How do I copy an email address from my address book into a new list that I am creating?

I am creating a new list for email and want to be able to select the email addresses from my existing address book. I don't seem to be able to do this very basic thing. Is there a trick that I don't know?

  • How do I copy parts of layers from one AI doc into a new AI doc and keep/create same layer names?

How do I copy PARTS of layers containing many objects from one CS5 AI (v.15.0.2) doc into a new CS5 AI doc and keep/create the same layer names?
To start with, I have one fairly complex AI document with 100 layers,  with several hundred items in each layer. For example, one layer named "Stars" contains  400 separate stars (not grouped), another layer named "Crosses" contains 300 separate crosses, and a 3rd layer named "Text" contains 200 separate words (not outlined).
If I select, by marqueeing a section of the image/artboard, some (but not all) of the individual items contained in the several layers, then  paste that selection into a new CS5 AI doc, I cannot get them to  create new layers of the same name. Instead they go into one general layer (e.g. "Layer 101") as a jumble of discrete, but unorganized objects (no layers or sublayers). In other words, I have lost the 3 main layers from which I selected a bunch of objects.
Checking "Paste Remembers Layers" has no effect on this result. In fact "Paste Remembers Layers" does not remember layers at all. Only if I select ALL the items in the several layers will it paste those layers by those names into the new doc (or create new layers of the same names).
Of course it is a COLOSSAL waste of time copying the ENTIRE document, then pasting the WHOLE thing into the new doc (with layers retained), then deleting the parts I DON'T need, so please don't suggest that as the solution.

No Monica, nothing in Plug-ins other than the standard installed items (extensions, filters, formats, etc.). No 3rd-part clipboard extension on my computer that I'm aware of, either. All frustratingly basic. And my other CS5 Adobe programs appear to work well, at least to the extent that I am familiar with them.
So, from what I can tell of the various comments (thanks to all of you), am I correct in thinking that it seems I can't, in fact, do what all of you can do (that is, copy some objects from some layers in one doc and paste into another doc preserving those same layers by name and organization, and each containing the correct objects from each original layer)?
If so, that solves half my issue - "is it supposed to be possible to do it"; leaving just the other half - "why can't I do it too".
I'll get those screenshots made and posted later just in case I haven't adequately described the issue, or y'all haven't understood it.

  • I had to do a re-install of Thunderbird after a crash. How do I get my old address book into my new one?

I had to do a re-install of Thunderbird after a crash. How do I get my old address book into my new one? There are only a few of the contacts I had, so there must be a location where the rest are, but not sure where to look. And once I find them (with your help), how do I get them into the address book?

If you copy abook.mab or history.mab into a profile folder, they will show up as Personal Address Book and Collected Addresses. But if the mab files have names other than abook or history, they can only be imported to TB with the use of [https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html MoreFunctionsForAddressBook].

Hold your finger down in that mail until the little blue bubble pops up. One of the options should be to select all. Choose that and all will be hilighted. then a pop up comes up to copy, choose that, open your destination and hold your finger down to get the paste dialogue.

  • How can I copy an email address from the form results while online?

Our form contains a field where the users submitted their email address.  But I am not able to mouse over this data in the "View Responses" tab, and copy the email address by selecting the email address and Ctrl C, and neither can I right-click this data field and copy it.
Our organization just switched to Microsoft Office 365, and "mailto" links on web pages can no longer be clicked to launch a native desktop email client program.  So the users tasked with responding to forms submitted via Formscentral now have a much harder workflow.  They are compelled to download the data as a spreadsheet, just to be able to cut and paste an email address into their reply email.
I suggest and request that the Flash-based "View Responses" tab be modified to allow email addresses to be selectable and able to be  copied to the "clip board".  This would allow users who can't execute a clickable mailto link to copy and paste the email address from Formscentral into a new email.  Many organizations like mine are moving away from native client-based email programs like Outlook to save money,  in favor of cloud based SAS web-based email like Office 365.
Is there some other way to enable mailto links where no client email program is installed on the users PC?
    Thanks,
    -Dave Bartholomew

While I am still looking for a better answer, I've discovered a way to cut and paste email addresses from the FormsCentral "View Responses" dashboard.  I wrote up the instructions to help our users and thought I'd share them in this forum as well.
But it would be nice if there was a simpler solution...  Can anyone offer a better way?
    -Dave B
) Right-click on the email address
) Select “Filter by: …”  Doing this will change the view to show only entries that were sent from the selected email address.
) And it will display the Filter in the header of the form.
) Left-click on the email address displayed in the filtered results, in the header of the form.
) A new sub-form will appear, and the email address can be cut and pasted from this new sub-form.  Highlight the email address and hit “Ctrl C”, or right-click and select copy.
) Now you can paste the email address into a new email in Office 365. (Ctrl V) or right-click and select “Paste”
) Click the “Clear” button and then “OK” to exit the filtered view of the data.

  • How do i copy an existing tel# from my phone book ...

    hi there,
by now i am pretty frustrated. i am coming from a nokia 6280 which made it simple to include an existing object (tel#, note, calender event, you name it) into an sms, mms or email. my n95 does not do a thing like that. i could include a template but when i like to embed an email address or any number or given text i fail. even if i use the copy function the n95 announces that that number was copied into its memory but when i like to paste what supposedly is copied nothing appears.
and yes i know that i could send a visiting card but that exactely is not what i intend to do, i want to paste at least names or numbers from my phone book into an sms or a an email or an mms!
uff, i thought technical advances would make one happy, but my step from the 6280 to the n95 seems more a step back into the dark ages at least in the area i described above.
any ideas or am i simply even more stupid then i thought to be
    cheers jochen

my HP 4480 uses my old email address to send scan to email.I need to delete the old email address and install my new one

    des7931,
You should be able to go to your software on your computer and click on the >Scanner Actions section.
Then click on>Scan to E-Mail Wizard
This should bring up a screen to edit, change, or delete the stored email addresses for scan to email.
Let us know if you don't see this or still have problems.

  • How do I duplicate all my data from my existing Macbook to a new Macbook that I purchased last night?

How do I duplicate all my data from my existing Macbook to a new Macbook?

Easiest way is to connect them together and use Migration Assistant (which comes with all Macs).
To connect them, use one of the following:
    ethernet cable
    firewire cable
Apple Thunderbolt-Firewire Adapter + firewire cable (if your new Mac has Thunderbolt but your old Mac has FireWire)
thunderbolt cable (if both Macs have Thunderbolt)
    network (wired or wireless)
Do not use a USB cable!

  • New PC W7, copyed Favoritea, Email, address Book on USB stick. How do I import, it only looks on same PC

I've built another PC with Windows 7 64 bit. I want to copy my
IE6 and Outlook Express entrys to Mozilla. You can only import
from MS on same machine. I've copied them all onto a USB stick,
but there's no way to change the file search location.
    Any ideas please

Firefox doesn't do email, so it has no use for that address book and email files.
As far as "favorites", Firefox can't "import" favorites data directly from a file or series of files. Firefox will import a bookmarks.html that you can export from IE on that other PC.
    In IE:
File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file
    ''then in Firefox:''
Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = From HTML file

I think the best way is to export the required address books to LDIF files on the first machine and import those LDIF files on the second machine.
Alternatively you can copy the the data *.mab files from one machine to the other. The two default address books are represented by abook.mab and history.mab and can be simply copied. Other user-defined address books will be named as abook1.mab etc and will need to be imported. I'd suggest MoreColumnsForAddressBook for this task.
