How do I copy layers from one image to another?

I am editing figures for a journal and I need arrows for multiple images. Is there a standard arrow? I can only see free hand. If I use a free hand arrow I then want to copy it to the other images for consistency. How do I copy or share layers between images?

There are many arrows in the shape tool, or you can set the line tool to have an arrowhead in the tool options. You can copy/paste layers from one image to another, or drag a layer from the layers panel into the main image window of another image and then use the move tool to position it. You can also drag into the thumbnail in the photo bin, but you'll still need to bring the image up to adjust the positioning.

How best to copy keywords from one image to another?

Hey everyone,
I can't seem to find a good, obvious way in Bridge CS3 2.1 to copy just the keyword tags from one image to another.
I realize that one possibility is to create a metadata template for the source image and apply that template to the destination image, but this would be a cumbersome & lame workflow IMHO.
I also realize that Bridge allows loading and viewing many images simultaneously, and that the same set of keywords can then be applied en masse. I'm sure many users like this workflow, but I'm not one of them. For one thing, this approach is seriously not future-proof. What if the user goes out and takes more photos that fit into those same keyword-categories that were applied to the image group?
It seems to me that Bridge should allow the user to right-click on the list of applied keywords (at the top of the keywords pane) and see a "copy keywords" command. And then the user should also be able to right-click on an image and see a "paste keywords" command.

Select all the frames you want to copy, right click and select copy frames then select the file you want to paste them into and right click again and then paste frames.

You don't mention which operating system you have so it's difficult to provide an answer since the mac and Windows stores the files differently.
The other thing you can do is just re-download the apps from the iTunes Store. Just login to the iTunes Store on the other computer using the same Apple ID. On the right-hand side of the iTunes Store page you will see a 'Purchased' link. Clicking on that will take you to a page that will list your past purchases which you can re-download to the new computer.

OK, so I have a layer that has some text in it. I would like to be able to simply copy that text from one layer to another, but this seems to be impossible as the Edit Paste menu item is grayed out after I have copied it in to the clipboard. I can paste it into the SAME layer, but not into another layer.
This is how I am trying to do this.
In the layer with the text, click on the "T" icon to the left.
Click on the text, in the layer that I want to copy.
I select the text (either by clicking and dragging or pressing Command-A).
Next I press Command-C.
Then I click on the layer In the Layer Panel) where I want to paste the text.
Pressing Command-V is impossible because the Edit-Paste menu option is grayed out!!!!

First thing you can simply right click on the Text Layer and choose Duplicate Layer. But that will create a new Text Lay
er identical to the one you have.
To answer your question in your case.... Create the Text Layer. Make a New Layer. Or have the layer you want to paste into visible.
Highlight the text layer in the Layer Palette and Ctrl+Click (Win) Cmd+Click(Mac) so that you see marching ants walking around your text.
Edit>Copy.
Then highlight your Layer you want to paste into and hit Edit>Paste or Cmd+V / Ctrl+V.

You cannot copy content directly from one iPod to another. If the music was purchased from the iTunes Store, you have the following options:
- sync the iPod to your computer, transfer the content to iTunes, and then connect the other iPod and sync from iTunes

open your home folder in finder move file to public, log into other account, click the go tab on the finder menu, select computer, your hard drive (Macintosh HD Default)>Users, the origonal user> public and drag that file to your specified folder.

How do you copy automation from one track to another? Occassionally I mistakenly blow away a track's automation. I open up an earlier version of the song to try to get the automation. It doesn't seem that you can copy and paste the data. After some struggle, I find a way. Is there an easy way?

1. Copy the track containing the desired automation to another track. (create a track below it to keep things organized)
2. Double click on the region and delete the notes.
3. Now copy the region to the desired track.
P.S. Of course when Logic asks if you want to copy the automation data you say yes)

Moving layers from one image to another in tabbed windows

I don't know if it's currently possible, but I've tried every which way. But I have 8 adjustment layers I want to move from one image
to another in the tabbed window interface. Once selected, COPY LAYERS is grayed out. I tried to ALT + DRAG them to the image tab I wanted to move them to but it never focuses the tab and I cannot move the layers over.

Well if I knew the feature exists in one way or another, I wouldn't have posted it in the Feature Requests. It was because it seemed to be absent that I did.
I enjoy a tab-less experience, however I abhor how PSCS5 handles non-tabbed documents in Windows 7 taskbar. it opens a unique block for each open document you have. So if I have 20 images open as I'm slicing up a design, I have 20 Photoshop CS5 blocks at the bottom.
I don't like the Windows 7 "Taskbar Grouping" because when you click on Photoshop, it doesn't just go to Photoshop like it should, it instead opens up a menu for you to then select Photoshop (and focus it as wanted) or select an open image.
These all seem to be steps backwards...

You can't copy directly from one iPod to another, you have to copy the songs back to iTunes and update the new iPod from there. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. Copy effects from one image to another

Hello folks,
Using PS CS4 -
I know I've seen this somewhere, however, I can't find out where in the searches. Here's the setup and question, I played a tutorial on creating a sketch effect on an image that looks really cool and I'd like to duplicate these effects on other image files.
In the .psd, I've done some of the following; duplicate the background, desaturate, duplicate layer, invert layer and so-on. There's about 8 or so things done and I'd like to copy / drag these effects to another image.
How do I do this and can I do all at one time?

If you want to perform the same set of steps on multiple images:
Record an action while performing the steps on an image.
Play back the action on another image.
If you want to copy Layer Effects from one place to another:
In your Layers panel, right-click on the layer you want to copy the effects from and choose Copy Layer Style.
Now go to your target document, right click on the layer you'd like the effects to be on, and choose Paste Layer Style.

HELP: Copying layers from one file to another to keep structure not possible??!!!

I have a curious question. Sounds a bit silly and highly disappointed if Illustrator is actually not capable of doing this. Hopefully I have missed something.
I have an AI doc that has grown so large that saving it now is a major effort so trying to break out sections into multiple AI files. Allot of users will be working on these files so it is imperative that all the Artboard elements are clearly organized in the appropriate folders (layers). Im trying to simply copy and paste a layer that has multiple layers beneath and within those more layers to another empty AI file. Everything copies correctly and in place however it dumps all the elements into a single massive layer in the new file. If I go into the Layer Palette menu and check on Paste Remembers Layers it does a better job at keeping some of the structure but it still doesnt copy exactly how the structure was in the Master document.
Please tell me Im doing something wrong. I cant believe that you cant simply drag and drop a parent layer from one file to another while maintaining its structure! Exactly like in Photoshop - copying a folder from one file to another is simply as easy as dragging and dropping ...is this same methodology not available with Illustrator? I always assumed the layer and folder concept between these two packages were somewhat interchangeable.

Hi All,
After much trial and error trying to locate where the problem was it ended up being the guide objects. If you have the guides set to lock and attempt to copy out any layer that a guide is sitting in the resulting copy/paste will break apart that layer structure in the destination file. Simply setting the guides unlock allows everything to translate correctly.
You guys may have known about it already but I learnt a little something in the process. Thanks to all for your suggestions!
