How do I convert 1080i 25fps to 720p 50fps

Hi. Most of my footage is 720p 50fps. However, a small portion of the job is 1080i 25fps. I was thinking to convert the 1080i footage in media encoder(h.264) 720p 50fps. Just so I can import all the footage into the same timeline. I thought I would make it to what most of the video looks like? Is there a better way of doing this?

You do not need to transcode the 1080 footage first. You can simply add it to the 720 sequence. Then right-click the 1080 clips in the Timeline and select Scale to Frame Size--or, if you have the current version, which is 7.2.2, the new Set to Frame Size option.

  • How do I convert a 25fps shot film into a 1920x1080px@50fps quicktime/photojpeg or h.264

    Hello,
    I shot a film with a canon 5d mark II (25fps) and cut it on Final Cut Pro. Now I've been told, they need 920x1080px@50fps as quicktime/photojpeg or h.264 with high Bitrate. How do I convert my video into that using either Final Cut or Compressor or both?
    Thanks

    In the Compressor Inspector, in the Video tab, under Video Properties, you can change the size. There is a Change QuickTime Settings button where you can change frame rate.

  • Converting 1080i to 720p

    I have a Nikon D90 that shoots in 720p at 24fps and I just purchased a Canon HF-11 that shoots in 1080i which also has a 24fps selection. Can I use Mpeg Streamclip to downscale (not sure if that's the correct terminology) the 1080i footage to 720p? I would like to make a video in 720p in FCE but I'm not sure if I'm degrading the 1080i footage too much or if I'm going to run into some kind of problems later on when burning to DVD.
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Well, there are multiple issues here.
    One, you can use MPEG Streamclip to convert the video to *Apple Intermediate Codec* for editing in FCE. But don't expect miracles. Your D90 stores video as *Motion JPEG,* which is obsolete vis-a-vis today's video standards. You will notice the quality difference compared to your HF-11.
    Two, FCE only supports 720p30, so that is another issue you will have to deal with.
    Three, you could use Graeme Nattress's Standards Conversion plugins to deal with 3:2 pulldown. I'm not completely sure it works with FCE, so you should contact Graeme to verify before purchasing the plugin.
    Four, your HF-11 is an AVCHD camcorder, and I would not recommend mixing 1080 and 720 video in the same sequence. Even after going through the conversion hoops, you will see a difference.
    Five, in order to create a hidef DVD you will have to purchase Toast and a Blu-Ray burner. Regular DVDs are all standard def; you can give iDVD hidef source material but you will still get a standard def DVD 'cause that's what they are.

  • How do I convert from PAL to NTSC in compressor?

    I have a project I converted from mp4 file to Apple Pro Res to edit it in FCP.  I exported using Compressor and tried to import the files to DVD Studio Pro.  It said it can't put PAL files into an NTSC project.  I didn't even realize it was filmed in PAL (yes, I have the rights to use the footage).  How do I convert the files from PAL to put it into FCP...in Compressor?  If so, how?  Thanks for any help!

    To  convert the 25fps PAL file to a 29.97fps file staying within the ProRes codec:
    • Open up compressor. In the Settings window select: Apple>Formats>Quicktime>ProRes 422
    • Select the "Duplicate Selected Setting" icon in the upper left of the Settings window
    • This creates duplicate of the preset that you can edit
    • Select the preset copy and, in Inspector, give it a new name (something like ProRes PAL>NTSC)
    • In Encoder>Video Settings>Frame rate - and change the frame rate to 29.97
    • In Frame Controls> turn them on and set Resize Filter and Rate Conversion to BETTER.  (If so set them to BEST, be prepared for a long wait)
    • In the Geometry tab, set the Frame Size to 720x480 (you don't say if the file is 16:9 or 4:3)
    • Submit the file and go have dinner. Depending on the length of the file, it may take hours.
    Have fun.

  • I have videos stored on an external hard drive. How do i convert them to use in iMovie?

