How Do I compress video?

I produce sports instructional videos. Trying to learn stuff to podcast. I had my video editor take parts of my videos and put together four 15-20 minutes videos for four separate podcasts. I was able to get the four complete videos in i-Movie. How do I compress the videos?
Thanks in Advance

I

what I do for my podcast is to edit the Podcst in FCP down to 22mins in length,
export it out as a Quicktime .mov file, and then use Visual Hub to create my
iTunes compatible .mp4 file, which is what you need the files to be compressed to.

  • How do i compress videos?

    hello,
i have imovie 08 on my imac and the video's im creating are 300mbs (give or take)
how do i compress them so that they are smaller and it is faster to upload them to sites like Vimeo?

    choose 'Export with Quicktime'
    choose h264 as codec
if resulting file is still too big, reduce framerate to 15fps..

  • Creating a DVD menu, how do I compress videos?

I'm going to be creating a DVD menu on DVD studio pro for an assignment, but I don't know how to use Compressor. I was wondering if anyone can help me on how to compress videos (main menu, chapter selection menu, transition, etc) on Compressor before importing them to DVD studio pro? What format do I compress videos into (mpeg 2, mpeg 4. etc)?
    Thanks.

Essentiallly: Create your menu in DVDSP. Bring your movie into Compressor as the source file. Select one of the DVD presets (90 minutes best quality is good). Submit for encodimg and then bring the output files into DVDSP.
Clearly, you need to know the fundamentals to do much of this…and learning those from these forums is not very practical   The Apple Pro user manuals are very well done. Get acquaninted with them amd you'll be glad you did.
    Good lluck.

  • How do I compress a 2 min FCP video into 100MB for web upload?

How do I compress a 2 min FCP video into 100MB for web upload?
I have FCP v.7 as a part of FCStudio
OK, this may seem like a stupid question for most of you but I haven't used FCP for years.  I am trying to make and upload a 2 min video to the web and don't know how to turn it into a size of 100MB or less.
Yes, I realize that I have Compressor but it does not work on my computer for some reason.  I think my laptop is too old for it or something.
It needs to be in one of these formats and I would like to use the highest quality.  Suggestions needed for this also since this will be my first attempt at an uploaded video.
.MOV, .WMV, .AVI, .MPG, .3GP, 3G2, .QTL, OR .MP4
    Any help would be wonderful!

First, let me apologize for the way we were chatting on your thread while waiting.
Let me summerize what I think we have here:
    1. You have a 2 minute show you want to convert to some codec appropriate for high quality presentation, but under 100MB final filesize.
    2. You feel you don't want to use Compressor or a preset for YouTube.
    3. You're in a hurry.
The fastest and highest quality method of making this conversion is using Compressor. It is designed to do precisely what you ask. The codec you want is H.264.
The YouTube preset is being suggested not because we think you're going to upload the clip to that site, but because the YouTube preset is a remarkably easy way to get a HQ H.264 clip with acceptable filesize. I'm staring at a 3:40 clip of 1080p that would knock your socks off and it's 90MB!
Even on a laptop the conversion is a matter of minutes.
If you're OK with my arguement, I'll write out a step-by-step proc for you and you can be done with this in time for that primetime show you want to watch.  OK?

  • How do I compress a video that 160mb to 25 mb for an email

How do I compress a video that 160mb to 25 mb for an email

After it's re-encoded using a lossy format, the OP could also use an application (of choice) to create a segmented file (rar, etc.) and send each portion in individual emails. Most severs won't allow anything over 5 GB, so the user could choose 4 GB segments and the receiver could use a free un-rar app (quite a few available in the App Store - even more for Windows users) to extract the video.
    Just some random thoughts...

  • How do I compress a video file on mac

Please help!!  I have just created a movie using iMovie which is 175 mb. How do I compress it so I can email it to a friend?

If the file is longer than a minute in time then it may be too large for email.
Better to use an online file sharing service to send the 175 MB version.

  • How to achieve small file size after editing compressed video?

