How do I convert to DOCX?

I seem to have forgotten how to convert.  I get down to the point of conversion, and the Convert button is grayed out. I guess I need a beginners tutorial for adobe export

Hi Chuck,
Why sure! We have this document, which describes the process: Getting Started with ExportPDF.
And here are some additional steps to walk you through the conversion process once you're signed in (assuming that you're using the web interface, though the steps are very similar for Reader).
Log in to https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf using your Adobe ID and password.
Click the blue Select PDF Files to Convert button.
Click Choose Files from My Computer (or click Acrobat.com Files if you want to convert a file stored in your Acrobat.com account).
Navigate to the PDF file that you want to convert, select it, and click Choose.
Choose the format that you want from the Convert To pop-up menu (such as Word, or Excel).
Make sure that the correct language is selected in the Document Language (for Text Recogntion) pop-up menu.
Click the blue Export To... button.
Click the Files tab in the upper-left corner; you'll see your converted file in the Recent Files list.
Select the converted file, and then click Download to download the file to your computer. It should go to your Downloads folder. From there, you can open it and edit in the appropriate application (Word, Excel, and so on).
I hope that helps! Let me know if you have additional questions!
Best,
Sara

Thanks for replying. I am converting from MS Office Word document to Adobe Acrobat Document and opening with Reader XI - sorry my mistake.
I now notice another problem. On trying to open a specific hyperlink in the pdf version I get the message  'Acrobat does not allow connection to: www.biblegateway.com'.  Why would there be a restriction?

  • How do i convert docx to doc in Office 2004

I'm trying to convert word docx files to doc in office 2004.  All I get is a message indicating too little memory or disc space available.

DOCX is the format used by the newer versions of Microsoft Word.  Word (Office) 2004 can't open it.  You need to open it in Word 2011 on the Mac, or Word 2007 or Word 2010 on the PC, then Save As to the older DOC format.  If you do not have access to a newer version of Word, then have the person who gave you the doc, resave and resend it to you.
You can also try LibreOffice or OpenOffice.  (Both are free.)  The current versions of both have limited support for opening DOCX files.

  • How do I convert Pages to .docx documents. All I get is Word 97.

For some reason, my employer insists that in order to upload stories that appear in her bi-weekly tabloid, the manuscripts must be in .docx and nothing else. She is adamant. I use Mac OS 10.8.3 (Lion) and Pages 4.3. When I convert it to a Word document, it converts to Word 97. Is there any way in which Pages will convert to .docx?

    Hi Herb,
" It is my hope that I will be able to convert documents from Pages into .docx."
You will. It will be a two stage conversion, though: Export the Pages document of Word (.doc) format, Open that document in Libre office, then save it as .docx.
Keep an eye out for formatting issues. Translations are not perfect.

    Barry

  • How can I transfer a docx. or pdf. document of microsoft word to the ipad?

    Hello
How can I transfer my docx. and pdf. files using the newest edition of microsoft office word from my Laptop to the program "pages 09"?
It seems that pages can only import doc. files? To convert my files makes no sense because the whole layout will be messed up.
Hope someone can help me with this, or maybe apple is currently working on that behalf

Are you sure your posting this in the appropriate forum? you mention "Pages 09", but this is the iPad pages forum. (I know the link above does not say "IPad", but it is).
    If this is on iPad:
Word doesn't open pdf files, only outputs them. Use Goodreader on the ipad to read any pdfs, or other pdf reader that is free.
I just tried opening a docx file on my iPad and it opened fine in Pages. Just had to replace a font that wasn't on the iPad that I apparenlty had used on the document.
    If not on iPad:
Desktop Pages opens docx files fine, it did it before MS published the Mac version that saved as docx.
    PDF's should open in Preview.

  • Why is it taking so long to convert my docx to PDF?

It is taking a long time to convert my docx to PDF.  My docx is 74KB and contains a picture

    Hi danielc77590163,
Did your file finish converting? If it did, you may have just run into an issue with your Internet connection/upload speed.
If it stalled, or you received an error message, please clear the browser cache and then try again. If that fails, then we'd want to take a closer look at what's going on. Do other files convert for you? Are you converting via Adobe Reader or via the ExportPDF web interface? How was this particular PDF file created?
    Best,
    Sara

  • I am converting a .docx file to a pdf and the text is coming out blurry

I am trying to convert a .docx file to a pdf and the text keeps coming out blurry. Some sentences seem to be bolded in the pdf as well. All the colored text seems like there's a shadow behind it and all the text in bold seems extra blurry. I am saving the file as a pdf. I tried to print the file as a pdf but it kept crashing. I have adobe acrobat pro and distiller, but I'm not savy about which program does what.
    Thanks for any help!

If you are trying to convert a Word file, ensure the text is in 100% black only.
To create PDF's there are hundreds of different combinations that can be used, but only a few will give you a good 'print ready' file, which is what I think you may be after.
You may have font issues that are stopping the text looking sharp.
If you have Distiller, you can try to print as .ps (save as postscript), load distiller up and choose one of the high quality settings in the pop down menu.
If you are working on a Mac you can drag and drop the .ps file direcetly on the dock icon for distiller, or if you are running Windows you will need to navigate to the file via the menu bar (you will need to know where you have saved your .ps file).
There may be other issues with the original file format that is causing problems with your PDF creation.
Let me know how you get on.
    Cheers

Install Acrobat XI (Standard or Pro).
Use Acrobat's create PDF feature for supported file formats (TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, TIFF and others are supported).
Use the installed Adobe PDF virtual printer to "print" a PDF from any application that can print to an installed printer.
