I believe we have the same model of iMac (late 2009) in which unfortunately Apple did not provide audio signals in the mini-DisplayPort out port. This Kanex adapter will pick up your audio as well as the DisplayPort signal and combine them in an HDMI signal that you plug into the Samsung HDTV. -

Do you have a wi-fi network in your home ? If you do then you should be able to connect your phone to it via Settings > Wi-Fi on your phone - that should show any networks that are available, and tapping on the network that you want to use (and typing in its password if it's password protected) should connect the phone to it. If you don't have a wi-fi network then yes, you will need wifi router in your home, which is connected to the internet (e.g. via your phone line) to be able to back up your phone to iCloud.

However, I initially downloaded the CS5 suite digitally and I can't find out how I am able to perform a fresh install of InDesign. System Preferences > Network > Ethernet? If that shows "not connected" that is all your Mac knows. As far as it is concerned there is no cable connected to the port on your Mac, or the other end of the cable is either disconnected or connected to something that is broken.
Try another cable. If the cable is broken you will also get that status message. If you have exhausted all of these possibilities, the only remaining cause is an inoperative port on your Mac. -
