How do I configure my phone to the most recent sync in iTunes?

I am attempting to set up a temporary replacement phone and my attempts to restore my phone to the most recent backup (completed earlier today) are not working. Instead, my iTunes only recognizes the most recent backup from 1/22/13.
Is there any way I can change my most recent backup so that my iTunes will acknowledge it? If this is not possible, how can I sync the new phone so I don't lose almost three months of text history, photos, notes, etc?
I am using Mac OS X 10.5.8, and both the original and replacement phone are the 4S.

Itunes only keeps one backup and every time you make a new backup the old one is overwritten. If you still have your old phone then make a manual backup of it (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766). As to the replacement phone and the three months of messages etc you might use a program likeiphone backup extractor to retrieve and keep information on it and also do a backup but remember you can't merge the two backups and if you restore from a backup the information that you get back is per whatever was on the backup you used for the restore

First, are you positive it is really not there? Have you looked in your iTunes folder in your Music folder, and in the media folders there? Do you see your media files?
If your media are gone it is a lot easier to restore from a proper computer backup. Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

just hit the  logo in the menu bar (the menu bar is the bar wich is in the top of ur screen) then click "Software Update..." and check the where it says iTunes, then click Update. ur mac will restart and then iTunes will have the latest version (10.5.1)

Exactly what version of iTunes are you running? And DON'T say 'the latest version'... CHECK the version number. You need to be running 11.1 or higher.

Since installing the most recent version of iTunes, I have to accept the software terms and conditions every time I go in to iTunes. I sign in to my account, but when I re-open iTunes, as well as having to accept the terms and conditions before continuing, I find that iTunes has logged me out of my account. I downloaded the most recent version of iTunes and now it won't launch

I have a PC with over 800 gb of space, most of which is unused, and am running Windows 7, and when I opened iTunes (which opened and worked just fine) I was prompted to download the most recent version of iTunes and iCloud. Upon completion of the download, which indicated it was successful, I had to restart my computer. When I tried to launch iTunes this time, I got two error messages: "The procedure entry point ADAdPolicyEngine_DidEnterStation could not be located in the dynamic link library iAdCore.dll" and "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes."
Last summer I got to the point where I was unable to access iTunes at all and worked for weeks with Apple support to correct the issue to no avail. I had my computer in the shop and they were able to clean up a couple of corrupted files, and thereafter iTunes worked great.
I'm afraid to uninstall iTunes for fear I'll never get it back. Anybody have suggestions?

P. S. Just got brave and uninstalled iTunes and re-installed it. Got the same error message: Entry Point Not Found - The procedure entry point ADAdPolicyEngine_DidEnterStation could not be located in the dynamic link library iAdCore.dll
Now I can't get to iTunes at all. Help, please!

Yesterday I downloaded the most recent version of itunes and created a playlist....i was unable to burn it to a CD. Message was there was no burner...it's like the entire drive is missing from my computer. My computer tech guy said the same thing happened to him but he hasn't found the fix yet. Any help???

iTunes checks for updates approx. once a week. If you go to the Summary page for your Touch and look next to the" Check for Updates" button it lists the date that iTunes will perform the next check for updates. To check for an update before this date, click the "Check for Updates" button. If iTunes doesn't indicate that the iOS 5 update is available for your device then you're Touch is probably not supported by the new OS.

How do I change mail so only the most recent mail from a person opens?

When I open mail and go to a new mail all of the files/documents that, that person has ever sent me from previous days open as well. The other emails that I do not want also show up on the right side of my mail in the preview the document part. How do I change it so that I only see the email I am clicking on not a scrolling document of all of the mail items the sender has sent me. Videos will not play after downloading the mmost recent versions of Itunes and Quicktime. What can I do? The video tries to start but freezes and does not respond.

I tried putting quicktime in "safe mode", but that also did not solve the video-play problem.
However, I downloaded a video and that video does play.
A video may start but quickly freezes.
In itunes is the player "quicktime or itunes"?
When I open the quicktime player(its appearance doesn't look like a player with controls for play, pause, etc.).
Maybe the controls appear when play begins' however, then I try to open any song of video, I always get the same message: "Do you want to allow this website to open a program on your computer(in itunes, I assume).)
If i choose "yes" I get an error message.
I thought this additional information might be helpful, but you can just answer the original question if you have some additional ideas.

Recently, I downloaded iTunes version 10.5.3. Now, I double click it on my desktop, and in the iTunes process appears briefly in Task Manager. It gets up to the memory usage where it normally opens, but now, when it gets to that point, the task disappears, and won't reappear. I've tried many times to reopen it, but the same problem happens every time. I have already reinstalled iTunes, then removed it completely and installed it again, and the problem persists. Is there any way I can fix the problem?

Try following steps and test one at a time:
1. Restart computer, right mouse click iTunes icon and select "Run As Administrator"
2. If that does not work, check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.
3. If that fails or you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:

4. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

I backed up my phone because I was upgrading hardware but when I went to "restore from backup" it wasn't listed in iTunes. I can see the files in a folder but not in iTunes. Is there any way of backing up my phone from the most recent backup?

If you go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices you can see if you have an iTunes backup. You need one dated before or the exact time you started the restore.
