How do I connect a Windows 8.1 tablet to a new Macbook Pro?
I am going to be purchasing a new Macbook Pro soon. In addition, I'll probably purchase a new Windows 8.1 tablet to replace my aging iPad 2. How can I connect the Windows tablet to the new Macbook Pro so I can add/remove data & movies?
Thanks to everyone for this help on this; I appreciate it.Windows 8.1 is designed as a desktop operating system, so it doesn't need to be connected to any PC and you won't be able to connect it to your MacBook Pro because it hasn't got any port to do it.
Instead, what you can do is to install iTunes on the tablet and access to all your content purchased from the iTunes Store by using your Apple ID, or transfer your songs by using Home Sharing > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3819 -

I want to be able to control the mac mini wirelessly from my laptop, as the mac mini is going to essentially run my home theatre.
Thanks in advance

How do I connect my iPhone 5 [RUNNING ON 8.1.3] to my Macbook Pro [Yosemite 10.10.2] through bluetooth?
MBP Specs
Thanks,
KevinAn iPhone will not pair via Bluetooth to a computer (Mac or Windows) except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7722
If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. The following may help with Handoff/Continuity issues: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5458 -
How can I connect my svideo output from my camcorder to my Macbook pro retina?
How cn I connect the s video output from my camcorder to my 13" macbook pro retina?
Buy a video to USB converter.
Buy a more expensive video to Firewire converter (it may give better quality).
Find an older mini DV camera with 'video in' to make transfers to tape to capture from. -
How do I connect 2 external monitors with full HD to my MacBook Pro?
I would like to connect up my 2 external monitors to my MacBook Pro. But I want to have full HD resolution. I want to have the desktop stretched so I don't want mirror displays. What is the best way to accomplish this? Is there an adapter that I should use?
Thanks for the reply. Haven't gotten anything as yet. Just that I burned out my older PowerBook using it as a primary screen w/ a secondary 20" monitor. Would be nice if the MacBooks could be used as a CPU only, connect 2 different monitors, and use the LCD screen when portability is needed. But I suppose that is why Apple makes different types of computers. I know I can rig the video SCSI cable to bypass to LCD screen and use the other built-in monitor. But there goes the warentee and any kind of AppleCare... not that I have ever used it, (until a day after it has expired!)
But thanks for the feedback. Your reply is what I expected. Being that I am a mercenary graphic designer and need to be able to work whenever, and where-ever I need to, the MacPro is not my hardware of choice. As well, I don't have $4000 in my budget. But man do those machines rock! Just think of what NASA could have done with one of those in 1969 when we were going to the moon! But now that the U.S. has decided that manned space travel and even scientific space exploration is not worthy of having a budget, the MacPros are religated to creating new episodes of Jersey Shores!
Thanks again for your feedback! -
How can I connect a sony vaio CD-ROM drive to my macbook pro
I have a Sony VAIO CD-ROM Drive Model PCGA-CD5 (PCG-CIX) and a 3.5" Sony floppy disk drive model PCGA-UFD1 that I would like to use with my MacBook Pro, any ideas as to how or where I can get an adapter?
That's a proprietary interface.
Odds are there is no adapter. Ask Sony. -
Japan bought Macbook Pro Core Duo, Vista WiFi won't connect
I haven't used Boot Camp since beta 1.0 because I couldn't get the WiFi to work with the Japanese AirMac (airport) card that came with the Macbook Pro I bought while living in Japan. I figured the driver issues would be solved by the time Leopard released the full Boot Camp so I installed it and Vista. Well my wifi detects my home network but keeps telling me by passkey is incorrect (although I know it isn't) and it won't connect. Is this still a driver issue with the Japanese airmac and the US leopard I bought? Or am I missing something?
Just tried to no avail. I also connected it via ethernet cable with no luck. It wont even connect when hardwired that way. I think it was something with the AirPort Utility 6.0 that just got updated on 2/26. This issue has been happening since then the following items are showing as installed on 2/26:
MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.7
AirPort Utility 6.0
HP Printer Software Update 2.8
Mac OS X Update Combined 10.7.3
That is when everything went downhill. I think it has to related to one of the updates listed above. -
Have Apple Mac put something in their computers to stop me connecting my AOC N19WB monitor to my Mac Book? (Thats silly of course not!) because their own monitors are on average around £ 800.00 each and people like me have to save a long time just to buy the MacBook and cant afford a Mac monotor as well (not for a long time anyway). Please Apple i only bought this brand new Mac Book 13 (OSX Mountain Lion) because i want to run Logic 9 without problems. If i cant even get it to work with my monitor it doesnt instill me with confidence.
Anyway guys, I have bought the right lead followed all the instructions but when i get to 'dispay' via preferences i dont see the same window that i am looking at on a range of forums and/or utube demonstrations. My window shows 2 options - 'Colour and 'Display'. All others that i have seen in addition show 'Arrangements'. Which i guess is the one that gives you the options as to which extenal monitor you wish to use. Other people have said that you just plug it in and the MacBook finds it for you (not on this machine)! Monitor just displays 'NO SIGNAL' and MaBook 'NO DEVICE DETECTED'.
Please is there any advise out there for me?
Yours Desperately
GrahamHi, your post has been more helpful to me than Telstra's tech. support.
I have installed the generic manager and my 885 modem is now recognised and it appears to connect however there are no ip addresses listed under network preferences. You mention a driver. Is this something else I need to install? Do you have a link? Do I need to manually enter network settings? I should add that I am using Lion 10.7.3 Many thanks for your time -
Currently I am using two thunderbolt to DVI connectors for the dual monitors, but I am left without any firewire cable connection for my audio interface. THe only adaptor I found was another thunderbolt to firewire, but since I already used these two ports, I am left with no options. I haven't been able to find any usb to firewire cable connections.
Are there any other adapators/ports I can use that I am not aware of?Something like this at US$300:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/HB865ZM/A/belkin-thunderbolt-express-dock?fnod e=58
Highlights
One cable output provides instant access to eight ports
Ability to daisy-chain up to five additional Thunderbolt devices
Includes Cable-management channel
One Gigabit Ethernet port
One FireWire 800 port
One Thunderbolt port
One 3.5 mm headphone output Jack
One 3.5 mm audio Input Jack
Three USB 3.0 ports*

How do I use a NORMAL headset (dual 3.5mm) on my new Macbook pro retina? No usb ports available and headset buddy adapter doesn't work.Hi Auracles1,
Here's a pretty discussion regarding wireless printing with this device and a Mac.
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-networking-and-wireless/HP-Officejet-6500-E 709n-wireless-issue/m-p/258853
I have a similar OfficeJet and it was a multi-step process. (1) Install printer drivers on the machine, (2) Add the printer queue in print & fax, (3) Run the "setup wizard" from the disc for wireless printing. -
I am new to iMovies. When I make a video using the mic and camera in my Macbook Pro, the audio and video are not in synch. Very annoying. How can I fix this?
DVD drives read the bottom of the disk, not the top. Smooth out the paper & try again.

How do I use AirPort Extreme to be able print from my MacBook Pro AND a PC. If I connect printer into AirPort, I can only print on laptop. If printer is connected to PC hard drive, I can only print on desk top. How do I configure this to make both print?
If you have not already done so, your chances will really improve if you....
1) Connect the printer to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme
2) Download and install Bonjour Print Services for Windows on the PC -
Can anyone tell me why I can not connect my Blackberry or my iPhone to my new Macbook pro? I had no problem with my old Macbook.
What type of headphones were you using? I have a set of Microssft headsets, with the built-in mic and connected via USB, and have no problems.
