How do I copy a movie from PC HDD to iPad?

This question has probably been asked a dozen times so please feel free to point me at a previous asking
I have a movie I want to copy from my Windows 7 64bit desktop to my New iPad 64GB and iTunes doesn't appear to do it?
It is in a folder in the structure below....
Movie Folder
   Movie name.mkv
   Movie Name.srt
I have "added it to my library" as files AND again as a folder. iTunes has flashed some messages VERY fast and doesn't appear to do anything.
What am I doing wrong?
Doesn't iTunes like mkv files? There isn't any DRM etc (as far as I know?)
I have had my iPad for about 12 hours and, though marvellous, I have sssssooooo much to learn
Also, when I look at the Product drop down menu below for my AppleID, it says my ID has registered a swag of Apple products but NOT a New iPad????

I recently got an ipad mini to take traveling. I am attempting to put movies on it so my kids can watch on road trips. I downloaded DVD converting software on my PC to convert their movies from DVD to files compatible with itunes. I wasn't sure which format to use so I converted two movies to two different formats, an MPEG and whatever format goes with itunes. Neither format will show up on the ipad. When I try to transfer from itunes, it will give the ipad blank files. When I try to transfer the MPEG, it tells me my ipad is not connected. My kids would really like to have some movies to watch on our 10 hour Christmas road trip....

Copy movies to a SanDisk flash drive and stream it to your iPad.

If her iPod is set up to sync automatically with iTunes, then simply configure the iPod so that the track is removed from the Shuffle during the next sync operation. For example, if the iPod is configured to only sync selected tracks, then make sure the track you wish to remove doesn't have a tick mark next to it in your main iTunes library.
If you manually manage the iPod's contents, you must manually move the song from the iPod via iTunes. Plug the Shuffle in, and then click on the small black triangle next to it's device name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes to open up a submenu. From there click music. Locate the track you wish to delete. Highlight it and hit Delete or choose Edit -> Delete.

Open both of your images in the Editor. Click on the image you want to copy and press Ctrtl+A (select all) followed by Ctrl+C (copy) then click the tab for your other image and press Ctrl+V (paste)
Alternatively click on your background image then simply drag the second image from the photo/project bin and drop it into the main editor workspace on top of the background image. Use the move tool to position and the corner handles of the bounding box to scale.

You can connect the iPad to your Mac's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, that should copy it over to the Movies part of your library.
Depending upon what country that you are in, and whether the film studio allows it, you might also be able to re-download it on your Mac via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page.

you should starting with copying the iTunes folder from your old laptop to the new one.
the iTunes folder is in your user profile Music folder.
it should go to the same location on the new laptop.
Provided that you have your media, music and movies in the default location, and you sign in to your apple ID and authorize your new computer (all in iTunes)
you should have all intact.

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.

I don't think you can truly "copy" anything via homesharing. Homesharing just lets you "borrow" (stream) the movie from another device ONLY if you remain on the same wifi while you are streaming it. As soon as you leave that wifi's range, you won't be able to see it anymore.

You can move the rental between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period. However, the movie can only be played on one device at a time. If you rent a movie or TV show on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device.
So I assume that you cannot use File > Transfer Purchases to copy them to your computer (though there is no harm in trying)

After I change the option of saving the messages from phone memory to memory card on my E90, I don't see any of the messages stored on the previous choice in INBOX. This is ok, I understood this.. But.. How do I copy the messages from phone memory to memory card for example ? Reply pls..

I think I kind of solved this issue.. Try doing this. Copy all files from memory card to a back-up folder in your PC, after connecting the phone to the PC via 'Data Transfer Mode', by clicking CTRL+A while in Memory Card in Windows Explorer. (Doing this, you will also copy the hidden files, if you haven't clicked the option to view hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer). Afterwards, format the memory card via phone, or simply CTRL+A + Delete from explorer to fully erase the microSD card. In phone, messages, in other settings, choose phone memory to store SMS messages, and then.. tell a friend to send you an SMS message, or simply send one to yourself. After receiving the message, go back to settings->Other, save sms messages to:, choose Memory Card, and the phone should ask you, whether to move or not the original messages. If you choose to move them, and NOT to save the original messages, entire messages from phone should move to the memory card. (If you would have chosen to save the original messages, the mesages that you move, would STILL BE in the phone memory.) If you want to do this again, to move them from memory card back to phone memory, change the memory to save sms messages (and if at first you have chosen NOT to save original messages, the phone should 'ask' you again for the same question.)
And, btw, if you're probably curious.. (as I was ) where the messages were saved, in memory card, after the first time you copy the messages to memory card, check the memory card via 'Data Transfer' mode on your PC's Windows Explorer. I found them in the 'private' folder somewhere.. There should be a mail and mail2 folder there.. Also, the phone browsers, FExplorer, and Y-Browser won't be able to access the private folder. (For security reasons, bleah )
Afterwards you can copy all software folders, images, music files, documents, etc. from the backed-up memory card folder you created at the first steps, since we all know E90 is a smart cutie, and will automatically detect all files, software, etc., after you copy-paste them.
