JWS also provides many other goodies, like cross-platform support, splash screens, auto-update, desktop integration and more..
BTW - when asking a question, do not forget to add a question mark (?) at the end.

  • Convert Jar to Exe

    Hi,
    I would like to convert my Java application to a single .exe file. I have read through many posts highlighting the advantages and disadvantages.
    The reason for this is that I would like to offer my application as a commercial software and clearly I do not wish to provide users with all classes and jars...in other words, how does one go about protecting the software against pirate use?
    what would be the best tool to create this 'real' .exe file that contains all it needs to run on any (windows) maching without the need of having a Java runtime installed?
    My idea is to first use some obfuscator and then convert the whole thing into an .exe.
    thanks

    I don't know... IBM doesn't seem to worry much about this, they sell me RAD and don't bother with any of that protection business. What bad thing could happen if somebody saw your code? Remember that people don't need to decompile your classes to pirate them, they can just make copies of the classes.

  • How do you convert a jar file into a java file,  ?

    how do you convert a jar file into a java file ?
    I am new to Java ,but have a little experience in C++ and Visual Basic.
    I want to edit and maybe create my own mobile games that are written or converted into jar files.
    At the moment I am using Java NetBeans , and Easy Java( the java pad).
    However the only solution I tried was to open the JAR file in winrar and see that its made up of png picture files,
    midi music files and class files. Unfortunately when I uncompressed the JAR file , there was NO java file to be seen and the JAVA editors Do not show the class file like a Java file. So why is there no extension Java file in the mobile JAR game ?

    801283 wrote:
    how do you convert a jar file into a java file ?You generally don't. There exist decompilers, but if you're meant to have the source, you should either have it because you are the author, or you should be able to get it from the author.
    I am new to Java ,but have a little experience in C++ and Visual Basic.Does that experience include turning .exe files into C++ code? Because that's the equivalent of what you're asking
    I want to edit and maybe create my own mobile games that are written or converted into jar files.Eh?
    Are you saying you want to take existing games and modify them? If the creators allow you to modify their source, then they'll provide you with that source (the .java files). If you're allowed to add things but not modify, you don't need .java files. Just documentation, which, again, the creators should be providing.
    Or are you saying you want to create your own games and distribute them in jar files? If so, there's no need to turn jars into .java.
    However the only solution I tried was to open the JAR file in winrar and see that its made up of png picture files,

  • How can I convert an InputStream to a FileInputStream ???

    How can I convert an InputStream to a FileInputStream ???

    Thanks for you reply, however, I am still stuck.
    I am trying to convert my application (which runs smoothly) to a signed applet. The following is the original (application) code:
    private void loadConfig() {
    String fileName = "resources/groupconfig";
    File name = new File(fileName);
    if(name.isFile()) {
    try {
         ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream(new FileInputStream(fileName));
         pAndGConfig = (PAGroupsConfig)in.readObject();
         in.close();
         return;
    } catch(ClassNotFoundException e) {
         System.err.println("++ERROR: "+e);
    } catch(IOException e) {
         System.err.println("++ERROR: "+e);
    System.out.println("Can't find file: " + fileName);
    Because all code and resources now reside in a Jar file (for the signed applet), I must use the following line to access the resources:
    InputStream is = this.getClass().getResourceAsStream(fileName);
    I then need to convert the 'InputStream' to 'ObjectInputStream' or 'FileInputStream' so that I can work with it.
    I would be very grateful if you could help shed some light on the matter - Cobram

  • How can I convert MP3 to AWB or AMR format

    How can I convert MP3 to AWB, AMR format?

    Because I faced the same issue today and although the Nokia Multimedia Converter was last updated in the year 2003, it did the trick for me. Instead of giving the setup.exe your Nokia Account, go back one step, and use this to ‘register’ that product.
    In that converter, as audio, select AMR Wideband (WB AMR) which creates .awb files. Those have a sampling rate of 16 000 Hz which is great for HD-Voice like audio books. Actually for voice-only media, I went for a bit-rate of just 12.2 kbps, still great as explained by Wikipedia. With that bit-rate only go for standard AMR if your phone does not support the wideband variant, because there is not difference in size.

    tell me the solution for it... i want to generate machine dependent exe from java file...on the web i ve seen that GCC/GCJ is used on linux platform..not cleared properly..
    Again i m writing my question
    Is it possible to convert Java to EXE and run this EXE file without any JRE if yes then how... tell me the procedure to do that...

    Its software now hardware .... some times u need these things ...anyway do u ve solution for my questionSo what? By creating a native executable you are restricting the program to the OS for which that native executable was made, just like removing the engine from a car restricts driving to downhill only. So like the I said, the principle remains the same, "Why would you want to?"
    I am asking you, truthfully, why do you feel the need to negate the largest advantage of using Java by creating a native executable from it?
    What is your rationale?
    I can pretty much guarantee there is a much better way of achieving your wish without "removing the engine".

    i want to make it into an executable .exe file.Please forget that for a moment and tell us what your goal is (instead of what you think the correct approach is).
    if not that i want to execute it without going on command line and writing
    java -jar MyJar.jarSo you want to double-click it and it should run?
    If your system is set up correctly and "java -jar MyJar.jar" works, then double-clicking it should start it was well.

    I need to convert PDF file to Word Document, so it can be edited. But the recognizing text options do not have the language that I need. How I can convert the file in the desired of me language?

    The application Acrobat provides no language translation capability.
    If you localize the language for OS, MS Office applications, Acrobat, etc to the desired language try again.
    Alternative: transfer a copy of content into a web based translation service (Bing or Google provides a free service).
    Transfer the output into a word processing program that is localized to the appropriate language.
    Do cleanup.
