How do i connect an epson 7900 printer to an apple extreme

I just purchased an Epson 7900 HDR printer that is in my den. I have it connected with a USB connection on the Airport Extreme to the network connection on the back of the printer.I am trying to print wirelessly from my Imac that is located in another room.
I can't seem to get it to recognize or "see the Epson printer"
I would appreciate any insight to solve the issue.

Can you briefly describe the steps that you took to install the printer at the AirPort Extreme and then try to print?
What happens after each step?

Just updated the latest Epson software printer update from Apple. Now all my prints look solarized. How do I get rid of the new update and go back to the perfect prints I had before? Help please. Wasting ink and paper at the moment!!!!!!
I have tried the printer with my laptop (not updated) and everything is fine. It's just the beautiful 27" Imac that can no longer print.

Might be a corrupted printer preference file ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/Library/Preferences
    Click Go
Move the com.apple.PrinterPrefs.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac, restart the printer...

How do you connect a canon wireless printer up to a iPad 2nd generation?

Read this to see if your printer model supports Airprint: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If your printer is not Airprint capable you may need an App to print, for example PrintCentral, etc.

  • When trying to connect to epson nx420 printer it disappears from the list of printers..

how do i select my epson nx420 printer when it automatically disappears when i try to click it?

Are you using IPP or LPD? IPP usually gives better results, if activated at the printer. As for automatic driver selection, it normally doesn't work thru TCP/IP, only thru AppleTalk. So you have to scroll down and look for the specific model. If not there, make sure you don't have a "Lexmark Printer Drivers Update" pending to install on System Update. Or visit the Lexmark.com site and download the drivers file to install.

  • How do I connect both a Mac and PC to Apple TV Home Sharing?

    Goal
    - I am trying to share both my PC and Mac through my Apple TV2 on the "Computers" home sharing menu.
    - These are 2 seperate iTunes accounts as they are 2 different owners of the PC and Macbook.
    - However, home sharing only allows me to have one at a time, can I not have 2 computers connected?
(The menu is in fact plural and says "Computers" not "Computer")
    Attempt
-I turn on home sharing on my PC with my PC iTunes account, it then shows up on the "Computers" list as PC
-I turn on home sharing on my Mac with my Mac iTunes account, it then shows up on the "Computers" list as Mac, but it deletes the PC share
    Troubleshoot
-So I started from scatch and connected the PC share with my PC itunes account, it shows up,
-Then I connect the Mac home sharing with the same iTunes login as my PC, but it also erases my PC from the "Computers" list and just displays the Mac.
    Question
-How do I connect both a Mac and PC to Apple TV Home Sharing?
-I want them both to show up in the "Computers" list.
-So the final result will look like this on my Apple TV menu:
    Computers
    -PC
    -Mac
whew... I'm out of breath... I hope there is an Apple Genius out there that can help.
    Thanks!

After retrying the home share with the SAME ITUNES ACCOUNT ON HOME SHARING I finally got it to work.

  • How can I connect Bluetooth in iPad retina with non apple devices ?

How can I connect Bluetooth in iPad retina with non apple devices ?

    What devices?
The iPad can only pair with earphones, speakers and keyboards.
It cannot directly pair with other phones or computers for file transfer or other operations.
Most Bluetooth devices will have a user guide to connect them to other devices. follow that to start the process.
From the iPad side, its just a matter of going inot Settings->BlueTooth turning it on, and searching for the device to pair.

    Hi @nancy0526
I would like to help you print from your iPhone.
AirPrint is a mobile printing solution included with the Apple iOS v4.2 mobile operating system version and later.
iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch users can print wirelessly to any ePrint-enabled HP printer that is connected to the same local wireless network. Most HP printers released in 2010 and later support AirPrint.
Many Apple apps support AirPrint, including Safari, Mail, Photos, and iWorks. Additionally, other popular apps available in the App Store are supported. In the app, tap the Action icon ( or  ), and then tap Print to print with AirPrint.
This information and more can be found in the following HP document; How to Use Apple's AirPrint Over a Wireless Network.
    I hope this helps.

  • How do I connect an ethernet network printer?

I'm trying to connect to an ethernet printer (Xerox WorkCentre 7428) on my LAN using a new Airport Extreme. I've tried connecting the ethernet cable via a switch, and also connecting directly into the ethernet ports on the Airport with no success.

