I have installed Photoshop elements version 11 on my windows 7 PC. It won't convert my catalog on Photoshop Version 9 to version 11. How can I fix this?

You might try converting from Elements 6 to Elements 13 on Windows using the trial PSE13 for Windows, then just copy things over to the Mac PSE13. I am not really an Elements person so cannot give particulars of what to copy over or if it’ll even work to copy things over, but it seems like doing the version upgrade as a separate step to the platform switch would be better. I mean if you can’t get the version upgrade to work on Windows then I doubt it’d work after copying over PSE6 files to the Mac.

My scanner is a couple years old and it scanned it to version 9. The government website I'm trying to upload to is terrible and won't accept version 9 or earlier. I don't understand why; it's all PDF. Adobe Reader 11 can open version 9 so why can't theirs? How can I convert my PDF to version 10 or 11? I looked at pdfconverter, but it's free only for files <512 kb and mine is 1 MB. I'm certainly not paying $69 to convert one file.

They have a PDF form to fill out, but then it says to sign and attach it so I assume that means to scan it. It says "Click the above button to access the submission page in order to electronically file your completed Individual FBAR. Enter your email address, first name, last name and phone number and then browse on your computer to locate the individual FBAR you have completed. Once attached, you can file your FBAR electronically by clicking submit, at which time you should receive an email notification of acceptance." The bolded section must mean that I have to scan it. We're dealing with the government here, so not much makes sense.

Converting Elements Organizer 11 catalog to version 12

I am attempting to convert an Elements Organizer version 11 catalog to version 12 running on OS-X Lion. It has been running for two days stuck at 37% and appears to be cycling through files with the name breeze-xxx.XML files in the BreezeData folder. It appears to be running since the breeze file names change about every 30-60 seconds. Is this normal or should I cancel and try a different approach? I checked the BreezeData folder and there are approximately 57K breeze-xxx.XML files and my catalog has approximately 56K images.

Normally breeze file do not change their name so frequently. In the catalog conversion progress bar, is the number of the breeze-xxx.xml increasing?Has this number reached anywhere around 57K? If yes, then suggest you to wait for sometime.

How can I convert a PSE 8 catalog to a PSE 10 catalog? I have tried numerous times over 3 days.

I have repaired the PSE * catalog even though no errors were found. There are no *.avi files in the catalog. The conversion has a slight hang up at 34% and again at 82%, continues to the end and reports that the conversion failed. Why do I and so many others report the same problem? I am using Win 7 pro and have plenty of space on the disk. I have too much info in the catalog to lose now as I have been labeling all my slides for eventual backup onto DVD's to send the approprate photos to friends. How do I make this conversion successfully when all the suggested methods do not work or is it better never to get an Adobe PSE upgrade?

Do you have any unsupported video files in the catalog such as AVCHD (which requires Premiere Elements) which may be causing the conversion to stall.
If not, try launching as admin by going directly to the application. Close the Organizer and go to:
C: >> Program Files (x86) >> Elements 10 Organizer
Right click on the file “PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe” and choose Run As Administrator.
Then go to:
File >> Catalog >> Convert
Try selecting your PSE8 catalog again and clicking the Convert button.
N.B. the exe file will be in Program Files on 32 bit windows.

I just upgraded to Ap3 from Ap2. I have lost the reference to master files on hundreds of my images. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to which master images disappeared. I have tried all three options for repairing the library and they have failed. I have never segregated versions and masters in different locations--they've always been in the library. So, I think my next best move is to convert all of my versions into masters. Is there a way to do this?

You'll be better off tying to find the masters and correcting the problem. If you don't have the masters you don't have the versions either, all you have are the previews.
Depending on your preferences settings for the size and quality of the previews you may get something expectable for viewing on your screen or the web but that would be it.
Also if all you have are the previews then you won't be able to export them, you'll have to drag them out of Aperture into a folder on your HD.

