How do i configure ical to email me when people accept/decline invites

Im running Mac 10.8.2 and im trying to get the calander to email me when someone accepts or declines my invites
My email is configured for smtp and my calander/contacts are managed by the icloud
The only way i know if someone has accepted is to open the event and check the status of the invitees

If you send an email to a non-existant email address, you would get a Mailor Daemon message from the server.
If you send a vaild and correct email address to the correct person, but they have used up their server quota, the email will not be deivered and you would get a response from the server.
If you sent an email with a vaild email address, but not the correct email address for that person, then that email would get delivered to that email address even though it is not for the correct person and you would not get any notification because it was delivered as instructed.
So, if the email is not delivered then you would get a response email from the server.

There is no method of any server knowing or indeed anyone knowing whether you have typed the correct email address for the recipient. That responsibility is down to you. Servers can only know whether it can or cannot be delivered for various reasons.

That is a function of your email account, if it is an Imap account it will sync, if it's a POP account, it won't.

That's because you're using the same Apple ID on both devices. On your phone: Settings>FaceTime>You Can Be Reached at>Remove your Apple ID.

I am at a new office that uses Outlook (not Outlook Exchange) which does not sync with my mobile... I just got iCloud set up on my PC to sync my contacts, calendar, reminders, etc... The sync worked (not without flaws, but the other issues seem solvable... I think), so that i can now see all my appointments on both my phone and on my PC. The problem I am having is that iCloud moved all of my calendar items from Outlook into iCloud calendar and now when I send out meeting/calendar invites the recipients may accept them, but the meeting does not get added to their calendar. This is a huge problem and may mean that i need to turn off iCloud.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am replying to my own post here as I seem to have fixed the problem.
I do have some calendars that are shared. Some of those are shared with users who have time zone support turned on. So i activated time zone support on my iphone, then deleted my icloud subscription. I then signed in to icloud again and voila... problem solved.
It is a weird one as the other calendar views were always fine and when you opened an event that appeared in the wrong day (on list view), the correct date of the event was shown in the information...

iCal's help files on how to set an email alarm for iCal are clear as mud to me. If I click on alarm in Info of an event, select email as type of alarm, then a popup says must add card with name and own email in Address Book. Fine, click on Open Address Book. Well, then what? I already have more than one card in there with an email address for me. Even if I select one, nothing happens. So how do I make the connection? How can I tell iCal which card to use? I see nothing in Address Book menus or help files.

Been dealing with a similar issue for about 3 years now, so I know your pain. Apple will not solve this problem because they're a stickler for standards, no matter what the rest of the world really needs. I'm using the current Mavericks Server. I would like to configure Alerts to email Alerts to me. My server is *not* an email server, so email alerts would have to go out through an external SMTP server. How do I specify the SMTP server that should be used for emailing alerts?

I think the only way to set it up via the GUI is to activate the mail server service and set it to send through the external SMTP server.

I have had this problem for a while now and I can't seem to find a solution.
When I invite people to an event in iCal, the invitation is e-mailed without a problem to the invited people. If they accept, I can watch this on both my iPhone and in iCal. Nevertheless I never receive any e-mail or notification when someone accepts.
Is it possible to receive an e-mail or quick notification on my iPhone about that?

In Acrobat Pro, open the form and go to the Advanced menu and choose enable usage rights for Reader users.
Now, they will be able to fill out the form and save it to send it back to you in an email.
Be aware that there is a 500 use per form limit so this isn't a good answer for high volume use forms.

Currently when I close a message I've been reading, the next message opens. I want instead to return to my email folder when I close an open email. How do I make this happen?

Well, I'm note sure what you mean by "close a message" since ther really isn't a control for that, but assume you are tapping the up adn down navigation buttons.
To see the email list, tap the mailbox button (upper left), or if you view mail in landscape mode, the mail box lists is automatically always visible.

How do I stop iCal sending emails?

I've added an exchange account to iCal. However, it recently started sending massive amounts of "Declined" emails for events, some of which are far in the past (years ago.) This happens for multiple events and multiple recipients. I believe the problem is that at one time I "deleted" everything in the iCal notifications area, as it was cluttered with meetings that were no longer relevant.
However, iCal now wants to send emails to everyone on those invites telling them of the Decline. In one minute, my mail account sent over 150 emails, which is very embarassing and inconvienent for other users. I actually had to pull the ethernet cable and disable iCal.
Is there a way to "flush" these out with mass-emailing everyone? I can't find a way to tell what is going to be sent without actually being online. I tried deleting my account in iCal and recreating, but the same behavior happened the next day. I have Outlook running in a VM and have been using that in the interim, and it doesn't seem to have the issue.
I want to go back to using iCal exclusively, but I'm afraid to even open the program at this point. Help!

I just went back into my brother's calendar and he has that event as a recurring event from August 2007 to November 2011 at which point apple moved accounts to me.com. So it shows every week and I think when I moved I selected last event and checked repeat to never and applied to 'all future events' when pop-up gave that option. So is there any way to resolve this? His calendar does not show any sharing.

OK, got my new 11" MBA, Mail is all set up with my Exchange server details and messages are flowing in and out. Contacts are being saved, all good. Except that iCal refuses to play ball; I just get the account cant be refreshed. My mailbox is on Exchange 2003 - anybody got this working?

iCal only works with Exchange 2007 or later. Microsoft uses a different connection protocol in Exchange 2003.
You can try Davmail. I do not use it and I am not promoting it so no guarantees. The posts I'm reading seem to indicated it's a bit buggy, but maybe it's sufficient for you.
Ralistically, your company should be seriously considering upgrading since Exchange 2003 is already past normal support and will go end of life in a couple of years. Additionally, Exchange 2010 now supports Safari for Mac when connecting to Outlook Web Access, so basically, Microsoft really started showing support for Mac in Exchange 2010 (and not just giving Mac lip service.)

I believe you will have to use AppleScript or Automator to extract all the e-mail addresses from the selected messages, then add those to a new outgoing message. If you're not sure how to do that, try asking over on the [AppleScript forum|http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=724].
Also, note that most e-mail servers apply limits to the number of different addresses you are able to send to at one time. Some have limits for single messages, limits per hour or per day, etc. Check with your e-mail provider to be sure this message will be sendable. And make absolutely sure all those addresses are on the Bcc line, otherwise everyone will be able to see addresses for everyone else you sent to, which will not be appreciated by some.