From Xerox's manual for that printer:
To see the IP address of the printer, press the Machine Status button on the printer control panel. The IP address is displayed on the left of the touch screen.
    More from Xerox's support site:
Solution : Configure the Printer to Automatically Obtain an IP Address (From a DHCP Server) From the Control Panel
Login as the System Administrator or Key Operator. See the Related Items below for additional information.
Press the [Machine Status) button on the control panel.  The Machine Status tab will be displayed on the Touch Screen.
    Select the [Tools] tab.
    Select the [System Settings] button.
Select the [Connectivity and Network Settings] option from the Group section.
Select the [Protocol Settings] option from the Features section.
Select [IPv4- IP address Resolution], and then select the [Change Settings] button.
Select [DHCP], and then select the [Save] button.
    Select the [Close] button.
Press the [Log In / Out] button on the Control Panel. A "Do you want to reboot the machine now for settings to take effect?" message will be displayed.
Select the [Reboot Now] button on the Touch Screen.
Assigning the printer a static IP address (that is, one not assigned using DCHP) consistent with your AirPort Extreme's addressing scheme is preferable for printers. Instructions describing that very fundamental task are annoyingly absent from its manual though. At Step 8 in the above, see if there is an option for a static IP address. Specify one as I described earlier.

  • Connecting HP LaserJet P3015 printer (via Cat5e) to Extreme base

I've configured my network (thanks to the help of this forum):
Airport Extreme Base station (extended by Airport Express).
My laptops (connected wirelessly) run OS10.7.5.  I am using Airport Utility 6.3.1
I am attempting to configure an HP LaserJet P3015n (which apparently is part of the HP3010 series) via ethernet cable.  I've connected the ethernet cable from Airport Extreme to printer.
Previously, I had successfully configured the HP3015n via USB cable when my Airport Express was my "main" base station.
But now I'm unable, since configuring the Airport Extreme as my main base station and the printer via Cat5e cable, to get the HP3015n recognized via Print & Scan in the Sys Prefs or through the printer window (e.g. when you print a doc via MS Word).
I read this Apple Support Doc:  "OS X Mountain Lion: Set up an IP printer" (even though I'm using 10.7.5) to see if I could glean some info.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11478?viewlocale=en_US
    What I've done or noted:
    1) removed the old p3015n listing from that I had configured via USB in case something needs to be reset
    2) selected the 3015n printer (via the + sign) and tried to add software drivers for it.  I select the 3015n printer as the one listed "nearby" printer (and I wonder if that printer is coming up because it was previously configured on my network or if this is a "fresh" "sighting" by my network?  When I do attempt to download software for it, Apple at first reports that the software is avail but after what seems to be an attempted download, that it can't be installed.
    3) I note that the HP printer address (which I gleaned form the printer's LCD screen) is 10.0.1.9
    4) The driver appears to be named 3010 even though the printer is 3015.  Previously I had installed the 3010 driver and that is the name by which the printer has previously been recognized.
    5)  I was able to printer out some pages on the printer via the LCD screen with all kinds of info.  Including an "Embedded Jetdirect page," "Embedded Protocol page," and a "Configuration page."  My understanding from reading a few Apple Support Docs previously is that Jetdirect is among the ways that I can configure the printer.  So maybe that is one way?
Thanks for your time and insights!