You can't merge catalogs (even PSE13 ones) in any PSE version (only LR can do that). So, converting catalogs is not the solution to your problem.
Since you have PSE5 working on your computer and your images also, the solution is to 'write metadata to files in PSE5) and to re-import the images in the PSE13 catalog. That won't duplicate your image files and you'll lose albums/collections, stacks and version sets, but you'll recover tags, captions and ratings.
To be able to re-import the files indexed in PSE5, you may have to move them to a new master folder.
I am not sure what your problem with the conversion may be. It's quite possible that the resulting catalog.pse13db is ok and that the issue lies in the ability to open it in the PSE13 organizer.
As stated by dj_page, double clicking on that file should open the organizer with the new catalog. You could test that by creating a dummy catalog in PSE13 and importing a small batch of photos. Locate the path of the catalog with the menu Help/system info. Copy the catalog.pse13db in another folder and the 'double click' way to open the organizer with that moved catalog database.

You will need to buy elements 9 or 10, then install that in windows and make a full backup, then restore to the mac version, if you use organizer. If not, you will just need to get a newer version of PSE. PSE 6 through 10 works in lion. For mountain lion, I would go for 9 or 10.
EDIT The boxed versions of PSE 9 and 10 come with the media to install on both platforms. The downloads don't, but you could install in windows as a trial and that would give you time to get your backup done and transferred.

You may need to try and do it manually. From the Organizer menu:
File >> Manage Catalogs
Then click the convert button

The D750 isn't yet supported. It may be a few weeks before Adobe provides an update for the latest versions of Photoshop/Elements. Maybe October/November.
They usually provide a pre-release version a few weeks beforehand (any day now, hopefully), but AFAIK they don't usually work on Photoshop Elements.

Given that you have Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 12 on the same computer....
1. Know the name of the Elements Organizer 11 catalog (See Elements Organizer 11 File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager).
Close out of there.
2. Open the Elements Organizer 12, accessed from Premiere Elements 12.
3. In the Elements Organizer 12, go to File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager and click on the Convert button in the Catalog Manager dialog.
4. In the Convert Catalog dialog that appears, look for the name of your Elements Organizer 11 catalog, select it, and then hit the Convert command at the bottom of that Convert Catalog dialog.
5. From that point onward, follow the messages that you get from the program. (If you have any problems, I will go into deeper details.)
When all is done, you will have your Elements Organizer 11 catalog opened in Elements Organizer 12 where it will remain in use until you switch to another catalog there. Your Elements Organizer 11 will remain as it was in Elements Organizer 11. Moving forward, what you do in the converted catalog in Elements Organizer 12 will not affect the Elements Organizer 11 and vice versa.

Catalog convert Elements Organizer 8 to 10 fails

I just purchased Elements 10. The Catalog Convert runs for a while, stops at 34% complete for a long time, then completes with "catalog converted successfully". But, only part of the catalog is available in 10 after the conversion. No photos afdter 2009 are there. I ran a repair on the Elements Organizer 8 catalog (no errors), then an optimize. Ran the converion again with the same results. Any and all help will be much appreciated.

I have never met the situation described here, with the "catalog converted successfully" message.
Other suggestions :
- Install psedbtools to find out if there is a drive letter or serial number problem.

- Try a backup from pse8 to an external media, then a restore from pse10. I have found this is able to show offending files that would not be caught by the normal converson. The principle is that PSE10 first restores the files, then converts the catalog to version 10. In the first stage, you may get a message during the restore, telling you there is a problem with some files which are shown. For instance I had a plugin installed for jpeg 2000 files in my old version, and nothing in PSE10. The files were found which enabled me to install the plugin in PSE10.

When you make a DNG that's like making another raw file, so you will need to convert the DNG file just like your original raw. Don't use the Save button in the raw converter. That's just a link to the DNG converter. Normally you would click Open instead and then save in the editor as a jpg or other image format of your choice.
