How do i copy an entire project of photos

Good evening,
I am a "new" Aperture user and am looking to make a "duplicate" project and tweak the photos so I have 2 different projects
containing different dpi & bordered photos.
Is this possible ?
Thanx,
Marcus

Aperture is a brilliantly conceived and implemented application that has at its core a different paradigm of data management.  Your question shows that you are thinking of Aperture as a _file-manager_ and _file-creator_.  It's ... different, in a way that is almost impossible to grasp at first.  Aperture was designed — afaict — to address a problem photographers using digital cameras faced.  As cameras recorded more data, the files containing the data for each exposure got larger and larger, and both storage and data throughput were becoming problems.  All artists ever have been fond of making and trying variants — in painting schools Cling Wrap is used as a disposable clear film on which to paint ephemeral variants that don't alter the painting underneath.  As photographers took advantage of the ease with which variants of digital image files could be created, they were unintentionally using up all the computer resources they had available.  Enter Aperture.  Instead of creating _whole_ new files, it creates variants by saving _the instructions for how to create the variant_ instead of the variant itself.  The instructions require very _very_ little storage space.  The trade-off is that files that can be used by other programs _do not exist_ and are not saved to disk as image-format files.  When you need a file to use in another program, you create it by exporting an Image from Aperture.
Aperture is a workspace that saves your work as _the potential to make files_, but does not save those files themselves.
The "tweaking" that is done in Aperture is to make each digital camera file into an Image that is good as it can be for a particular use.  You specify DPI, and add borders, to files based on your Images when you produce those files by exported Images in Aperture.  For borders, use the excellent and highly-recommended Aperture plug-in BorderFX.
HTH.  You may find my concise intro to Aperture's parts useful.  I echo Léonie's recommendation of the User Manual.  The first 8 chapters provide a good overview of the program and some much-needed information about the UI.  In particular, understanding Projects, Albums, Smart Albums, and Folders — how they operate and how they differ — is essential for using Aperture without frustration.

How do I copy the entire contents of my laptops failing hard drive to copy back onto a new computer.

If the drive has failed the only way to get any data off it is to send it to a Data Recovery company. Which is very expensive and no guaranty they will be able to retrieve any data.
That is why Apple has included a system to backup your Mac on a regular basis, Time Machine. Also there are other Apps to do basically the same thing by Cloning your internal drive to an external drive. Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper. Along with using Disk Utility to Image the internal drive to an external drive.
Sorry to tell you but if the drive has really failed your Data is gone unless you pay a large sum of money to one of the Data recovery companies.

In Aperture 3, how can I easily move entire projects out of my main Ap Library into other libraries?  My Ap library is running super slow because it's overloaded, so I have created two new libraries, but can't seem to move the projects into them?

    Hello Annabel,
To move entire projects export them as Aperture Libraries, and then import those Libraries into the other Aperture Library:
Select the Project in the Inspector, then
File -> Export -> Project as Library
    In the other Library do:
    File -> Import  -> Library/ Project
But I am not quite convinced, that the size of your current Aperture Library is responsible for the slowness of Aperture - Aperture is designed to cope with huge libraries.
You may want to post your hardware setup and details of your library, and some of the hardware experts here may help you to find the reason for the slowness.
A huge library should only be a problem, if the projects are too big, and if you have many, many smart albums at the root level of your library.
So keep the projects small, and try to move some of your smart albums to lower levels in your folder structure (then Aperture does not need to scan all of your images to build the smart album).
Other reasons for Aperture's slowness may be, e.g.
An overfull system drive and/or external drive (keep at least 20% of your drives empty)
    lack of RAM
a corrupted Aperture Library, that needs repairing
Have you checked those options, before you split your library? It would be a pity to split it, for you would loose the ability to browse all parts at the same time, to use all your images in the Media Browser, etc.
    Regards
    Léonie

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi there
    You're on the right track.
Copy the folder to a new location.
From RoboHelp, click File > Open and navigate to the new location.
Open the ProjectName.xpj file you should find there.
After you open the project, click File > Rename Project and give it a new name.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do I copy my entire iTunes library to a USB Flash Drive?!