Most older HP LaserJets must be assigned a new static IP address any time the router changed. Based on the excellent information in this thread and others, I compiled a complete protocol for doing this and in particular when using a newer (2013) Airport Extreme.  My printer is an HP LaserJet 4050N.
Connect the LaserJet to one of the Airport Extreme's ethernet LAN ports using a Cat5e cable.
    Open the Airport Utility
Click on the Icon of the base station to confirm the LAN IP address (usually 10.0.1.1).
Click the Edit button and then the Internet menu to display the Subnet Mask (usually 255.255.240.0).
    Close by clicking Cancel.
    On the LaserJet
Click the green ‘GO’ button until the display reads ‘Offline’
Click ‘MENU’ 7 times or until ‘EIO 2 JETDIRECT MENU’ shows
Press ‘ITEM’ button until ‘CFG NETWORK=NO *’ is displayed
Press ‘VALUE’ button until value reads ‘YES’
    Press ‘SELECT’
Press ‘ITEM’ button until ‘CFG TCP/IP=NO*’ is displayed
Press ‘VALUE’ button until value reads ‘YES’
    Press ‘SELECT’
Press ‘ITEM’ button until ‘BOOTP=NO’ is displayed (or press ‘VALUE’ button until value reads ‘NO’ and then press ‘SELECT’)
    Press ‘ITEM’ button until
‘IP BYTE 1=XXX’ is displayed and where I have put ‘XXX’ using the ‘VALUE’ button enter the first number of the ‘IP’ address displayed in ‘Airport Utility’ (usually 10).
Repeat this procedure for ‘BYTE 2, 3 AND 4’ by using entering a value each time using the ‘VALUE’ button and then pressing ‘SELECT’ before finally moving onto the next ‘IP BYTE’ value using the ‘ITEM’ button.
After all of the ‘IP’ values have been entered pressing the ‘ITEM’ button will display ‘SM BYTE 1=XXX’ – this is the ‘Subnet Mask’ value. Follow the same process as for the ‘IP’ address and enter the values given in the ‘Ethernet’ pane in ‘Network’ under ‘System Preferences’.
After entering the final ‘Subnet Mask (SM)’ value (BYTE 4) press ‘SELECT’ and finally press the green ‘GO’ button.
Open System Preferences and click on "Print & Scan".
Click on the ‘+’ tab on the left of the ‘Printers’ Pane.
    Click on the ‘IP’ tab.
From the drop down 'Protocol' menu select 'Line Printer Daemon'.
In the Address field enter the ‘IP’ values that you entered in the printer except change the last digit (usually 1) to 100 (usually 10.0.1.100).  (The base station can manage more than 100 IP values and this ensures the first 99 other assigned IPs will not conflict.)
In the 'Print Using' menu choose a Driver/Model (if an appropriate one is not set automatically).
    Click ‘Add’.
Close the 'Print & Scan' window.
The Printer name will appear as the IP address you assigned in the 'Printer' pull down menu in the Print window of your applications. Select it to print to that printer.

  • How can I fax using my rendezvous printer, wirelessly via Airport Extreme?

I am trying to fax a files from my G4 PowerBook, using my printer, which is setup as a rendezvous printer, via my Airport Extreme Base Station. However, I can't get the fax program to find the printer, when it scans. It only allows me to use the Internal Modem or Bluetooth. How can I send a file to the printer and then use the printer to fax?
    Thanks. Wade

Got it - the problem is setting up and or using the modem inside the printer. The Canon website specs for that printer does say OS X compatible, but if Canon support is telling you it won't work I imagine that part of the driver that runs the dialog box and dialer isn't implemented in the Mac version. Just guessing here.
They cost $49 but you could get this USB modem from Apple and fax directly from your Mac without printing but that would be a shame having another modem in your printer.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=MA0 34Z/A
I guess you could ask Canon if that's the reason it won't work, and if so when they plan to update the Mac driver to use the modem. You might get an unsatisfactory answer, though!

  • My 1st Apple, Mac Pro.  How do I connect an Epson XP-610 Printer?

So, I just got the computer... Always had PCs before.  My problem is this:
I need to use a printer with the device.  I bought an Epson XP-610.  There is almost no documentation with the printer.  (Maybe, on line there is)
I got the printer out of the box, set it up, even managed a test print from the printer, but not from the Mac.  I searched the help directory, found a referenct to choosing the Apple Menu, then Software Update, to make sure the OS X has the latest info about the printer software that can be downloaded from Apple. It went on to tell me to open a doc there called file >prin t...then open the printer popup menu choose my printer (Epson XP-610).  It said that, if the printer is not in the list, to choose Add Printer from the printer popup menu.  Then when the printer shows up, to click it and add it.
My problem is that I don't know how to find the Apple Menu to start out.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Apple menu is the small Apple icon at the upper left hand corner of your screen - it's always there.
Here -> http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11145?viewlocale=en_US - is a document that explains how to set up a printer (don't worry that it says Mountain Lion, the procedure is the same).
Good luck with your new Mac - feel free to jump in with questions at any time.

It's always possible that another user on an Apple support site might know the answer to this Epson question.....and you can wait to see if someone will reply......but, since you have a question about an Epson product, you will likely receive a much faster and informed answer if you ask your question on an Epson support site.
