Have you tried holding the power button down for several seconds? I would try the force quit as mentioned earlier first, or go to the Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities and try force quit there.

You must have the credentials that were used to turn on Find my iPhone on the device. Without them, you can not get past the activation lock.

On new MBP I keep getting message that I need to shut down and then restart
I just got a new 13" MBP. I took the old 500GB 7200 rpm HD (which was operating perfectly) out of my old 13" white MB and put it in the new MBP. Now at boot I get as far as a gray screen, then I get a black screen with text in several languages saying that I need to shut off and then restart the computer. I went through this drill 5 times with no indication that anything was improving. I am sure that the edge card connector is fully seated on the old HD. Any ideas as to what is happening here?
The Operating System for the old and new machine is different, you can't just swap drives like that, what you're getting is a Kernel Panic.
You need to install the OS from the install discs that came with the new machine onto that hard drive. Boot from your new install DVD (hold c at start) and do an Archive Install of the OS so it saves your user data. -

The Apple solution is to register for and use separate Apple ID's on both devices and Apple software:
Purchase FaceTime from the Apple Mac App store. (US$0.99 for Version 1.1 last time I checked).
The US iPad 2 already includes the FaceTime App.
I've read that Skype also works with a Skype app for the iPad, but I have not tried it. -

when i click to open firefox it says that "firefox is already running but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." and I've tried to shut down and restart my computer but it keeps showing the same message. im making a photo slide show using imovie. how will i make a dvd copy that can play in both pc and dvd player. i dont have an idvd anymore. m using a mbp early 2011 osx 10.8.5.
