How do I connect my Homehub3 to the NTA5 ADSL Wall...

Hi, all.
I have a Homehub 3 in a spare room, and want to move it to improve my wireless coverage, at home.
I have space in my hallway next to where the ADSL comes into the house, and this would seem like a neat solution. Currently I have an 'ADSL Data Extension Kit' running upstairs to the spare room, and then a small blue cable from this into the ADSL port on my hub.
The NTE5 2 port wall socket that I have (says Openreach ADSL v1.0 on the front), has a left port for ADSL and the right for telephone. I need to connect this to my Homehub, ideally with a really short cable, as the Hub will be located literally six inches from the wall socket. Does anyone know which cable I need, and where I can buy one (eBay/ Amazon?)? My limited research suggsts the ADSL port will accept an RJ45 or RJ11 cable.
Some thoughts:
1) I just have 'normal' speed broadband, so assume I can't run a cable from the wall socket to the 'BT Infinity' port on the router.
2) Typically the twin power socket that will feed the Hub, is almost level with the hall floor, and the BT power plug has the 3 pins at the top, not the bottom, so it is physically impossible to plug the power socket in. My initial thought is to get a short trailing socket, to get around this problem. Does anyone know of an alternative power adaptor that I could use with the Hub, which has a better thought out (or different) design?
Many thanks for your anticipated help.
Chris.

Hi there,
What you need is an RJ11 to RJ11 lead, but be careful of the cheap ones; invariably, even at the length you require, they're very poor quality.
If you go to that famous auction site and enter 261296967817 into the search bar, this will give you a good quality lead. Although the one I've indicated is 1m in length, if you email the seller, there's a fairly good possibility he can make you one in the length you require.
I hope this info helps.

  • How do I connect my Centro to the Internet via bluetooth over PC's Internet? Where is Centro's PPP Connection Type? How do I setup Login Script for bluetooth connection?

I am trying to set up bluetooth on the Centro to connect to the internet via my PC's internet.
    HotSync over bluetooth works successfully.
Computer specs: Toshiba P205-S6277; Bluetooth Stack v5.10.04 (currently using); Bluetooth Monitor v3.01 (to use Vista's built-in bluetooth)
I think I have narrowed my problem down to 3 things.
    (1) Finding Network Access properties (to allow connected devices to access the internet)
    (2) Finding Centro's Network Connection Type: PPP
    (3) Finding the correct Login Script to use
for (1) I think I've looked everywhere; found nothing on Network Access.
Checked control panel: only Bluetooth Local COM
Right-clicked bluetooth icon > Settings: File transfer, PAN Networking, PAN DHCP server, AV controls. Other bluetooth settings are for file transfer or object push. I don't see anything like this.
I'm stumped on (2). It seems as if palm removed this option under Centro's Advanced network settings .
Nearly all the forums that I read says to choose Connection Type: PPP.
    (3) Found 2 scripts that seemed would work. I don't know how it exactly works but it sounds workable.
    First script:
    Send: CLIENT
    Send: CLIENT
    Wait for: CLIENTSERVER
    End:
    Script 1 Connect Log:
    =======================================
    Connect Log
    S: client
    S: client
    R:
    Err: 0x121F   <<<netErrUserCancel b/c I canceled it.
    Not connected
    ========================================
I canceled it because the process would stay on "Signing In" then it automatically "Canceled" itself.
    Second script:
    Send CR:
    Delay: 1
    Send: CLIENT
    Wait For: CLIENTSERVER
    End
**UPDATE** I found on this forum (Reply # 3689) that the script is needed only if you are using Palm OS 4 or under. Centro uses Palm OS 5.49121. Can anyone support this?
Even without the script it has problems "Signing In".
I'm currently reading this site and trying out its decribed methods. I will update this thread when I get the results.
I'm using the Centro. And If anyone's been able to successfully connect to the internet on the Centro via a bluetooth connection to the PC WITHOUT 3rd party applications, please share.  If not, please share any ideas.
    Thanks!

I've been going at this for days, and have probably exhausted all the proposed solutions on the first 3 pages of various google searches. I'm getting the feeling that Vista users are pretty much SOL for the time being.
For the record, I just tried out a few of the solutions (mRouter & SoftickPPP) on XP and they work perfectly.

  • How can i connect home sharing and the control app with 2 IP addresses?

i am using my macbook pro at school and i also take it back home, and when i'm home the home sharing with my iPhone 5's Remote app works perfectly fine, just that when i'm back to res at school it doesn't work for some unknown reason. i've checked everything including the firewall and stuff and itunes home sharing is turned on, i even tried using another home sharing apple id but it still doesn't work. somebody please help!!!
    thanks!

If you use eithernet for your main connection then just plug the TC bridged into the network.
If you use wireless for your internet connection then you can use the TC isolated from the network by ethernet.. but this is really only convenient on a desktop Mac.
The instructions I put in this thread with screenshots.. see near the bottom.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4817218?tstart=30
It is a bit tricky so if you have questions ask back here.
Just to say a USB for firewire external drive is faster and more reliable than a TC.. cheaper to buy as well.. although since you already have the TC that is not a concern.. but you can ebay the TC and buy a bigger and better external drive with the proceeds.

  • How can I connect two PS3 to the same Linksys WRT54G correctly

    Hi,
i'm trying to connect two PS3 to the same routeur without having conflicts. Everytime i try to update my game softwares it tells me error 80710723 or now 8002AD23. I gave the two PS3 different IP adresses, i opened all the ports that Playstation suggested me to open (http://playstation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/241) and gave them different DNS adresses but still they cannot download any software content without bugging the console. I also use a PC, Tablet and Phone with my wireless connection.
    thank you
    -François

Well in this case the error code (80710723 ) is generated when the internet connection is slow. So you can try the following step:
    # Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page.
    # Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
    # Make the Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
#Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
~~ Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 75
~~ Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
~~ Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304

  • How can I connect my G5 iMac to Telefonica ADSL?