I recieved a video in .wmv file format with a file size of 6 MB. In  Premiere its info is
    320 x 240 (1.0)
    00;03;17;01, 30.00 fps
    44100 Hz - Stereo
I want to remove a few parts from the video with simple cuts and make video file with an appropriate file size and format for playing on a web page.
I made a simple test by importing and placing the video in a sequence and without any editing exported the sequence to FLV|F4V format with the preset: F4V - Same as source(Flash 9.0r115 and higher). This created a new video with the same quality as the original but the file size went to about 40 MB which I think will make it much slower than the original 6 MB file when played back on a web page.
I tried things like reducing the frame rate to 10 fps and lowering the sound quality. This didn't affect noticably the quality but the file size was reduced only with about 5 MB to the total of 35MB which is still very big for a web video.
I'm aware that editing a highly compressed videos can't produce the same quality with the same size but I will greatly appreciate any tips for lowering the files size while retaining some usable quality in a case like this.

Since wmv is Microsoft's format, you might want to use their free editor

  • How do I compress .mov and .mpg files

I have several mpg1video clips at 18.8MB each, how do I compress them into smaller files. I want to e-mail them at about 2-3MB each, and maintain good quality? Power Mac G5 2.3 OSX 10.4.4 My objective is to upload 30 second video commercials and 2-3 minute clips to my web site or e-mail them to various clients. Need help.

For most users just using a browser other than Safari solves the trouble.
When I encounter pages that don't show the Pro "pull down" (right end of the controller) I simply Control click on the video window to bring up the contextual menu.

  • Options for compressing video in iPhoto

So after using iPhoto for several years now, I've got lots of HD video snippets (hefty MOV files) scattered all throughout my years of created iPhoto Events. I don't have any intention of using iMovie to drag all the pics and movies together and make a "produced" movie, but instead just want to be able to access the individual iPhoto events & albums from my AppleTV for viewing with family. The newest Home Sharing feature of iTunes allows me to do this.. watching all the pictures & videos within albums and events - a great new feature. Unfortunately though, the large HD files take for ever (5 mins +) to load to the AppleTV before playing, thus ruining the "home video" experience.
I've done some experimenting compressing a few video files into 1080i .mp4 format using Quicktime then reimporting them into iPhoto. Without an "import to event" feature, it takes a while to find the imported files, then merge them with the original Event. When streaming the revised iPhoto event with the newly compressed video content, the files loaded quickly (1 to 2 sec) and were of acceptable quality.
I'm pleased with the results of this experiment, however, at 15 mins of work per video it would take way too much time to do this manually for my entire library. There are no features of iPhoto I know of that can perform the compression task, thus requiring all the file moving back and forth. Does anyone have suggestions on how this task could otherwise be done in a simpler fasion or using an automated technique?
    Thanks for the help,
    Chris

Check out Automator. I'm no expert on this, but it seems like you can get the Videos (gather them in a Smart Album first) and encode them with QuickTime in a workflow. That's half the work done. That just leaves you with replacing them in iPhoto.
And you can do this in iMovie too. You don't have to edit, just import them (which you can do from the iPhoto Library inside the iMovie window, add them to a time line and encode them as you prefer. Then export.
Not sure there is any way around manually adding and replacing them in iPhoto after though.

I use Final Cut Pro and want to post the video on iweb, but the files are too large . How can i compress these video down to 10 MB so the page will load quicker?

An accurate response demands more details specific to your scenario. General suggestions include making your movie shorter in length and compressing your movie at lower data rate, smaller video dimensions and using a more acceptable codec for web delivery.

  • How can i get video downloader for nokia 5530

how can i download video from youtube on my nokia 5530

this quote is from one of the applications available for the iPhone 3G:
Record at the maximum speed of the iPhone camera (6-15 frames per second, depending only on lighting conditions) with no compression delay between pressing stop and getting to view the resulting video.
Video files are recorded at 384x288, a 4x3 (television) aspect ratio.
The iPhone 3G S records VGA-resolution (640 by 480) at 30 frames per second, witch is the standard speed capture.
This says it all, Apple does not add a Video Record functionality to the iPhone 3G because the camera is not ready for such things, and give a bad think to the users was never Apple line!