    I have videos stored on an external hard drive. How do i convert them to use in iMovie?

    Well you first determine the file types iMovie can import, then you determine the file types of the movies themselves and look for the best format to change copies of them into so they can be imported into iMovie.
    Once you have determined the best video format for your needs and that iMove accepts, you'll have to find software to convert one format into another.
    I'm lazy, so I use my 17" HD 1080i screen to playback the video in it's native format and use SnapZ Pro X to screen record that into Quicktime format that iMovie certainly accepts.
    Not everyone has a 17" 1080i HD screen nor the money to buy SnapZ Pro X though.

  • How do you convert PAL audio to NTSC?

    I have converted a PAL video to NTSC but the audio was mixed separately and so it's still set at 25fps and hence becomes out of sync when I lay it against the video track.
    So how do I convert the separate audio.aiff files from 25fps to 30fps?
    Thx
    Kevin

    I think you are barking up the wrong tree...
    Let's say you have a 10 second clip of PAL material:
    10 seconds x 25 fps = 250 frames
    If properly converted to NTSC:
    10 seconds x 30 fps = 300 frames
    The only difference is the number of frames, NOT THE LENGTH OF THE CLIP! It is still 10 seconds long.
    10 seconds of audio x 44.1 kHz = 441 thousand samples
    or
    10 seconds of audio x 48 kHz = 480 thousand samples
    or
    10 seconds of audio at 22.05 kHz = 220.5 thousand samples
    The only difference is the number of samples. NOT THE LENGTH OF THE AUDIO. It is still 10 seconds long.
    If you have drift, then there is something wrong in your conversion. You can't take a 25 fps clip, tell it to play at 30 fps and expect it to be the same length. There are multi-thousand $$$ transcoders that do that job.
    HTH,

  • Edit 720p 50fps on a 1080p 25fps project problem.

    I have an FCP project where most of the footage is 1080p 25fps, but we have some footage that we shot at 720p 50fps, so we can use the slow motion.
    Project is 1080p 25fps. All files are in ProRes 422 LT each with its own resolution and framerate, when I put the 720 footage into the timeline, FCP will zoom to fit the window automatically, that's fine, but it will play it at 100% speed, no slow motion. If I reduce the speed to 50%, it does not use all the frames but just one picture per two frames, as if the footage was 1080... so it does not look good at all, just a slowed down clip.
    Not sure if I explained it properly, the question is, how can I use the 720p 50 fps footage in a 1080p 25fps project as slow motion?
    Thanks!

    You have to slow it down BEFORE you bring it into FCP...Use Cinema Tools.

    I need to convert PDF file to Word Document, so it can be edited. But the recognizing text options do not have the language that I need. How I can convert the file in the desired of me language?

    The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
    If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
    Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
    Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
    Do cleanup.

  • How can I convert an InputStream to a FileInputStream ???

    How can I convert an InputStream to a FileInputStream ???

    Thanks for you reply, however, I am still stuck.
    I am trying to convert my application (which runs smoothly) to a signed applet. The following is the original (application) code:
    private void loadConfig() {
    String fileName = "resources/groupconfig";
    File name = new File(fileName);
    if(name.isFile()) {
    try {
         ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream(new FileInputStream(fileName));
         pAndGConfig = (PAGroupsConfig)in.readObject();
         in.close();
         return;
    } catch(ClassNotFoundException e) {
         System.err.println("++ERROR: "+e);
    } catch(IOException e) {
         System.err.println("++ERROR: "+e);
    System.out.println("Can't find file: " + fileName);
    Because all code and resources now reside in a Jar file (for the signed applet), I must use the following line to access the resources:
    InputStream is = this.getClass().getResourceAsStream(fileName);
    I then need to convert the 'InputStream' to 'ObjectInputStream' or 'FileInputStream' so that I can work with it.
    I would be very grateful if you could help shed some light on the matter - Cobram
