How do I copy home sharing content to my iPad so it is available off-line

My iPad is not synchronised with my Mac, I use iCloud. How do I transfer an album from iTunes on my Mac that is shared using home sharing to my iPad so that it is also available when I am off line? (similar to synching when plugging the iPad into iTunes on the Mac and selecting the album for synching)

It's just not possible. A project can only be worked on in the library that contains it.

  • How can i download home shared content on my ipad

I have some non ITunes movies on my PC computer that I have home shared.  I can import them onto my MAC via ITunes.  I can see and play them on my IPad but I don't see how to download them.  I would like to be able to play them when I'm not connected to the Internet.  I don't want to sync with ITunes on my computer to get them as that would require syncing everything else (I think).

if they are in the supported format you just connect the ipad to the computer and navigate to it and click on the movies tab and set them to sync
then click the sync button and they are syncronized to the storage of your ipad

  • How do I setup home sharing on my new ipad

How do I setup home sharing on my Ipad ? I just installed an Apple TV and want to display content. Thanks

Once sharing is set up for both devices, go into the Music or Video App, and look for the Air Play icon .
Tap it to get a list of devices you can send content to, one should be your Apple Tv.
Tap it to select it and start plaing anything you want. It should show up on the Tv.

If you want to stream content from your computer, then setup Homesharing there, and then use the "Computers" Tab on the Aple Tv menu screen to access the shared library.

  • How to properly setup Home Sharing with iPhone and iPad

Hi, In our home we have both an iPhone and an iPad, but with different user ID's for iTunes etc.
I just now seen that there is the Home Sharing feature, but looking up info on it I'm a bit scared that people are saying if you log in to another device with the same ID you get locked out of the original.
How could I properly setup Home Sharing on both devices, while being 100% positive that I keep my original device ID's in place?

    Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at the article below for more information about home sharing.

  • Home Sharing from Mac to iPad vs. Mac to AppleTV 2

Some odd quirks about Home Sharing from a Mac to the iPad, vs. from a Mac to AppleTV 2.
I'm seeing duplicates of some of my TV Seasons on the iPad (like, 3 identical icons that claim to be the same Season 2 of a series-the contents are identical). Meanwhile, some TV seasons don't show up at all.
Also, episodes seem once again out of order; this was an issue originally with AppleTV 2, which I fixed by adding both track numbers and season episode numbers.
All my content looks great in AppleTV 2 now-on the iPad..not so much I know the content all plays fine on all 3 devices, so it's not a format issue I don't think. Curious if anyone else is seeing some odd Home Sharing contents on their iPads/iPhones as well.

I am seeing an issue as well. It seems that when using Home Share on my iPad, that the directory listing of for example my TV shows is not complete. What I am seeing is that it only displays a subset of the entire catalog of TV shows in my iTunes Library. I notices that from A through S shows were present but nothing thereafter. So I changed the names of the TV Shows to start with an A for example and they did show up but then several shows dropped off the end of the listing. I concluded that the issue is not an alphabetical issue but just a limited amount of entries within the directory can be displayed.... obviously a bug within the iPad current release of 4.3. I do notice that the iPhone ver of IOS doesn't seem to have the problem. Also it does display several of the identical TV shows as well as mentioned in prior messages.

  • On iTunes 11, how can I access home sharing if the music is from a CD? Is there any way I can download these songs if (A) I no longer have the CD, or (B) I do not want to pay $25 a year for iTunes Match?

On iTunes 11, how can I access home sharing if the music is from a CD on a different computer using Home Sharing? Is there any way I can download these songs if (A) I no longer have the CD, or (B) I do not want to pay $25 a year for iTunes Match?

Yes, you can copy songs that you ripped from a CD to your Home Sharing computer.
Turn on Home Sharing first on both computers.  To do that, go to File > Home Sharing > Turn on Home Sharing.  Enter your Apple ID and password.
Now go to your computer that you want to copy the songs to and connect to your Home Share.  You can do that by clicking on the popover button located at the left top corner right below the play control buttons.  Click on it and scroll to the bottom until you see your Home Share and select it.
Go to Music in your Home Share.  Select the songs that you want to copy in your Home Share and click Import at the bottom right corner.

  • How can I copy/transfer iTunes content ?

How can I copy/transfer iTunes content from my old computer to the new one, considering that for some reason Target Mode and Migration Assistant doesn't work for me ?
I don't need the application itself (it comes with the new computer) but just the content.
I want to transfer my collection of CD in iTunes. they are all CD that I physically have in my living room, listen to them on my stereo and have copy them in my computer (which is in the Den) so I can listen while working on my computer.
    The iTunes is version 9.0.2
Can I drag it to the external drive or perhaps just the songs, then copy/drag them to my new computer ?

    Hi-
Can I drag it to the external drive or perhaps just the songs, then copy/drag them to my new computer ?
    Pretty much, Yes.
If you wish to keep the formatting, notes, ratings, etc. that are with the library, you should allow the iTunes software to "discover" the library.
If the iTunes Library from one machine is placed on an external drive, the iTunes software on the other machine can be directed to the library of the external drive when connected.
Allowing "Copy to Home folder/music" will provide for copying of the library to the new machine.
Alternatively, if the library is loaded onto an iPod, the iPod can be used to transfer the music.

  • HT201301 How do I copy FOLDERS to or from my iPad/iPhone/iPod touch using iTunes File Sharing?

How do I copy FOLDERS to or from my iPad/iPhone/iPod touch using iTunes File Sharing?
I know how to copy files to or from using iTunes file sharing but it doesnt seem to allow copying of folders

From your PC or Mac, you can copy a folder (and it's contents) into the DropBox folder. It will then sync ans will be available in your DropBox app on the iPad.
GoodReader includes built in connectivity to DropBox, will pick up the contents and then allow you to easily copy files to other folders within it, as well as open files in other apps on your iPad.

  • Multiple users, devices & Apple IDs in the house. Can we, and how would we, use Home Sharing?

We have three users in the house, each with their own Apple ID, using multiple mac/PC devices.  Can we and how would we use Home Sharing to share music, apps, etc?

Do you have a computer. You can't share music or apps from one mobile device to another. To share photos you need to use photo stream shared albums.

  • How can I use home sharing between our iphones (create playlists from both accounts at once)

How can I use home sharing between our iphones, so that we can create playlists with songs from both of our libraries?  We share a Macbook Pro (separate accounts) and each have the new iphone, but when I have my iphone and try to create a new playlist, I can only grab songs from one account.  Is there a way to create a playlist using both accounts since we are sharing?
Does it have to be created within iTunes first on our Mac?

The short answer: because Home Sharing isn't designed for sharing apps, and apps aren't designed to be shared.
The longer answer:  Think of it like this...
You download some music in iTunes.  With Home Sharing, another user can listen to it by streaming it over the network.  But the data itself is on your computer.  If you turn off the computer or take it off the network, the other user can't access it.
But if you send another user the app, they aren't just streaming the data- they installed it on their iOS device.  Because they weren't the one that purchased it, such a transfer could easily be considered "piracy" or "stealing," and nobody likes that (least of all, Apple).
When iTunes sees this app, it obviously recognized it, as if saying, "Hey, how did you get this app on your device, if I have no record of you purchasing/downloading it from the iTunes store?"

  • How do I use Home Sharing with two different apple accounts?

How do I use Home Sharing with two different apple accounts?

    Morning Saintine,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Home Sharing enables you to stream or transfer music, movies, TV shows, apps, and more among up to five authorized computers in your household. To do so, you will need to Turn on Home Sharing on each computer using the same Apple ID.
