Is there a step-by-step instruction guide I can find re how to so import photos through iTunes?
    For windows pc's Photo albums:
    1) Create a master sync folder on your pc with no photo files at the root level of the folder.
    2) Create sub-folders within the master sync folder with the subfolders named what you want the ipad's photo albums to be named.
    3) Place the photo files you want to sync in the appropriate subfolder within the master sync folder.
    4) In itunes on the photos tab, select the master folder as the sync folder.
    5) After syncing, each subfolder will be an album on the ipad with the proper photos contained there-in.

I know this is an older thread, but FWIW you should be able to open up My Computer in Windows, locate your memory card there, then either drag and drop and/or copy and paste images from your computer's hard drive onto the memory card.

Connect your iPad to the computer you normally sync with. Download the photos to that computer using your image capture application on the computer. Then copy them to a thumb drive that is connected to your computer.

  • Why is it so hard to copy pictures from my iPhone to my iPad?

I want to use iCloud to backup both my iPhone and iPad, but not any of the pictures on these devices.  I want to backup the pictures to my iMac, since they take up so much space.  What is the best way to do this?  What is the correct way to copy pictures from my iPhone to the iPad without using any 3rd party apps?  I figured out how to import pictures from my iPhone into iPhoto.  I unplugged my iPhone and plugged in my iPad.  Then I tried dragging and dropping the pictures, within the iPhoto application, onto the iPad.  This doesn't work.  Then I tried dragging and dropping them onto the iPad in iTunes.  This also doesn't work because I get a message telling me that my iPad can't play jpegs.  I eventually figured out I had to open my ipad in itunes and change my backup settings from icloud to "this computer".  Then I click on the photos tab at the top and find my album and sync it.  But when I sync it is also syncing everything else to the computer as well, which is something I wanted to handle with the icloud.  It seems like it is intentionally difficult to succeed in the way I want to, just so I am forced to buy extra storage space on icloud.  This is very frustrating.  Any help is much appreciated.

I can't see why it has too many steps? I transferred all my camera roll to my PC (yep, not a Mac) when I needed to do a restore. Then told iTunes to sync that folder, and wow, they're back on my iPhone! I'll get to the point where I'll will put them into their own folders according to the event, and syncing will magically sort them out on my iPhone too. If I later want to add more photos to that event, I just drag and drop into that folder. iTunes will pretty much sync my iPhone everytime it's connected anyway, so it's no effort at all.
With the amount of hard drive storage space available to pretty much every PC/Mac these days, it's not really an issue having a backup of wallpapers, is it? Will it honestly affect the space you'll have available for everything else?

  • Copy pictures from my iMac to my ipad

How do I copy pictures from iphoto to my ipad.  I do NOT want to sync, only copy certain pictures from various events to my ipad.

The sync method, by definition, means you replace all the pics, with all that you want.  Mentally, you are using your computer as the master, and just copying down what you want.  So if you really only want to just add specific pics, you cannot do that with the sync option. Although, once you get used to the routine, it is virtually the same.  Assuming you want to add 1 picture, and assuming you have the photo section set up as you left it last time, you simply x the additional picture and push sync.  It recopies everything that was there, plus the new picture.
But I can understand if you want to add and remove certain pics on the fly that you need a different solution.  And Dropbox works great.
There are other options that might not fit into your free approach, but when you get a buck or two left over, take a look at photosync.  I use that all the time to send picts to and from the pad, phone and desktop.  Buy the app once and you can install it on any I devices.  There is a desktop app as well, I think it is free, but not real sure, as it has been a year since I got it.   And if you are using a brand x phone, there is a version for android.  And they all talk to each other.      Not free, but a worthwhile couple of bucks if you really want an easy way to flip pictures around.  ( there are other similar apps, this just happens to be the one I am familiar with)

How can I transfer pictures from my computer to my ipad?

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.

Then there is absolutely no way to get the pictures from the iPod to the iPad unless you import them to your computer and then import them inor iTunes and sync them to the iPad.

The iPhone should appear to the computer as any other digital camera would. Photos are not extracted using iTunes. You need to use your photo management program.

How do I export pictures from my IMac to my iPad.  I have only certain albums I want to export and not all my albums?

You can select only the albums that you want to sync in the photos tab of iTunes when you sync your iPad. If you are using iPhoto it is very easy. Simply select iPhoto in the Sync Photos From heading and then select the albums that you want to sync.
If you are using iTunes 11 - enable the side bar by going to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes Menu. This explains how to sync photos.
