How do I convert all of my word documents to pages?

I'm tired of this Microsoft crap on my Mac.  I've successfully moved from Entourage on to Apple Mail, now I want to convert all of the Word and Excel documents over to Pages and Numbers.  How do I do that without going through each individual file?

The advice you have already received…
Pages v5 is not a Word clone, and does not work natively in Word documents as does Word in Office for Mac 2011. Instead, Pages v5 will attempt to translate your Word content into what Pages supports in its internal .pages document format. Exporting back to Word is another translation. There is no assurance that Word 2013 users will receive a document laid out as exported. You will expend considerable time asking where all the Word features went that are missing in Pages v5. The only application in the world that can open .pages documents is the current version of Pages, as Apple has broken compatibility with previous Pages v5 releases.
A Pages v5 document with only the single character 'A' in it will export as a 500Kb Word document. The support for Word 2010 and 2013 is underwhelming, and there is a high degree of risk that Apple will be caught sleeping with more incompatibilities when Word 2015 finally ships.

    Hi itchigo,
You can use Microsoft Word's inbuilt feature of converting the doc to pdf by simply selecting Save As> 'pdf doc format' from the drop down.
    Please refer: http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/word-help/save-as-pdf-HA010354239.aspx#BM11
Adobe Reader does not have the capability of converting docs to pdf or vice versa. It can only be used to read pdf files.

You probably have to subscribe to the ExportPDF service. You can ask in the ExportPDF forum on how this would be done.

  • I have a PDF document in Hebrew--how do I convert it to editable Word document?

I have a document in PDF--in Hebrew.  How can I convert it into a neditable Word document?   When I tied converting it, the Hebew characters of thge original came out as bizarre latin fonts--and when I changed the fonts, some to hebrew, they all appeared equally strange and unusable

Unfortunately our ExportPDF service doesn't support Hebrew text.  You can vote for this feature in here: http://forums.adobe.com/ideas/1554  We use the Ideas section to help prioritize features.

  • How do I view comments from a Word document in Pages 09?

I have a word document with comments to the right of it, but when I open it using Pages 09 I don't see them. I've gone to View->View Comments but nothing comes up.

Word and Pages use different methods for many things and are not wholly compatible.
I guess you have found another aspect that doesn't translate.
Do a few simple examples in both Pages and Word and see what does translate or not. Then know thte limitations.

  • Convert 1 single microsoft word document with section breaks to multiple pdf files

I am a windows 7 users. I have a single microsoft word document which contain 1500 pages. These 1500 pages are seperated by sections breaks in the microsoft word. I am trying to convert this word document to multiple pdf files seperated by the section breaks in the Microsoft word. How can I convert the single microsoft word document with section breaks to multiple seperate pdf files?

Acrobat (Adobe PDF Printer and PDFMaker ) doesn't recognize the Section breaks.  It never has as far as I am aware.  The easiest thing to do is to manually break up a copy of the MS Word Document into the Sections you need and then create the PDFs from those MS Word documents.

  • How do i change a pdf in preview to a word document in pages?

Does anyone know how i return to work on a word document within pages as i'm currently viewing it as a pdf in preview.

Preview does not have that capability. Go to MacUpdate or CNET Downloads and search for software that can do such a conversion.

I need to convert PDF file to Word Document, so it can be edited. But the recognizing text options do not have the language that I need. How I can convert the file in the desired of me language?

The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
    Do cleanup.

Click "Download Converted File" link to download the exported Word file to your computer.

  • How do I convert from PDF to Word step by step instructions needed..am practically computer illiterate

How do I convert from PDF to Word step by step instructions needed..am practically computer illiterate@

Ok, fine. That isn't Acrobat, and that's why our instructions weren't much use. (But it's worth saying "I didn't have that option" rather than "it's not converting", we could end up wasting a lot of your time with the wrong stuff!)
Anyway, the free Adobe Reader can't do this conversion without a subscription called either ExportPDF or PDF Pack. You may have had one in the past. Are you still paying for one?

hello! how can i put and read my words documents in the notes pad of my ipod nano 3trd generation?thanks to all.

The Notes features of the 3G iPod Nano only supports TXT files and not Word Documents.  If you want to be able to read these word documents, you'll need to copy the text from each over to a text file.  See here for more information.
    iPod: Storing and reading notes
Keep in mind that each txt file has a limit of 4096 characters.  See this article for more information as well.
