How do I connect directly to external wall speakers with my iPhone

Hi All,
In the shop where I work they have a couple of speakers built into the wall. There is a wall plate where a person could connect to these speakers with a stereo. (two wires for each speaker) Can I connect directly to these speakers with some sort of a breakout wire coming off the iPhone's 3.5mm headphone jack (suggestions) or the iPhone's dock connector (suggestions). I just want to listen to random music from my iPhone and I really don't want to buy a speaker system for my iphone for this location.
Thanks,
KDC

No. The iPhone doesn't have the power to drive speakers. If you can get to the input of the amp that feeds those speakers, then you do what you want.

  • How could I connect directly to timesten on UNIX?

I've try to compile the timesten test program which check the connection if I connected directly or using driver manager, I compile it with this option
    CC -g -c -m64 -mt -I/opt/TimesTen/tt70/include mahm.cpp
    CC -m64 -mt -g -o mahm *.o -L/opt/TimesTen/tt70/lib -ltten
and it shows that I connect through the driver manager taking into concederation the machin I use is
    SunOS its-dic 5.9 Generic_118558-26 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-280R
so how could I connect directly?

    Hi,
I've looked into this a bit more and it seems the whole basis for this code is incorrect. I will raise a doc. bug to get the documentation corrected. When calling SQLGetInfo with the request SQL_DRIVER_HDBC, this option can only be esxecuted by a driver manager, not an ODBC driver. hence (since you do not have a driver manager) the TT ODBC driver correctly returns 'Driver not capable'. This, plus the fact that the error string includes the text TimesTen 7.0.1.0.0 ODBC Driver clearly shows that you are not connecting via a driver manager. So, this is how you can test for this in code...
having said that, as I mentioned previously, Linux/Unix does not incldue any ODBC driver manager by default, and TimesTen certainly does not. So, unless you have deliberatley downloaded a 3rd party DM, built it and then are linking with the DN library (which you are not) then there is no possibility that you could be connecting via a driver manager. Even on Windows, which does include a DM, you need to link with it explicitly. If you link with the TT libraries directly then no Driver manager is involved.
So, in general, there is no need to make this check in your code unless you build / use different versions of the binaries, some linked with a driver manager and some not.

  • I have a Synology NAS server and a Maxtor HD connected directly to my router. With Snow Leopard I was able to connect through finder directly to the devices and move files accordingly. Now with Lion I cannot connect to either device directly. Solution?

How do you connect to NAS/External HD on router directly with "connect to" command in Finder. Worked in Leopard, but not in Lion?

Yes, if the hard drive with the video files is formatted correctly for Mac
On the Mac with the hard drive connected....click on the Time Machine "clock" icon at the top of the screen
    Click Time Machine Preferences
    Click Options
Here you will see a list of items that have been excluded from backups
Click the name of the hard drive to highlight it
Click the - (minus) button at the bottom of the list to remove the hard drive from the list of excluded items
The hard drive will now be backed up with your Mac on the next pass that Time Machine makes

  • How can I connect to a database from ipaq with cldc??

how can I connect to a database from ipaq with cldc??

    Hi Again
There is a library by Mimer which allows you do connect to a Mimer SQL Server, don't know must about it, but here is a link.
    http://developer.mimer.com/
If that doesn't suit you, I suspect that you will have to use some sort of proxy solution. Either by creating a servlet to accept the sql string you want to send, or by creating your own custom proxy server running J2EE. The servlet or the proxy server must be able to receive an SQL String, do the query to the actual database and return the results in some sort of format to the mobile device. Maybe just a space delimited string.
    Hope this helps

  • Hi, can someone help me how can i connected my multimeter to my pc with rs232, because my computer can´t recognize the device, i mean the multimeter, is a multimeter keithley serie 2400, and i already downloaded all the drivers for labview even the VISA

hi, can someone help me how can i connected my multimeter to my pc with rs232, because my computer can´t recognize the device, i mean the multimeter, is a multimeter keithley serie 2400, and i already downloaded all the drivers for labview even the VISA

