How do I connect Epson TX550W wirelessly to Airport network?

I have an Airport Express network connecting an MBP (10.6.3) and an iMac G5 (10.5.11) to a satellite modem. I want to introduce an Epson TX550W fully wirelessly, so that scanning is enabled and one computer doesn't need to rely on the other being up.
The printer/scanner worked when the MBP was connected by Airport (used as a single node) which plugged into a switch along with the printer and iMac. I can't fathom the directions to make the printer wireless only.

I found when I chased through the problem help something which wasn't in the set-up i.e. go to the printer and login to the airport network via the setup menu. Once I worked out how to enter a password connection was fine.
Print/scan to my MBP under 10.6.4 is good. On the iMac G5 with 10.5.8 the printer is recognised as being part of the network, but I can't actually use it. I need to spend time looking at that when I can. Maybe your network hint will work there.

  • Connecting two printers wirelessly to Airport network?

    Hi,
I currently have a working wireless network with the Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router BEFW11S4 - which I believe is 802.11b - that connects 2-4 laptops at any point in time.
I just purchased the new Airport Extreme 54 mbp Base Station. I would like to
    1. Set up the Airport network.
    2. Put our two printers on the network and print wirelessly.
The printers are on are far away (1st floor) from the cable internet access point (2nd floor) so USB connection is not an option.
    I have two questions:
    1. Would it be better/simpler to purchase a print server to connect to my Airport network and make the two printers available for wireless printing?
    2. Is it possible to connect ("bridge") the two wireless routers and then place one router close to the printers and connect via USB. If yes, should the configuration be Airport to Linksys or Linksys to Airport?
If there are any more simple/smart solutions than the options I came up with - they will be much appreciated. Thanks for reading this long question!

MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Complex question that I don't think I can answer all of...
Airport Extreme Base Station - can connect only one USB printer - no hub permitted.
Print Servers (other than Extreme/Express) - work great for postscript printers, but are problematic with non-postscript printers. Printing to print servers uses "standard" protocols. In OS X, the "standard" protocols are provided by CUPS, so they need cups-capable drivers on OS X. Brother is the Only non-postscript printer manufacturer so far to provide CUPS drivers. Many non-postscript printers can be made to work with third-party drivers (Gimp-Print is one of these), but most people are unsatisfied with print quality (if you want to print photos for example).
I think wireless bridging will work with the Airport BS in the "receiving side" only -- but I haven't tried that.
For more help on the printers/network printing, need to know the printer models.
    Hope this gets you started.

HI , Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I see that you're wondering how to setup the USB connection and Wireless at the same time on your HP Officejet 8600 Printer. I would like to help.  Your printer is capable of being connected USB on one computer and Wireless to other devices. To setup the USB Connection: IMPORTANT: Unplug the USB cable from your computer, if already connected. Make sure your HP printer software is installed on your computer. If your HP printer software is installed, use Start -> Programs -> HP -> -> Printer Setup & Software -> Connect a new printer ->Select USB-  Connect the printer to this computer using the USB cable. If your HP printer software is not installed on your PC, insert the printer software CD into your computer. If you don't have the CD, you can download software from HP Consumer Support.Select USB-  Connect the printer to this computer using the USB cable from Printer Setup & Software or from the Welcome Back screen from the CD.Carefully follow the instructions on the software screens. If you see a software screen prompt instructing you to connect the USB cable and the cable is already connected, check the checkbox which says “the USB cable is already connected” and then continue.Note: The printer can be connected by a USB cable to a computer and also be connected to a wireless network. Both USB and wireless connections can be active and used at the same time. At the end of the install process, you will see 'Set as default printer', make sure this is checked so that the USB connection is the default printer. If you wish to remove the wireless printer from your computer, go to Devices and Printers from Start Menu- right click on the wireless printer and choose delete/remove/uninstall.Hope this answers your question. Thank you for posting!

  • How do I connect a MacPro without an airport card to my wireless network

I have a MacPro that does not have an airport card. I have a Verizon FIOS wireless router. I connected my time capsule to the router with an Ethernet cable and my MacBook Pro has no problem connecting to the network. I placed my airport extreme upstairs in my office and joined the wireless network. I connected my MacPro to the airport extreme with an Ethernet cable but I cannot get on the Internet. It says the Ethernet has a self assigned IP and cannot connect to the Internet . What am I doing wrong?

    KT4ever.
To add to what Bob said, I've drawn out (on a sheet of paper) what you have described in your initial post, it seems you have an Airport Extreme 'connected wirelessly' to the Verizon wifi router? is that correct?
IF so, your Mac Pro's network settings should be set to DHCP via ethernet? I'm presuming that you can connect your Macbook pro to the Verizon Wifi using a local DHCP IP address automatic network settings right ?
Providing you can see the Airport Extreme 'upstairs' your Mac Pro should connect in exactly the same manner.
Does your Mac Pro have a valid IP address ?
If you can't get the Airport Express to 'connect/talk' to your wireless router, I would ask if you're using WPA/WPA2 secured network keys or an Open unsecured Network? the airport express probably wants the Wifi Key to 'handshake' with the wifi router you have.
    http://store.apple.com/us/questions/product/MC340LL/A?aid=www-naus-qa-airportext reme-aos00001&cp=qa-airportextreme-aos00001 - this may help.
If all the above are correct, you should be able to go into finder and 'see' the Airport Extreme And TimeCapsule, and laptop (if u have it connected), as well as your Mac Pro- if it all works right and sharing is turned on those devices.
First start by trying go into Aiport Utility in Applications > Utilities (or via finder) and see if the util can see your airport Extreme - using ur laptop ideally ) and try and get your Wireless extended.

  • Connecting two computers, wirelessly, using Airport?

