and want to completely remove them from my IPhone 3GS with IOS 5.0... I seems that in the past (prior to the IOS 5.0 upgrade) I was able to do this, and now I can't.
Another issue; attempted to download the manual for the IOS 5.0 upgrade, system states that it has downloaded however it's nowhere to be found, hmmmm?

First of all where do you want to delete your apps from, your iPhone or iTunes? If you delete your games from iTunes and keep them on your phone, when you connect your iDevice it'll sync, if you delete it from your iPhone and leave it on your iTunes, it'll still sync. So if you want to delete all apps, 1 Delete all apps on your iPhone and 2 delete all apps on iTunes as well. Also when you download apps on your iPhone or computer, iCloud automatically puts them on your devices. About the second issue, to be honest I don't know

  • How to completely uninstall an app ?

Been using Arch for over 2 years by now. There's just a small thing bugging me. I know I can remove an app nearly completely with the
    pacman -Rns <name>
But I was wondering how could I completely uninstall the app ... like remove all the config files, the stuff in /usr and the entries in various menus and so on. I do understand it might not be possible, but I was just wondering whether there was something like ... Revvo Uninstaller for Arch linux ?

I installed wine once and had a hell of a time removing all the entries it made in pcmanfm.
I was hoping for something other than deleting them by hand.
Those files are not the responsibility of pacman. Deleting them would be analogous to deleting the Text files you've created when you decide to uninstall nano....