    Marco,
    Here are some suggestions:
    1) Check the manual the Keithley manual to see how to configure the RS-232.
On some models you need set Factory defaults to USER and turn on the RS-232.
Also there may be a setting for SCPI which you want on (probably on by default).
    2) On your PC - open Device Manager. See if a COM port exists and is functional.
You must get this working before continuing.
You can set the COM port parameters by right clicking and selecting Properties.
(On some PCs the onboard ports can be disabled in the BIOS)
    3) If step two was OK, open MAX (Measurement and Automation eXplorer).
On the left side, click on Devices and Hardware.
        Click on Serial and Parallel.
Go to the COM port you found in Device Manager.
        Open a VISA Test Panel.
Now I don't have one I can look at right now, so this is general idea:
Configure the COM port to match the Keithley settings (should be OK if step 2 worked)
Go to the (I think) Input Output tab (you want to send a command)
The command string input should already have a *IDN? entered, if not, type it in.
Click on the Query button to send the command and check the response.
If you get an ID string back (Company name, Model, FW Version ...) then it works.
(Disregard an error saying it did not get enough charcters back.)
    I hope this helps,
    steve

Good question! The simple answer is, I haven't the foggiest idea. I will be going abroad, so don't know what kind of OHP i will have to use. I have a lead that connects with a tv (HDMI - I think). But am not sure about OHPs.

  • How do I send SMS only at ALL TIMES with an iPhone to ALL contacts? My family shares iPads under my ID and now my teenager gets all my business texts!

How do I send SMS only at ALL TIMES with an iPhone to ALL contacts? iOS 8 now forces all Apple users to use iMessage all the time with all other iOS users. The option to send as SMS only is subordinate to iMessage in iOS 8 settings and CANNOT be turned off to send only SMS texts to another iOS device! This is a serious privacy issue for all households using iOS and doing family sharing, including over a number of iOS devices, under one member's Apple ID. Why should business conversations or financial conversations between parents be readable on an iPad in the hands of a teenager or a seven year old? The answer is not as simple as "Just don't enable iMessage on your other devices," because amy family that shares the Apple ID password is vulnerable to teenagers particularly hacking into iMessage to monitor, for example, what their parents are saying. If I were Samsung or Google I would hammer this issue immediately and continually until it is fixed by Apple (and I'm not sure why they haven't yet). iMessage is a convenience but it has this serious limitation given the architecture of the Apple universe. Apple simply cannot force all its users to conduct text messaging in arbitrarily limited way, any more than it was able to force all its users to switch from Google Maps. When will Apple fix this?

    Trademann wrote:
Fox, that does not work, because then you are blocked from sending any form of message to another Apple user. iMessage MUST be activated to text any other iOS device. And then Apple defaults by ALWAYS using iMessage between iOS devices. There is simply no way, within iOS 8, to send SMS only to another Apple user. Apple has made that impossible.
The SMS-only choice used to be on the same menu level as iMessage, but  now it is locked WITHIN iMessage, and is not available as a choice unless iMessage is activated. Then it is limited solely to being used if iMessage is not available.
I'm sure their argument is that they are saving their customers money because iMessage is free, but they are imposing an opportunity cost on 100 percent of their user base in the guise of saving that money. What they are really doing is entrapping faithful users such as myself further within the Apple ecosystem. If I hadn't already spent thousands of dollars on my iTunes library I might consider a Galaxy ... Samsung does not deserve to regain any momentum if they can't figure out how to exploit this.
Turning off iMessage does not prevent you from sending messages to other Apple users.  You can send an SMS to any iPhone without your own iMessage turned on, even if it is turned on on their iPhone.
The SMS-only option is: Turn off iMessage.  Literally.  That's it.

Sharing an Apple ID for iTunes and App store purchases is not a problem.  Just enter the same Apple ID in Settings>Store>Apple ID.  You can turn on Automatic Downloads here as well.  However, don't share the same iCloud account unless you want to have merged calendars and contacts.  To maintain separation it's best to have separate iCloud accounts with different Apple IDs.  (The Apple ID you use for iCloud does not have to be the same as the one you use for purchases in Settings>Store.)  This article may be of interest: http://www.macstories.net/stories/ios-5-icloud-tips-sharing-an-apple-id-with-you r-family/.
