thanks for the suggestion....i've also found the error msg on restart about device......seems one of the external harddrives is either failing or has failed....am running tech tool on that and all blocks seem to be bad...will try a data recovery from data rescue and then see if i can repartition it. I've found that the reinstall of office 2004 was different this time....asked for serial number again (didn't last time) and that might be it. If it wasn't completely removed there might have been remnants left over......cross my fingers.

Calibration model for fisheye lenses

First of all, congratulations for such an effort on making lens calibration widely accessible.
While reading the camera model description about modeling fisheye lenses, I found out that a single, constant perspective center is used, regardless of the angle Theta, under which object point P is seen.
Fisheye lenses can also be modeled with a perspective center which is shifting along the optical axis for different angles Theta.
Did you find this aspect to be neglegible in your tests ?

I was only taking the panorama idea as an illustration
to what I meant for a successfull geometric distortion correction. I probably didn't choose a good one...
The basic idea is to use the geometrically corrected images to measure within the image(s).
( If you have two images, and know their relative positions, and can identify identical object features in both images, you can compute the position of the feature in 3d-space, given a calibrated lens. )
Using wide angle lenses (fisheye's) is an advantage here due to the larger field of view, this is my motivation.
On the other hand, Michel Thoby has experimentally estimated here

that the "nodal point" can vary by about 20 mm for this individual lens.
So when reprojecting an imaginary rays from the filmplane back to to object space, it might be off by up to this amount.
I agree that for rectilinear lenses, this effect is neglegible.
I would love to know how large the Residual error (RMS) is ( mean and standard deviation), if you happen to have such information for a similar lens.
Do you think it would be possible to include a parameter for the shift of the perspective center for rays under varying incoming angles (theta) in the future?

Premiere CC for Mac - How do I fix fisheye from a GoPro Hero 3+ video?

First up, I'm very new to Premiere - my experience is probably less than 2 hours at this point. To disspell any concern over whether or not I'm using a licensed copy of Pr - yes, I am. I subscribe to Creative Cloud because of my need for Lr, Ps and Ai.
Anyway, I've got a GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition camera and would like to learn how to remove the fisheye effect caused by the crazy wide video that produces. In 1920x1080 "SuperView" I think it's some like 170+ degrees of view vs 127 degrees in "normal" wide mode. Those figures might not be 100% correct but they're close.
With SuperView there's some insane fisheye going on - as you'd expect, I guess. Using the GoPro software there's an option to remove it but that produces video with an aspect ratio that looks squashed. People are super tall and I lose some of the captured video at the top & bottom when watching.
In Premiere for Windows, I believe there's a video effect calls Lens Distortion - it's not there on my Mac version of Premiere CC. The tutorial I watched set the Lens Distortion to -27 and I'd like to try it. Can't though - that effect isn't there.
Is it possible to remove fisheye using Premiere CC for Mac only i.e. completely bypass the GoPro software? If anyone's wondering why I want to bypass the GoPro software - the answer is "just coz."

The 2014 release of Premiere Pro CC now has presets for specific GoPro models. This is true in PPro for Mac, too. Check out the Effects tab in the Project panel: Presets > Lens Distortion Removal > GoPro > [your specific model] > [your specific GoPro footage's mode]. Drag the effect to your clip and watch the barrel distortion go away.

Perspective correction and Lens distortion removal tools

Hi,
as a photographer who aspires to create pictures with best possible quality available to me I am very bothered that my primary image editing tool is lacking Perspective correction and Lens distortion removal tools. I believe that there should be no questions if such tools are necessity or so to speak additional enhancements. It is eating the disk space as well having multiple copies clutters the projects if these functions are available only via plug-ins or additional external tools.
How are you guys handling such issues?
For a moment I was thinking to convert all the files through Nikon Capture NX2 before importing to Aperture but that again is counter effective in long run. Aperture is built to work with Raw files and large tif files take longer to process between various programs and I would loose all the benefits of having Raw file at all.

It would be nice to have those functions added to the next version.

Note - due to the number of lenses and cameras, this would be a huge task and the end result may not include a lot of older lenses which really need the correction.
I use PT Lens as a plug-in inside of Aperture for the most part (although I do have PS CS5 and DxO Pro 6 for situations where I want something different).
As you said, the downside is that you end up with a TIFF (from inside Aperture) or a processed file needing to be import into Aperture.

Is this Printing from an eMac Desktop computer, or the actual display coors on the Desktop of the eMac?
If the Latter try this.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode).

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):

Hmmm that's strange TopDiver. Let's get to the bottom of this. Have you checked the notification settings on the device? To verify the notification setting on the device click on menu>settings>sound>notification sound, then test device notifications.

If you are sure that you have sound in other apps - and if you can still hear keyboard clicks and get notifications, then system sounds are not muted. Try this and see if it works.
Close all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
