How do I control window size in InDesign when I open the first file after starting up?
The first document always takes up my entire computer screen. I resize everything and then subsequent documents open to the resized size. But how can I avoid having to resize the first document to begin with? It's getting annoying.
Bob is correct. Window > Application Frame. Resize it the way you like and it stays that way.

I installed Adobe Web and Design Preium CS6 on windows 8.1, but when I open the program the size of the menus and tools are so tiny. It is not like that for Acrobat, but all the other programs. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks for the help. I installed CC and it fixed everything but Photoshop. I guess I will have to use my old laptop for images until Adobe fixes the problem. Do you know of a place where we can send issues like these to Adobe?

When I open a pdf file, after a few seconds, it hides the toolbar and I don't know how to get it back. I use multiple monitors and, without being able to grab the toolbar, I am unable to move the pdf file to a different monitor. How do I stop this?
Does Firefox switch to full screen if you press F11 ?
You can also try the F10 key to see if that brings up the menu bar.

I have a 2007 iMac with version 10.6.8 and 4GB of expanded memory. When downloading "some" emailed documents, the downloaded file becomes a "zip file," which when opened looks like a coded message. How can I open the "zip file" so that it produces a legible document? Please, help!! thank you!!!
A "zip file" is a compressed file. "Zipping" in principle does not and cannot change the contents. So that if the contents before zipping are garbage, or unreadable on a Mac, when you expand the file you will get garbage or an unreadable file.
The first thing to verify therefore is whether the file, before it was zipped, was in a "Mac friendly" format. Can you do that?
You do not need an App to zip or unzip. These functions are built in on our Macs.
And yes, zipping and unzipping using the built in functionality, work fine in OS 10.6.8. And 10.7 and 10.8 and 10.9. -
I followed your advice to have Firefox open in Touch mode with a tile in Metro mode. However, when I click on the three lines (menu) it does not have the option of choosing Windows 8 Touch. I can only open Nightly in desktop mode and I'd rather have it as part of my tiles. Can you suggest another way to convert it to Metro?

Unfortunately I do not have a device to test this out on. They did stop development of Firefox for Metro back in March.

How do I stop Dreamweaver from updating the Test server copy of a file when I open the local file?
The subject says it all. Every time I open a file, Dreamweaver connects to the testing server and uploads the local file to the test server.
I want to stop this behaviour. It's annoying!My testing server is IIS running on my local machine.
The "local" copy of the file is actually on a remote share. I have the test server copy open in Notepad++. The two files are identical save for on extra line in the copy on the testing server. When I open the "local" copy in Dreamweaver, it shows me that some file activity is being done, and then Notepad++ tells me the file has changed and do I want to reload it. If I do, that extra line vanishes.
When I check the file activity log, it shows that the file activity is complete.
I haven't mentioned the production server because it doesn't seem to be affected, but we do have one. -
I click on the download button on the Firefox website and it processes as if it is downloading. Once it is finished processing, I'm unable to find the file to install it with the install wizard. I tried it by both running and saving the file. In both cases, the file just vanishes.

I resize my pages often but I don't want to always keep them at random sizes. I want to know the proper method to reset the webpage size back to it default size. Right now it's too wide, and I click the green plus button in the upper left corner and it goes down to a very small size, I click the green plus again and it returns to the Too Wide size. I just can't seem to get it to go back to the default size.

How to fix TextEdit window size & location upon open it?
I'm wondering if I can fix TextEdit's window size and its location upon opening a file?
I prefer opening my TextEdit at certain size (LxW) and would like it to stay align either on right or left of the screen edge.
Can I do that? Please help.I don't know that you can do that. I've not found a way for newly created documents.
Note if you disable System Preferences->General->Close windows when quitting an app, then upon restart of TextEdit, all windows will be exactly where you left them. -

You can do it manually, but it is much simpler if you use a tool such as Back To My Mac, LogMeIn, or something like that. Those programs enable you to connect to your computer through your router without you having to adjust the router settings manually.
