How do I convert full color (or black) vector art to a single color?

Im sure there is an easier way but I have some vector clipart that I need to convert to a single non-black color. Some of it is coming as full color, others are coming as black.  I need to convert them to a particular PMS color.  Im sure there is an easier way than clicking on each individual vector and doing it manually...correct?

In your swatches palette, select your destination color, and choose new color group (you have to do this 1st step for this to work)
Edit >> colors  >> Recolor Artwork
Choose preset 1 color job, then choose the color group which has one pantone.
Converted but obviously placed images in this example. But the colors are GLOBAL so this is a great solution!!!

  • How do I convert a color jpg to a pure black and white jpg with no grey/shading?

how do I convert a color jpg to a pure black and white jpg with no grey/shading using Automator?

    Hi mns579,
    Thanks for your swift reply.
I'm afraid that sequence leads to a burn-out of some of the black text, making it unreadable.
To clarify, what I did was photograph pages from a book.  The interior lighting of the room where I photographed these pages leads to a jpg image with slight graying or shading of parts of the page.  So when I simply convert it to B/W, I get a washing out of some areas of the page where there is text, and this makes it unreadable.
I know that some software programs have a feature that allows a color jpg to be converted to b/w such that the text is made pure black and any surrounding areas of the text are made pure white (ie, all color is removed from the non-black areas), which makes for an easily readable b/w text page.  Am I able to do this with my Mac, and if so, how using the Automator feature?
(I have more than 50 jpgs that I would like to clean up in this manner, hence the ability to do so through Automator is important.)
Thanks for your attention to this.

  • How can I convert RGB Color to Black-White Color?

    Dear everyone!
I am using Photoshop CS5. I have got a file from my customer which is done as RGB and the resolution is 300dpi. There are black texts and color images in the file. I wish to print Black-White Process Film (1 black color), but I don't know how to solve it. I started converting my file to Grayscale and then the black texts are not black enough because it becomes lighter. When I go to Level and adjust the color, both the image and texts becomes darker. What must I do to make only texts blacker without effecting the image?
Please find the attached file for the reference.
For more information, please let me know.
    My Best Regards,
    LUCK

What file format was supplied to you? Was it truly RGB @ 300ppi or did you rasterize a PDF?
300ppi is lousy for text. You might converse with your customer to instruct them on the ideal way to supply a file to you.

  • How can I convert from color balance in FCE to color balance in FCPX?

Let me start off by saying that I've been having an issue with a project in Final Cut Express - a project I'd put a lot of time into and thought I was finished with. Before continuing on, I encourage you to take a look at my other thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18702933?ac_cid=op123456#18702933
Realizing that there may be no one who can walk me through fixing my project as is, I decided to download a trial version of Final Cut Pro X and see if I could replicate my project there and have more success (after all, it was only a matter of time before I switched anyway).
So, in my original project in FCE, I keyed a lot of frames with different color balances. I downloaded the Ripple Training color balance effect to do just that, but the sliders are set up differently. In FCE, they range from -1 to 1. In FCPX, they range from 0 to 1. I'm wondering how I can conveniently convert the values from FCE to FCPX. Being terrible at math has made this much harder.
Just by drawing a diagram, like the following, I can figure out the basics:
    FCE
    [-1]-----[-.5]-----[0]-----[.5]-----[1]
    is equal to:
    FCPX
    [0]-----[.25]-----[.5]-----[.75]-----[1]
Since I have very specific numbers, not all of which can be easily converted using a basic diagram like the one above, I definitely need some help here. For example, one of the values in FCE is .77. What would that be equal to in FCPX? It's probably something simple, but like I said, I'm stupid when it comes to math.
Thanks to anyone who can provide me with some help here, although I still hope that I'll end up having no reason to redo everything in FCPX.

Well, the "math answer" is .885…but I'm afraid that's not likely to be of much help. FCPX and FCE have absolutely nothing in common, including filters land color correction. So even if you sent the time comverting all your numeric values, I'm guessing you'll wind up with a mess and be very frustrated with all the time wasted in the workaround.
If I read your original FCE thread correctly, I if it were my project., I'd do a test on a short clip in X to see whether yoi can the effects and quality you expect. If you can, great.  Build you project from scratch and learn a new NLE at the same time.
    Good luck.

  • How can i convert/invert colors in a scanned pdf blueprint?

We have several large format blueprints to scan in and I want to change the blue to white and white to black so I can view/print them.  Is this possible?

Try changing the settings on your scanner to scan using greyscale.  That's probably the most effective way to get the color shift you're looking for.

  • How to turn a sketch in .jpeg to vector art?

