How do I copy music from one computer to another?

I have a very old, slow and full laptop with our itunes library on it. This is all music that we downloaded from CD's (that we still have). This itunes library is also on our ipod nano (3rd gen). How do I move/copy the music to our new pc and new ipod touch without losing it on the nano?

You cannot copy content directly from one iPod to another. If the music was purchased from the iTunes Store, you have the following options:
- sync the iPod to your computer, transfer the content to iTunes, and then connect the other iPod and sync from iTunes
- use iCloud (which requires iOS 5).

You don't mention which operating system you have so it's difficult to provide an answer since the mac and Windows stores the files differently.
The other thing you can do is just re-download the apps from the iTunes Store. Just login to the iTunes Store on the other computer using the same Apple ID. On the right-hand side of the iTunes Store page you will see a 'Purchased' link. Clicking on that will take you to a page that will list your past purchases which you can re-download to the new computer.

If you are using iTunes 7 I think this section from the Apple article is pretty straightforward.
To transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod:
Connect your iPod to the computer on which you bought the items you want to transfer.
Copy the iTunes Store purchases to your iPod.
Disconnect your iPod (click the Eject button next to its icon) and then connect it to the computer you want to transfer the purchases to.
Choose File > Transfer Purchases From iPod.
You could also burn the song files to a data CD or DVD. Once you've burned the disc, take it to your other computer and import the songs into iTunes. After you copy the extensions folder and all sub-folders, in the profile folder delete extensions.cache, extensions.rdf and extensions.ini, this will force Firefox to rebuild the list of extensions. I find it easier to have copies of the .xpi files for the extensions and re-install them.

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your second computer is to network it with the first one and copy your iTunes folder across. Start by consolidating your library. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the same location on the new computer. This has to be the exact same place, on a PC this is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\. Everything has to be exactly the same on the new computer including the Windows user account name. When you open iTunes on the new computer it will be the same as on the original one Songs, Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings etc. You should also use the same version of iTunes on both computers.
You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the first computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the second computer.