I'm trying to copy my iTunes Music Library to a Flash Drive, and having difficulties copying the entire library to the flash drive.
    Any help?!

How big is the flash drive? How big is the iTunes folder? If there is enough room it should just be a case of copying the folder from <User's Music> to the flash drive.

How do I copy/export an iMovie project from iMovie 11 to an sd card on an iMac?

In iMovie, use SHARE/EXPORT MOVIE in the size that you want, and then specify a name and location that you can find, such as on your desktop.
Then, in the Finder, drag the movie you just made to the SD card.

Without all the permission issues and such? One example is when I try to copy my drive to an external firewire drive that's empty I get the can't copy a file cause one already exists. • I have a file where I store my download music. When I click on "add music" to my ipod my music file opens, but rather than have to drag one song at a time to my ipod, how do I copy the entire file at once to my ipod. - steve

Hi - I have a file where I store my downloaded music. When I plug in my ipod and click on "add music" my file appears. Rather than drag one song at a time, how can I download the entire list at once? - steve

I am not doing it in ITunes, but i did down load the song from ITunes.  I loaded the song on to my Nano, but in my menu selections it doesn't show the song or the artist in any search format.  However, when i plug in my nano to my PC I see the Nano library on my PC drive listings and that song and artist are there.  I can click on the song and it will play in Windows media on my work PC.  I did notice that the format for most all the songs in my library on my Nano are MPEG - 4 audio Files.
    Thanks for your help, Mel

  • How do I copy an entire string of text messages to email?

I want to save a long string of text messages and export to email.
On first try I can press "edit" select a few messages (worked for up to 14) and press "forward" to get them into email
How do I copy the whole lengthy string of many texts?
The copy/paste function would be tedious and take forever.
On my iPhone, it allows one transfer, then no more will be allowed unless I reboot, then only one allowed again.
Is there an easy way to load ALL texts (pref
    with time/date stamps)?
    Thank You

    A few options...
You could format that HDD as Fat32/MS-DOS, but you'd be limited to 4 GB Filesizes.

You could also format it Mac OS Extended/HFS+.

  • How to block copying incomplete template projects

In our business we work with template projects from where we copy (CJ20N) the operational projects.
It does happen that these template projects are ´in maintenance´ or are being defined... there is even a status field for that.
The problem is that a user is able to create a copy of an incomplete template (they are geographically spread - so they do not easily communicate between template builders + operational project mgrs) - the system does not prevent a user from doing so... and according to our friends at SAP, the system works as designed..
Has anyone of you experts seen this problem before, and how did you handle it to make sure that a user cannot copy from a template which is in maintenance?

    Hello,
you can enter a lower limit in the condition record:
Lower limit of the condition rate/amount
Indicates whether, during document processing, the system checks if manual changes fall short of the lower limit allowed for the corresponding condition record.
    Use
When you maintain the scales in a condition record, the system checks whether the scale value falls below the lower limit.
Or you can use the flag 'conditon update'.
    Condition update
Controls whether limit values are relevant for pricing.
E.g.: you can make the use of a particular condition record in the document dependent on a specified total value.
This total value can be specified in the condition record.
I hope that the information are helpful.
    With best regards

  • Lumia 900: How do I copy an entire very long text ...

I met my girlfirend for some time now and we have been texting back an forth. All of her texts have been preserved in my phone as one single very long conversation. I would like to save this one very long conversation to my PC, so I can then print it out and save it. No one writes love letters anymore. Lovers text and I would like to keep these messages for posperity. I know you can copy and save individual texts, but how do you do it for an entire several hundred texts long conversation? Saving and copying each individual text would take ages.

Lumia 900, as well as other WP7.5 phones, does not support this feature. The synchronization of media files is being done through the Zune software. Copying and transferring of messages is available for supported Symbian devices that is compatible with the Nokia Suite.
