How do I connect dual PC monitors to my Powermac G5 1.8 GHz?

I have 2 hp L2335 HD monitors I want to use together. They are both DVI monitors, however my G5 has an ADC and DVI plug for it's monitor inputs. The DVI input works fine but when I bought a universal ADC to DVI adapter from Belkin the monitor does not work. The computer recognizes that there is a monitor hooked up (it see it in the prefs display and my mouse can scroll off the screen) but the monitor with the adpater remains black. The monitor also displays an error "No Input Signal" and goes to sleep. It will also say check video connection. My video card is the GeForce FX 5200 Ultra.
What do you think?

Did you try to hook up both monitors to the Belkin adaptor? Trying will determine if your monitor has a bad input port. See if the Belkin adaptor is the problem. I have never used that specific adaptor, but I have always had luck with the Dr. Bott's DVI for ADC adaptor. Best of luck.

    How do I connect three extrenal monitors to my Macbook Pro?

    I have a USB to DVI adapter from kensington. I use to use it to power at 14" display.Moving windows around had some tearing and lag. Typing lagged, but it was use-able. It was fine for displaying diffrent stats. The OS treated it as it would any additional display.
    But I found it undesirable for any thing tha requires lots dragging and clicking.
    Every so often the device would lock up. At witch point the computer would get stuck trying to detect the USB display. I would have to unplug the adapter, cycle the power on the adapter. And then it would be good for a couple more months.
    Also some times after a reboot, the adapter would stop working. I would have to unplug it, and login, and then plug it back in.
    Coping file to my USB 2 harddrive seemed to cause more lag to the USB to Video Adapter.

    Normally, you just connect the monitor to the MacBook using a VGA adaptor that you can buy from an Apple Store.  Now try System Preferences > Displays > Detect Displays.  You should now be able to select a display mode for the monitor.  If it still doesn't work, then I'd check that everything is properly connected.  I've had problems with colours disappearing due to a faulty connection in the VGA adaptor.

    How do I connect a Dell monitor U2715H to my MacBook Pro. The only drivers provided are for Windows.

    THanks, James. My daughter suggested I just plug in my new monitor since Macs often don't need as much driver support as Windows machines. Sure enough, that's all I had to do.

  • Hp dv6 1355dx laptop - how do I connect 2 external monitors?

    I have a HP dv6 1355dx laptop Entertainment PC.  How do I connect 2 external monitors (both have VGA cables) and neither one has HDMI connectors.  My laptop has only 1 VGA connector, so I can display my laptop video and 1 of the external monitors.
    Any help would get greatly appreciated.  I am even willing to buy a docking station or port replicator.

    Hi,
    Docking station or port replicator won't solve the problem because of your internal graphics card. You need something which is similar to the following products:
        http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/
    or USB to 2 VGA monitors but very hard to find (normally you can only get 1 VGA and 1 other, not both VGA's).
    Regards.

  • HT3131 how can i connect 2 external monitors(VGA) to my 2007 macbook pro

    I would like to use 2 external monitors simultaneously with my clamshell closed. I have external keyboard and mouse but need to know how to and what to buy in order to achieve this.....havent found anything straight forward on apple site, like a vga dual monitor splitter, so am in need of some advice on how to do this please!

    Thanks for the reply. Haven't gotten anything as yet. Just that I burned out my older PowerBook using it as a primary screen w/ a secondary 20" monitor. Would be nice if the MacBooks could be used as a CPU only, connect 2 different monitors, and use the LCD screen when portability is needed. But I suppose that is why Apple makes different types of computers. I know I can rig the video SCSI cable to bypass to LCD screen and use the other built-in monitor. But there goes the warentee and any kind of AppleCare... not that I have ever used it, (until a day after it has expired!)
    But thanks for the feedback. Your reply is what I expected. Being that I am a mercenary graphic designer and need to be able to work whenever, and where-ever I need to, the MacPro is not my hardware of choice. As well, I don't have $4000 in my budget. But man do those machines rock! Just think of what NASA could have done with one of those in 1969 when we were going to the moon! But now that the U.S. has decided that manned space travel and even scientific space exploration is not worthy of having a budget, the MacPros are religated to creating new episodes of Jersey Shores!
    Thanks again for your feedback!

  • How do you connect a second monitor to a MacBook Pro

    i am wanting to connect a second monitor to my MAC so i can have 2 of my pages showing at the same time. how do i do that?

    I am pretty sure the MacBook and MacBook Pro only supports ONE external monitor of any description, even though the cabling will support two.
    The short story, that Courcoul has alluded to but not stated, is this:
    All you need is an Adapter. All the software to do elegant multiple display work is already in place in your Mac, and will be activated automatically the moment you plug it in. Nothing to Install, no settings to change. Just plug in the display.
    The default mode is Extended Desktop, where the one-monitor desktop is enhanced by having the area of the second display appended to its right side (or any other side you specify). The mouse moves freely from one display to the other, and can drag windows with it, which can be resized on the other display. You can even drop things so that half is on each display, and they will scroll and update "the right way".

  • How do I connect 2 external monitors with full HD to my MacBook Pro?

    I would like to connect up my 2 external monitors to my MacBook Pro.  But I want to have full HD resolution.  I want to have the desktop stretched so I don't want mirror displays.  What is the best way to accomplish this?  Is there an adapter that I should use?

    Thanks for the reply. Haven't gotten anything as yet. Just that I burned out my older PowerBook using it as a primary screen w/ a secondary 20" monitor. • How do you connect your external monitor(s)?

    More frequently I'm using an external monitor when working on Arch Linux, so I made this script, which works ok for now. This is a simple approach for this kind of stuff I think, so I'm wondering what you people out there are using to connect your external monitors. I guess there's a bunch of people in this community that are using two (or more) monitors? Please post your beloved script or name the package you are using. I would also be happy with some feedback or tips on my script.
    #!/bin/bash
    #~/scripts/vga
    case $1 in
    -r|--right) xrandr --output VGA1 --auto --right-of LVDS1 ;;
    -l|--left) xrandr --output VGA1 --auto --left-of LVDS1 ;;
    -o|--off) xrandr --output VGA1 --off ;;

    When I'm at home I connect my laptop to my TV and use that as the only screen. I have mapped the screen fn-key to this script:
    #!/bin/bash
    if xrandr -q | grep "HDMI1 connected" > /dev/null ; then
    # xrandr --newmode "1920x1080" 138.500 1920 1968 2000 2080 1080 1083 1088 1111 +hsync -vsync
    # xrandr --addmode HDMI1 1920x1080
    xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1360x768
    xrandr --output LVDS1 --off
    else
    xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1366x768
    xrandr --output HDMI1 --off
    fi
    Works perfectly.

  • HT5219 How would I connect dual monitors and also a firewire cable?  Macbook Pro (Retina)

    Currently I am using two thunderbolt to DVI connectors for the dual monitors, but I am left without any firewire cable connection for my audio interface. THe only adaptor I found was another thunderbolt to firewire, but since I already used these two ports, I am left with no options. I haven't been able to find any usb to firewire cable connections.
    Are there any other adapators/ports I can use that I am not aware of?

    Something like this at US$300:

    Highlights
    One cable output provides instant access to eight ports

    One Gigabit Ethernet port
    One FireWire 800 port
    One Thunderbolt port
    One 3.5 mm headphone output Jack
    One 3.5 mm audio Input Jack