I have a IMac intel and a PowerBook G4 - 400 Ti. They both have Airport cards. I understand that they will "talk" to each other with out benefit of a router. I would like to know how I can set this up. I have gone through the setup procedures endlessly and, although I did manage to get the IMac to see the PB once, and I don't know how it happened, I have not been able to do it again. There was an icon on my IMac desktop that I could drag stuff to and it would transfer. I'm quite confident its a simple procedure that I, in my stupidity, cannot fathom. When I try to set up a network I get an error message saying : "There was an error joining the Airport Network". Could it be a "slave/master" relationship between the two computers? With a proper setup will the flow of info be two way or one way? Are the two computers or systems incompatible? You help will be deeply appreciated!

To my knowledge the information you heard is not
    correct.

Any computer that has an Airport Card, or Wireless
Card (PC) will recognise any network that they are in
range of by and with the use of a ROUTER, thus
    completeing the 2 way communication.
There are several different ways to connect and
confiqure a network, these different ways can be and
can get confusing without the paperwork on the step
    by step set-up.

Actually none of the Airport cards require a Wireless base station (acting as a router/access point) to work. Airport supports ad-hoc wireless mode (computer-to-computer mode, in Apple lingo), which allows two or more wireless-enabled computers to be connected to each other WITHOUT the use of base station. Search for "computer-to-computer" in the support knowledge base.

Is it possible to speak on the phone?  The situation is so convoluted it might be easier to help me get back on track in person. When I first had this issue I got on an apple site that had a chat room in which I typed in my problem.  After several missives back and forth, the apple technician asked for my number and we spoke on the phone. The technician walked me through rebooting the actual airport plug (as opposed to the router box) and got me up and running. Do you know how I can relocate that chat site for technical support?
    Thanks

  • How can I add a client wireless usig Airport Utility 6.0?

In menu airport of firmware 6.0 there is not window "Add a wireless client". I'm using Mac Os lion with Airport Utility6.0, how can I add a client wireless with this firmware)?

If you have a dual band AirPort Extreme, you can add another to "extend" both bands of your network to provide more  wireless coverage.
The "best" way to do this is to connect the "remote" access point back to your main AirPort Extreme using an Ethernet connection. This preserves bandwidth on the network better than any other method...and...you can locate the "remote" Extreme exactly in the area where more coverage is needed. Instructions for thhis are here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4260
You might be able to connect using wireless only, but this is always "Iffy".
In general, the Extreme would need to be located approximately half the distance from your main router to the general area that needs more coverage. But, walls, ceilings and other obstructions usually come into play, requiring some experimentation. Instructions are here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4259
If you elect to try wireless, you really won't know if things will work until you try. Recommend that you have a "Plan B" if wireless does not work for your purpose.

  • How can I connect my Apple TV and Airport Express to the rest of the network for the least lag?

    Hey guys,
I have an Airport network here in the office.  All new Airport Extremes.  The internet comes into one, which then connects to our switches, which then connects to other Airport Extremes over ethernet.  Everything is setup to create its own network with the same SSID, and only the leader is the DHCP server.
I recently added an Apple TV to the network, only it was too laggy for video chat.  I bought an Airport Express (for the audio), and ran ethernet to connect it to the network and the Apple TV, but things were still slow.
Now, I set the Airport Express up as a DHCP server (with NAT) itself, with a separate SSID, and it's working great.  The only problem is that people would rather not have to switch wifi networks.  Is there any way around this?  BTW, the AirEx is complaining about Double NAT, which I understand is happening, but it's still working fine... it's really just the having to switch networks that's a problem for us.
    Thanks!

Hi - as you probably know, double NAT is not recommended - you might have problems with some websites and updating - but if it is working that is great - as far as the Wi-Fi issue is concerned, you should still be able to create a wireless network with the same name an password as the rest of your network so no one has to switch.

  • Will a desktop connected to a wireless router via network cable be able to use a wireless printer?

My computer is a Dell runing XP home edition. This computer is connected via a network cable to the wireless router.
My deskjet 4580 printer is connected to the wireless router network and printing and scanning via wireless network with a laptop that is connected to the network wireless.
Now I want to print and scan using the desktop computer also. Should I install the wireless driver for the printer? Do I need to connect the printer with USB cable with my desktop computer?
Please help.  I do not want to disturb the laptop that can print and scan wirelessly with the printer.
    Thanks.

if the printer is connected to the router wired, then the router is the hub, so you should just need to install the driver for the printer in the machine that is not working.
If you install the full feature driver to the printer on the computer you want to print via wired to the router to the printer that should work. Run this too:

  • Connecting Windows Mobile 5 to Airport Network

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to do it? I have a windows mobile 5 PDA, which I am trying to connect to my home Airport Network(it is running on WPA2 Personal Security). I have spent many hours trying to configure it without any luck. I am totally stuck with configurations and security settings for the Win 5.0 device... if only windows was OS was made by Apple!
    PB g4 15''   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

    Hi craiglud,
Thanks for your suggestion. I have not even got to that stage yet I am afraid.
When I am trying to connect to my Airport network – I get a message (on my PDA) “please enter the network key” however, when I am trying to enter a password which I set up for my home network – it does not eat it – says incorrect. I set it up with a password not with a hexadecimal key, it says on my Apple Airport Config utility that the hexadecimal key has to be 64 characters long, however, the PDA says it cannot be that long.
Can you tell me which settings did you enter for your Win Mobile device? Especially in the “Configure Network Authentication” panel there are several lines: “Authentication”, “Data Encryption”, and then the “key is automatically provided”.
What really annoys me is that my PDA (iPAQ) came without any information on how to configure the wireless network!
Thanks in advance – and I am glad it is working with you!
If I ever manage to set it up I am going to post a HOWTO so that others can work through it.
