How do i completely uninstall microsoft office 2011 from my new macbook pro ?

I've just recently purchased 2011 for my new 15" Macbook pro but was wandering how to uninstall it as I hardly use it and if I do use word processing/spreadsheet/presentation software I'd much rather use iWork and have office 11 on the disk

Please note that if Office is being removed to fix a problem prior to re-installing a new copy AppCleaner will not do what is needed, it is important to follow Microsoft's directions exactly, AppCleaner does not.
Carolyn Samit's link is the correct method.

Vicky:  The initial question is why do you want to uninstall Microsoft Office 2004?
If your answer is that you are upgrading to Office 2011, my recollection is that the installation process of Office 2011 will do all of the proper "uninstalling" that is necessary as it installs all of the necessary new files.
If your answer is that you do not intend to ever use Office again, including any of the data files that were created from it: then at this point, I would suggest that you just leave it alone.  Manually uninstalling raises more risks than it cures.
Even if you do upgrade to Office 2011, if you have continuous need to have access to your Office 2004 data files, you may find that Office 2011 does not properly translate some of your old files correctly.  I have this problem with an Excel 2004 chart that I access on a weekly basis and it gets trashed by Office 2011.
I have solved this problem by installing Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7 in Lion (and reinstalling Office 2004 inside the Snow Leopard environment):

In this way I can access my Excel 2004 chart, modify it as needed and save the changes.

  • How can I transfer older Microsoft Office docs to my new macbook pro?

Hi... I had an older macbook pro OS X (10.5.8). The mother board went on it but I was able to transfer all of my files to a passport hard drive. My new, 2013, macbook pro does not accept Microsoft Office apps. Any thoughts... ?
    Thanks, Russell

Your new MacBook Pro supports Microsoft Office. The problem is that it only supports Office 2008 and 2011, because Office 2004 and older are PowerPC apps.
Now, if you really need to work with Office documents and you need the highest number of features possible, go for Office 2011 > http://www.microsoft.com/mac
However, if you have basic needs, I recommend you to install LibreOffice. It's free and open-source, and it works with Office files without any problem

  • How do I restore a Time Machine backup from a newer MacBook Pro to an older MacBook Pro?

My MacBook Pro is in the shop and am using my older MacBook Pro in the meantime. I want to restore my older computer with the lastest backup from my newer computer, but I'm not able to see/access the backups from my newer computer - I can only see the backups from my old computer. Any suggestions?

That is probably due to the older computer being too old.
You can do a manual restore to a USB drive plugged into the computer. Then select the files you want.
    See pondini Q14-17 on restore.
    http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html
    Particularly 16 and 17.
You tend to migrate from older to newer computer and OS.. and it is not going to work the other way around.

  • Microsoft office 2007 downloaded to new MacBook air

Microsoft office 2007 downloaded to new MacBook air, when I click on the downloaded file it just says format not supported. I have this program on my MacBook Pro and it works fine. Thoughts?

Only, the 2008 and 2011 versions of Office for Mac will run on your MacBook Air.
There is no MS Office 2007 for Mac, only Windows.
    Try this link
You will need a valid product key, once the trial expires.

  • How do I load on Office:Mac onto my new MacBook Pro when it doesn't have a disk drive?

How do I load on Office: Mac onto my new MacBook Pro when it doesn't have a disk drive - I don't want to have to purchase another copy.

Glad you were able to solve your problem. For the benefit of others who may find this discussion later, allow me to suggest another possibility.
If you have access to another Mac running Lion or Mountain Lion with an optical drive, you should be able to use the Remote Disc feature to access the optical drive on that other Mac.

It's not completely obvious. What you have to do in Spaces is to position your cursor to the upper right of the screen, after which faint + (plus) sign appears in that area. Click that, upon which another Desktop will appear.
The + may be difficult or impossible to see with some desktop backgrounds (black, for instance):

Get info then check permissions then add your curent user name (it was probably different on old Mac) and give your username full read/write permissions.

    Hi Martin,
MobileMe Mail Help: Setting up Mac OS X Mail to receive your MobileMe email
The steps you follow to set up Mac OS X Mail to receive your MobileMe email depend on which version of Mac OS you’re using.
Important: For the instruction below, use the following: MobileMe Mail’s incoming mail server is “mail.me.com” and the outgoing mail server it “smtp.me.com.”
To set up Mac OS X Mail to receive MobileMe mail:
If you’re using Mac OS X version 10.4.11 or later
Open System Preferences (under the Apple icon at the upper-left of your computer screen).
Click MobileMe (if you have Mac OS X version 10.5.3 or later), or .Mac (if using version 10.4.11 to 10.5.2), and enter your MobileMe member name and password.
Open Mac OS X Mail, choose Mail > Preferences, and then click Accounts.
Click the Add button at the lower-left of the Accounts pane. Choose MobileMe from the Account Type pop-up menu, and then enter your account information.
The member name and password you use for SMTP authentication must match the member name and password in the User Name and Password fields.
To switch to POP, delete the existing IMAP account before you create the new POP account. Choose POP Account from the Account Type pop-up menu instead of MobileMe Account.

  • How do I remove old applications from my new Macbook Pro that came over when the data on my iMac was migrated to the new computer.

How do I remove old applications from my new Macbook Pro that were part of the data that was migrated over from my older iMac?
    Thanks

If the applications were originally drag and drop installations you can simply drag them to the trash and empty. If they were installed by an installer there should be an uninstaller included. If you're not sure you should check with the software developer for instructions. In this case Google can be your friend.

    Hi Francis,
Could you please let me know how have you been trying to install Acrobat?
Please ensure that you are signed in as admin and antivirus software is disabled at the time when you install.

how do I install dell v305 print drivers on my new macbook pro?

Dell's drivers are only for Windows. If you can find out who makes the printer and what model it is, then you may be able to find OS X drivers for it. Or you can see how well it works using the Generic driver.

How do i enlarge the overall font size on my new macbook pro

Only by dropping the resolution in the System Preferences which has limited results.
With Safari there isn't a whole lot of choices, just a increase in the text on web pages which doesn't hold and tends to distort pages.
A better option for surfing is Firefox and the Add-ons: NoSquint and Theme Font & Size Changer.
NoSquint puts two zoom in/out buttons on the toolbar, you can set a global whole web page increase (not just type) and best of all it remembers that zoom setting for that site forever (unless you clear it out)
Now the other Add-on: Theme Font & Size Changer, allows you to increase the font size of Firefox itself, so the text buttons, google search bar and URL bar is all at a increased font size, making it easier to read.
On my 17" I got Firefox font size set at a 24 pt and web pages globally set of a defualt zoom of 170%, which appears to me to be twice the size of the type in OS X.
I also have a deep blue Firefox "persona" that colors the toolbar area, with white type the contrast makes it easier to read for me as well.

  • Can I use microsoft office 2011  on my new iMac 2015

I just purchased a new iMac desktop with Yosemite.  I am wanting to transfer my info from my 2009 Macbook Pro.  Will the Microsoft office 2011 work on the new computer or should I purchase the latest Office?

As MS Office will be seeing a new hardware configuration, you will likely need your 25-character Product Key.