Hello:                                                                                                Level: Still pretty New   OS: Windows 7 64bit    Ia: Cs6
So, a friend made a sketch and sent it to me via email and the sketch is on a deep grey bg and in a .jpeg format
I have tried the Trace tool however, when i hit the trace button it is selecting the entire page and misses the sketch altogether
I've been searching intermittently for a couple of days now for a tut on Adobe tv, the manual etc but thus far i've been unable to find a solution
I have used the pen tool but either i'm not that good of an artist (which is probable) and/or i'm not advanced enough to draw out/trace the sketch so that it looks good enough to be a logo. (sigh)
actually, i do pretty well with the pen tool but it's the detail (i think) that's stumping me.
The pencil seems like an idea but i've yet to find a tut or instructions re: how to make an open path ( i still need to search that one)
Um ... so ... i thought i watched a vid that showed a sketch being Traced. It didn't mention what format the skecth was ....
    Ideas?
Your time, thoughts, ideas etc. are greatly appreciated

Jpegs are fine for Tracing, but you should be working with the highest quality image possible in terms of resolution (or, the most appropriate resolution for the amount of detail you are expecting as well as the overall desired effect of the trace). The problem may be the fact that the sketch is on a dark background. Also, be sure the image is selected before you use Image Trace. For me, using Image Trace successfully is more about pre- and post-production on the image. Adobe TV made a great tutorial discussing how to work with Photoshop to prep an image for Live Tracing: http://adobe.ly/w7ZfCi
Here is a screencap showing the improved image (on the right) and the Live Trace on the original (left). These same techniques can be applied to Image Trace for CS6.
Good luck, and I hope you solve your problem.

  • Convert a color pdf to BW

How do I convert a color PDF to black and white?
I am using Adobe Acrobat X version 10.1.7.
Is there an easy way to do this?

As I said, I have not had much success that way either. Pro had the preflight conversion to Grayscale. Since you have Std, you may have to simply use separate graphic tools to convert to Grayscale and then recreate the PDF. If it is a scanned PDF, then you could simply save to a TIFF, use a graphic package to convert to grayscale (I use Irfanview for this type of simple task) and then move the TIFFs back into a PDF. If you have a mix of graphics and text, you may have to deal with a bit more. If the print converts the text, but not the graphics, you might try extracting the graphics (bitmaps I hope) under the tools menu. Convert those graphics to grayscale and then replace the color images with the new ones. (work on a copy of your PDF just in case something does not work)

  • Convert document color mode to Pantone/Spot

I have a document in which i have 2 layers, each layer contains shapes. one layer is supposed to be Pantone 293, the other layer is Pantone 296. right now, the colors are in RGB. I saved as is, then saved as PDF and the printer whom im sending this to, said the PDF printed out in 4 plates (CMYK) and i need only 2 plates, hence, i need the document to be in a spot color mode. How can i do this? How do i convert the colors i used in the shapes now to spot colors in CS3 version?

First I recommend changing the document to CMYK mode.
Here is the traditional fix: Window: Swatch Libraries: Color Books: Then select a Pantone Solid library. Show the Find field and type in your numbers. Double click the color chip to add it to your Swatch panel.
In the Swatch panel: Add Used Colors. To replace the global colors you are using currently, click on the Pantone swatch first, then the current swatch and select "Merge Swatches."
If you have lots of different shades of colors, you will have to create tints of the two spot colors.
Check your results using Window: Separations Preview to make certain you don't have CMYK being used. If your document is RGB, you will not be able to utilize Separations Preview (that's why I suggested the mode change)
You can also use Edit: Edit Colors: Recolor Artwork to make global color changes. But this is a somewhat complex dialog and takes getting used to. I recommend familiarizing yourself with this tool before using it in live production.

  • How can I convert a pages color document to a PDF Black and White doc.

How can I convert a pages color document to a PDF Black and White doc.  Or, covert the color to B&W in a new doc?

    > How can I convert a pages color document to a PDF Black and White doc.  Or, covert the color to B&W in a new doc?
The general idea is that you colour correct photographs once, archive, and convert with or without colour changes. The archived photograph is unchanged - or we would be colour correcting the same photographs again and again and again.
If you have a photograph with a corrected exposure, you can open the photograph in the Apple ColorSync Utility, apply a colour space conversion to a grayscale appearance using the preinstalled ICC profile, save the photograph under another name, and place that in your pagination.
If you have a paginated document with corrected exposures, and any such non-scalable bitmap or scalable spline graphics as you have chosen to add, you can render the pagination as a whole to PDF through the same ICC profile, carrying out the same colour space conversion on any and all objects.
Caveat: If you intend the pagination for certain processes, in particular offset lithography, then you are probably  expected not to render the type to grayscale, but rather to render it to single ink solid black. No software can determine what printing process you intend, you have to understand a bit about printing, and how to set up general colour space conversions in software. Ask your prepress provider, and if the answer is not prompt and proficient, pick another provider.

How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)??? creative cloud cs6... Acrobat etc

Hi, just wanted to add my 2¢
I've been in publishing over 25 years and live in Acrobat for making my final files. Currently with a newspaper.
    This is what we do:
    • Tool Panes > Print Production Window
    • Select CONVERT COLORS
    • Midway down under OUTPUT INTENT, check Convert Colors to Output Intent
    • In the associated drop down menu, I choose (because I'm printing on newsprint) DOT GAIN 20% – If you're working on better stock, choose a lower dot gain percentage.
    • Click OK – this will convert the file
    • Save
Note: this affects the file you're working with. Make sure that you use this method on a COPY if you want to retain the original color version.
I think if you compare my method to the Preflight method, you'll see a tighter contrast and better blacks. I've always felt the Preflight method left continuous tones a little muddy.
Now if there was only a way to add that to ACTIONS...!