I just moved to Spain. The ADSL connection offered by telefonica seems to be set up with just PCs in mind. I do not know how I can connect my iMAc and my extreme Airport Base Station to that ADSL system. Do I need any special configuration in the Base Station? The ADSL comes with an inalambric Router.
    Many thanks for any help.

    Hola,
Just to say I spend a fair bit of time in my house on Costa Brava. I take my Apple PB and wife's Acer Laptop each time we go out.
I have DSL from Telefonica and it is the WiFi version modem all in one job.
I did not set up with a AEBS or a Netgear job because we rent out for the hottest part of the year and I know they would get damaged, hence the Telefonica modem.
What I suggest you do is got to Telefonicas website where you will find the English option. There you will find the company that provides manuals for their modems in english. Telefonica does have and should have sent you details of your password etc when you got connected. If they povided the modem it would have been set up prior to delivery to you. What I suggest is that you connect your AEBS to the modem and use it that way.
    Go here:
    http://www.telefonicainenglish.com/
    http://www.telefonicaonline.com/on/pub/servicios/onTOEntrada/1,,vsegmentoEMPR+v_idioma+es+ambitoAcceso+pub+entradaurladsl,00.html?servicio=entrada&entrada=urladsl&urlcentral=/on/es/micro/adsl/ayudainst/index.htm
I am going to take a new Belkin which is surplus to my requirements down and set it up because it is all in English, mainly for the WiFi side of things. Once set up I will copy back to Xavi 7768 and see how it goes.
What model of Inalámbrico do you have?
Oh, I the forgot to say that when I first connected to modem via ethernet both laptops worked perfectly. Also one thing I place at the top of my list is that as the weather is so much better out there I spend as little time as I can on the computer. So we leave them on and connected by cable and only check when a mail arrives, that is of course if we are in earshot and not in the pool or relaxing elsewhere.
    Cheers

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks!

1st you need to set a Static IP on the Home machine you wish to connect to...
    http://portforward.com/networking/static-Mac10.4.htm
Then you need to Forward the Ports for the Services you want to use...
    http://www.portforward.com/help/pfprogression.htm
    Then find Home's "Outside" IP...

  • How do I connect two VMs in the same cloud service?

I want to setup a DB cluster with two VMs in a single cloud service. My DB (Couchbase) requires being able to reference the other nodes by IP address or hostname. Since VMs change their IP everytime they restart I can't use that, and as far as I can tell
hostname is the same for both VMs in a cloud service. But the Azure docs mention Azure provided name resolution (here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/jj156088.aspx). I can't find any information on how this service works, or how I find the permanent
hostnames it assigns to my VMs within a cloud service. Is there anyway to find one VM from another within a cloud service that persists across restarts?

    Hi CanuckAlex;
    Thank you for your post.
Virtual machines must be in a cloud service, which acts as a container and provides a unique public DNS name, a public IP address, and a set of endpoints to access the virtual machine over the Internet. The cloud service can optionally be in a virtual network.
If a cloud service is not in a virtual network, the virtual machines in that cloud service can only communicate with other virtual machines through the use of the other virtual machines’ public DNS names, and that traffic would travel over the Internet.
If a cloud service is in a virtual network, the virtual machines in that cloud service can communicate with all other virtual machines in the virtual network without sending any traffic over the Internet.
If you place your virtual machines in the same standalone cloud service, you can take advantage of load balancing and availability sets. For details, see
    Load balancing virtual machines and
Manage the availability of virtual machines. However, you cannot organize the virtual machines on subnets or connect a standalone cloud service to your on-premises network. Here is an example.
If you place your virtual machines in a virtual network, you can decide how many cloud services you want to use to take advantage of load balancing and availability sets. Additionally, you can organize the virtual machines on subnets in the same way as your
on-premises network and connect the virtual network to your on-premises network. Here is an example.
Virtual networks are the recommended way to connect virtual machines in Azure. The best practice is to configure each tier of your application in a separate cloud service. This enables advanced user rights delegation through Role Based Access Control (RBAC).
    For more information, see
Role Based Access Control in Azure Preview Portal. However, you may need to combine some virtual machines from different application tiers into the same cloud service to remain within the maximum of 200 cloud services per subscription.
To connect virtual machines in a virtual network:
Create the virtual network in the Azure Management Portal. For more information, see
    Virtual Network Configuration Tasks.
Create the set of cloud services for your deployment in the Azure Management Portal to reflect your design for availability sets and load balancing with
New > Compute > Cloud Service > Custom Create.
When you create each new virtual machine, specify the correct cloud service and your virtual network. If the cloud service has been previously associated with your virtual network, its name will already be selected for you.
Here is an example using the Azure Management Portal.
To connect virtual machines in a standalone cloud service:
Create the cloud service for your deployment in the Azure Management Portal with
New > Compute > Cloud Service > Custom Create.
When you create the virtual machine, specify the name of cloud service created in step 1. Alternately, you can create the cloud service for your deployment when you create your first virtual machine.
Here is an example using the Azure Management Portal for the existing cloud service named EndpointTest.
PS: One can assign static IP address to VM on Azure, You could refer to this
    link here.
    Hope this helps.
    Warm Regards;

When I went back to the Firewall control under Security, File Sharing (SMB) was listed as having access. Seems to work now.
